Royal style: Max and Wax and whacky hats

Now that the Commonwealth event is nearly over, we have another treat ahead of us. Maxima in Indonesia!

In light of what happened on the previous thread, I'm going to take a leaf out of Elizabeth SMT Holmes' book and say critique the clothes and the styling but not the physical appearances of various royal women.

Oooh yay! An India tour dress!

SenecaFallsRedux · 09/03/2020 20:32

Kate beautiful in blue. I really like that dress.

mrscampbellblackagain · 09/03/2020 20:33

Interesting that Sophie wore that dress to ascot last year, it somehow looks way better today. I prefer the hat this time round.

I like to think of Sophie and the Queen having a cup of tea tomorrow and dissecting what happened today.

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/03/2020 20:42

I thought it looked quite Ascot!

Where was Princess Anne today?

I’m sure I saw Captain Lawrence behind William and Kate.

I bet Anne stayed home to stop Andrew cocking anything you whilst everyone else was out Grin

paradyning · 09/03/2020 20:53

Hmmm
I'm not a fan. Looks very Camillaesque. Nice colour though. Better than the wishy washy blues that don't suit her as well.

Rhubarbisevil · 09/03/2020 20:53

I thought that too TSS

Whattheother2catsprefer · 09/03/2020 20:54

@QueenOfTheAndals

Where was Princesses Anne today

mucking out a stable then inspecting a sewerage system?

justasking111 · 09/03/2020 20:55

I spotted Kate`s jimmy choos again, love these. Her earrings are amazing.

Tonight's dress is one of Kate's best ever looks.

It's funny how the styling and scarf make it look more glamorous and unique though, without the Asian twist it's a bit more prom.

Love the blue dress on Kate this evening! And thought her hair looked so elegant in that up do earlier.

Lelivre · 09/03/2020 21:02

Delurking to say I love mm’s clothes today and the red cape dress as it happens...I will miss the fashion.

paradyning · 09/03/2020 21:03

I agree Lelivre

evilharpy · 09/03/2020 21:06

I know there's a lot of love for Sophie here and rightly so, but Edward (godawful double breasted suits notwithstanding) seems like a nice enough sort of a chap. He's always quite smiley when I see him in photos.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 09/03/2020 21:08

Kate looks so radiant tonight.

NarniaBanarnia · 09/03/2020 21:11

Oh I much much prefer the blue evening gown with the scarf jobbie and her hair up.

I’m a lone voice but I don’t like it at all on her tonight; I think it makes her look much older than she is and while I liked the shorter hair previously tonight it looks imvho twee and dated. Very 80s look overall, which in fairness MAY be exactly what she wanted to channel, who am I to know the inner workings of her mind??!

The colour is stunning on her; way better than the baby blue in the pap shots earlier this weekend.

She looks very smiley and eager; I just dislike the overall look and normally I love her evening looks. This one makes her look as if she’s been lacquered from head to toe in very strong hairspray.

NarniaBanarnia · 09/03/2020 21:14

Kate’s confidence though... I love that.

Gooseysgirl · 09/03/2020 21:14

Kate looks gorgeous this evening - much preferring this to the coat earlier today. I hope she keeps her hair this length - it's fab. I totally agree regarding Sophie and high necklines and bosoms, same issue with the green dress she wore last week.

paradyning · 09/03/2020 21:25

You are not a lone voice Narnia.

Laniakea · 09/03/2020 21:29

Oh I love the outfit tonight ... I imagine the children she met will be enchanted by princess mode Kate. The hair length works so well.

I’ve decided it was the colour I didn’t like from the Commonwealth service - I really don’t like rusty reds.

itswinetime · 09/03/2020 21:34

Tonight's dress is lovely I agree it looked better with hair up and scarf but I think it's more appropriate for tonight as it is now. Is it just Kate tonight? No Sophie or Camilla?

NarniaBanarnia · 09/03/2020 21:36

Sorry paradyning Smile posted before I had seen your comment! I have to agree it’s very Camilla; definitely something Camilla might have worn though obv Kate is model-like in proportions and stunning to look at (not criticising Camilla but not many of us look like Kate!) so while kate looks way better in it I still think it’s a shame she’s wearing a style of dress her 75 year old (ish) mother in law might have worn!

With her looks, bright, frame, confidence... she could wear such stunning sleek/dramatic gown and I wish she always would; I dislike the flounciness and the sparkle. Just because she could wear ANYTHING and still look tall, slender and attractive I still wish she would go a bit more adventurous!

ElspethFlashman · 09/03/2020 22:00

I actually think it's a bit too glam for the occasion? Everyone else there is in midi dresses. Everyone looks a bit "smart work do" and Kate's in her full length glam.

I would have preferred a dress without sequins if it wasn't actually that dressy an occasion.

TokyoSushi · 09/03/2020 22:01

Busy day for Kate - she looks lovely!
