Try a more fitted top tuck it in and brogues or simple fashion trainers not big chunky ones @TheOnlyMrsW and take a pic I think they could do with taking up a little on you but can't tell at the moment.

Sickoffamilydrama · 11/05/2020 11:43

In my comfort dress started the day optimistically with bare legs and arms but have had to put a cardi and tights on.
T shirt boohoo
Dress mint velvet
Cardigan (not sure)

@TheOnlyMrsW I second everything @sickoffamilydrama says, I like those cords but definitely an inch or 2 needed off the bottom, wear with nice flats or a more “delicate” trainer if heels or wedges aren’t your thing, or Birkenstocks! I’m biased, but they go with everything!

I feel bad, I have an enviable shirt selection that seems to just sit in my wardrobe not being worn so I have sworn to pull the iron out, freshen them
up and wear them more often, I’m currently in a “jeans and a stripey top” rut because it feels safe.

I’ve had to zip the fleece liner back into my jacket, I’m not impressed! Quick pic before heading out with the dogs.

Jacket - Barbour
Top - Jack Wills
Jeans - Topshop
Boat shoes - Timberland

@TheOnlyMrsW I’m glad you love your Alexas!! I’d highly recommend the orange ones, they are my favourite & actually go with quite a lot of colours - grey, black, white, cream, greens & dark blues. I’m not overly keen on the cords. I like them from the sides but at the front I don’t think they do much for your lovely shape. I’m a fan of cords in general though!! Oh & your DH sounds like a keeper 💙

@TheOnlyMrsW I like the cord trousers but am a big fan of cord and wide leg trousers. Agree with @Sickoffamilydrama suggestions. Don't wear heels if you don't want to, chunky shoes/ sandals would be fine.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 11/05/2020 13:34

It’s so cold here today - we had snow yesterday! I am jealous of the summery outfits from the weekend.

@TheOnlyMrsW I love cords, but think you could find nicer ones. I think a high waist always needs something tucked in or slightly cropped, and I personally don’t like that sort of style with heels. (I don’t own heels though, so possibly biased!)

Today I am wearing stripy top from Other Stories, cardigan from Warehouse, Levi’s 501 jeans, and DM monkey boots.

Cardi from Tesco
T-shirt from New Look
Jeans from Dorothy Perkins
Adidas Superstars from Office

I feel really fat today & my jeans feel too tight.
(I started my diet yesterday).
I'm a bit skinny jeans. (which is all I've got). Maybe I'm not feeling the love for my skinny jeans as they're all a bit tight at present.
Will have to wait until the shops are open for a trying on session to see what other cuts suit me as I can't afford to buy more than one item online at once.
I'm 5'3".5 so slightly too tall for Petite length jeans but too short for regular length. So I do usually get ankle grazers.
I know I don't want to wear Bootcut ever again as I wore them all the time in the 00's!!
Seen a few younger women in turned up mom jeans that looked good but they were slimmer.

Terralee · 11/05/2020 17:19

Sorry for the moan!

Sooverthemill · 11/05/2020 19:27

@Terralee you look fab though I sympathise with feeling like everything is too tight! You can get stuff from M&S on Paylater ( Karnataka I thunk) which I did over Xmas and you pay in instalments and the refund is sorted very quickly if you return. I'm not encouraging you but it's a way of trying in 2 styles. I reckon you would love Mom jeans. Just more forgiving than skinnies!

happytobemrsg · 11/05/2020 19:37

I prefer baggier jeans/trousers @Terralee. Because they are high waisted I don’t mind tucking my tops in. The mom jeans in New Look are great & inexpensive

OP posts:
Sooverthemill · 11/05/2020 19:43

Also if you do find a style you like you can get bargains on eBay. I've had almost new jeans from jigsaw and other expensive brands that way ( when I know sizing and style)

TheOnlyMrsW · 11/05/2020 20:03

@Judystilldreamsofhorses, @Sickoffamilydrama, @Sooverthemill, @crazyspaniellady thanks for your help the cords are going back, they are just not me I think so now I know....... @happytobemrsg he's not bad, I went for the navy Alexa's in the end. I tend not to go for brights as they normally clash with my hair Blush, currently growing out hot pink before going violet!!!

Terralee · 11/05/2020 20:44

Thanks @Sooverthemill & @happytobemrsg

happytobemrsg · 12/05/2020 00:00

Navy is a great choice too @TheOnlyMrsW 💙 if I hadn’t just spent a small fortune on dungarees I’d consider them myself!!

Good morning everyone. I’m dressed for videoconferencing today (or at least I am from the waist upwards). I have moderate aims for the day: 4 x 20 mins of productive work. Let’s see if I manage it!

Shirt: Hush (half price in the January sale)
Jeans: Mint Velvet
Trainers/ Hobbs

Sooverthemill · 12/05/2020 08:54

Haha @oubliette! That sounds like a great target!

I'm really liking my Alma jeans, they have now kind of moulded to my bum and the fit is fab. Glad I didn't reject them. I realised my Hush BF jeans are 4 years old so these are a great update. I tried to find my 'millions missing' tee from last year as its international ME awareness week and today we mark all the people who are unable to join in with normal life like my DD. But I can't find it! On TV they are talking about Florence Nightingale, it's her birthday today and she is believed to be the first recorded case of severe ME ( she was housebound rolling the Crimea War). To mark those who are 'missing' through ME we post photos of their shoes or usually place their shoes in an outdoor exhibition which is very touching. The converse are Rosie's. She wore them to death the summer before she became ill. She can't walk anymore. She's been ill now for 6 and a half years. Sorry, it's important to me but you can ignore me!

Shirt: hush
Jeans: hush
Sandals: Birkenstock

Please explain the mum jeans thing to me.
I only ever wear skinny or jeggings,
I am a size 14/16 though so would they work for me? (Also the reason I've not bought dungarees, I love my curves but I have a saggy lower tummy (I had huuuuuuggge bumps and the skin never went back).

Sooverthemill · 12/05/2020 09:18

@cravingthelook, you should see my tummy! ( well no you shouldn't!). Mom jeans are just kind of relaxed straight jeans with a high waist. I like high waists so I can tuck my tummy in! Look here

TheOnlyMrsW · 12/05/2020 10:23

Flipping freezing today, am in the office and it was 3 degrees when I left the house!
Dress - FatFace
Cardigan - M&S

@Sooverthemill that's a lovely way to represent people. ME is still so under researched.

It's sunny but cold today was going to wear something different but grabbed this instead, it's a really pretty dress but think I don't wear it as it clings to my mum tum.
Dress Monsoon

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/05/2020 11:31

Another really cold day here. I'm wearing Topshop rainbow tee, orange Arket cari, Levi's balloon jeans, and Stan Smiths.

@cravingthelook I only ever wear mom type jeans! I ditched all my skinnies a few years back, bar one pair which I kept just in case. I have never worn them since and they are now in the charity bag. Mine are all more of a peg leg rather than straight. I have a small waist, but very big hips and bum, and think they tend to be better on people who are more pear than apple shaped.

You’re truly inspirational @Sooverthemill I hope you find your T-shirt

@cravingthelook I much prefer mom jeans to skinnies as well. I like the baggy look & high waist.

Today’s outfit - my new dungarees. It’s really warm here (sorry everyone!)

T-shirt: New Look
Dungarees: Run & Fly

@Sooverthemill I hope you find your t-shirt! You’re absolutely amazing, never forget that!

It has turned into an absolutely miserable day, I was in old cleaning clothes earlier while I pottered and ironed, just away to go for a cycle to drop off a wee present for one of my chums - left on her doorstep, all social distancing measures will be observed!

T-Shirt - A random yoga brand from TKMaxx
Leggings - VSX by Victoria’s Secret
Trainers - Nike

The jacket you can see behind me is the one that I will be wearing, it’s a shell type number - Be Wiser Ducati (bought at a rainy Superbikes last summer, it has come in amazingly handy for cycling and dog walking!)

Hope everyone’s enjoying their Tuesday!
