Plus size in a Cos dress

I have an event (covid allowing) with lovely friends, some of whom are inctedibly stylish.

I am not stylish, but I do love clothes if that makes sense.

I bought this dress and I think I'm going to keep it, but wanted to get some opinions on here, if anyone would oblige!

I've put it with a navy, biker jacket in a very soft faux suede and espadrilles. But other options if weather is worse are these boots.

What do people think please? Be honest, I can take it... I think WinkGrin.

I am a size 16/18, apple shape.

You have a fab shape, OP - amazing legs 🙌🙌

I love the Cos dress with the espadrilles but not the jacket. Have you got a chunky statement necklace that coordinates with the shoes to tie it together?

LadyPrigsbottom · 12/07/2020 19:57

@TJH1

Thanks to this thread, I’ve made my first order at COS.
Yay! I love Cos.

@Everydayisalearningday, that is really nice, but I find the Cos one a bit more fun and interesting.

Black opaques I hadn't thought of, but I will give that a go.

My only statement necklaces I don't think would go... one might actually. It's sparkly.

I think you could find a more flattering dress than the Cos dress, but if you love it, then you should wear it. The Seasalt dress is a nice everyday/ work dress, but not for a christening.

If the christening is in September, then I think you might be a bit cold with bare legs? I would try it out with different tights and see how it looks as a next step.

LadyPrigsbottom · 12/07/2020 20:01

Hey @sonjadog Smile!

Yes, I agree that I could find something more flattering...but I do like this one a lot.

The event is September (fingers crossed, covid allowing etc), so it could either be FREEZING or fairly warm... I am in the SE England, so it does sometimes go quite warm here in September.

@LadyPrigsbottom I think the first dress looks great on you without the jacket. The dress Is different - in a good way.

Pieceofpurplesky · 12/07/2020 20:17

I really like it buttoned with the boots. It's kind of boho garden party chic. I think it looks comfortable and stylish. Plus you can eat LOADS and it won't show.

sonjadog · 12/07/2020 20:24

Regarding the eating, will you be able not to spill stuff down your front? I know it is a skill that many people possess but if I wore a dress in one pale colour, it would last about five minutes before I had food/wine down the front. It won't be so easy to cover up...

PurpleDaisies · 12/07/2020 21:03

September is the worst for knowing what to wear! Very unpredictable.

I’m not sure that’s the most flattering dress but it’s quirky and it suits you.

LadyPrigsbottom · 12/07/2020 21:19

Yes, there is every chance I will spill something on it... maybe I'll bring a back up dress...or perhaps a bib Wink

I also think it's kind of boho and agree it probably isn't the most flattering dress I could ever find, but I think it makes up for that in quirkiness.

OP posts:
sonjadog · 12/07/2020 21:22

Quirky is good. Also, if you love the dress you will feel good in it and that will make it look good on you!

I think if you find the right shoes/tights/cardigan then everything will fall into place. Smile

inglory · 12/07/2020 23:04

@Greenglassteacup thank you. they are loeffler randall, who do amazing footwear. Got them from net a porter I think.

Beatrix15 · 13/07/2020 15:55

I really like you in the Cos dress, it's much more fashionable then the polkadots, and shows off your great legs! To echo other comments I don't like the jacket with it though, so only wear that if you plan on not wearing it during the event.
