Wedding guest help - yay or nay to this dress?

Dress in question!

I hate printed or vaguely 'occasiony' dresses of any kind and I'd actually wear this dress outside of a wedding setting. I've got a small wedding coming up end of August in a countryside venue and was wondering if this dress would look chic and not too casual.

Planning on wearing with some heeled gold sandals, gold jewellery and a little white crossbody bag.

I think the style of the dress and the ideas you have for accessories etc are nice and fine for a wedding, but that particular dress looks crumpled on the model and might look a bit strange. You'll have to see what the fabric is like.

kittensandcoffee · 18/07/2020 18:07

@BikeRunSki It's a boho wedding, it's in a barn venue.

I will order it anyway and see how it is in person. Might be able to post some pics with my accessories/shoes in a few days.

Sorry it's too casual and if it's in a barn heeled strappy sandals - no. P

Splattherat · 18/07/2020 18:12

I think its understated casual smart you could wear it for a number of occasions but personally I think its too casual but you maybe a lot younger than me and look much much more slim and much more like the model than I do so it might be ok in your circle.

2gorgeousboys · 18/07/2020 18:12

I think your styling ideas sound fab but I agree with previous posters that the dress will look crumpled easily. I also think the drawstring waist makes it more casual than it would if it had a waist or a 'proper' belt.

HappyDinosaur · 18/07/2020 18:13

Sorry I also don't think it's suitable, it's more just a dress to wear to a simple picnic or something.

Ginfordinner · 18/07/2020 18:15

You might need to rethink the shoes if it is in a barn. Personally, I think it is far too casual for a wedding, but if it makes you feel good and confident then get it. Buying an expensive outfit that is only going to be worn once is a waste of money IMO.

annonymousse · 18/07/2020 18:16

Sorry it's a no from me. Far too casual and will look crumpled and scruffy in no time. Definitely not appropriate with all the flesh on show but doing up more buttons will make it look worse.

AnotherBiteMe · 18/07/2020 18:16

I like the last one. Thats nice for a wedding.

kittensandcoffee · 18/07/2020 18:16

Noted on the shoes!

I am around same height/size/age as the model.

Too casual for me personally.
Even if dressed up with heels etc it's more like "out on the town casual" rather than wedding.

Frozenfrogs86 · 18/07/2020 18:18

Too casual for a wedding

tigger001 · 18/07/2020 18:18

It's far too casual in my opinion.
Although it does sound like you have maybe already decided to order it.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 18/07/2020 18:18

Too casual for me too

Babs709 · 18/07/2020 18:18

I vote yay. I think wedding guests need to look like they’ve made an effort, there aren’t really formal dress codes anymore IMO. I think the accessories you’ve picked will look perfect.

tigger001 · 18/07/2020 18:19

More like an afternoon meeting with the girls for coffee in day time

Babs709 · 18/07/2020 18:19

I am around same height/size/age as the model.

I wanted to caveat that yay to the dress if this ^ but wasn’t sure how to put it. Definitely yay from me then.

Catlover77 · 18/07/2020 18:19

I agree, it will end up as a crumpled mess

kittensandcoffee · 18/07/2020 18:20

@tigger001 I will wear it anyway, but will look for something else for the wedding. :)

silverPersephone · 18/07/2020 18:22

Think it's lush and perfect for a barn wedding

SockYarn · 18/07/2020 18:23

Too casual. Even something like this would be more appropriate.

kittensandcoffee · 18/07/2020 18:23

@SockYarn Link? :)

OP posts:
kittensandcoffee · 18/07/2020 18:25

@SockYarn Really? I think that looks more casual. Grin
