Now that the Commonwealth event is nearly over, we have another treat ahead of us. Maxima in Indonesia!

In light of what happened on the previous thread, I'm going to take a leaf out of Elizabeth SMT Holmes' book and say critique the clothes and the styling but not the physical appearances of various royal women.

What does Kate wear under her coat dresses? Or are they just coats really? Or are they dresses? I can’t get my head round the idea of just putting that on and nothing else bar standard underwear. But wouldn’t you overheat massively if you put another outfit underneath?

SpokeTooSoon · 09/03/2020 17:32

I caught some of this on the tv and I was struck by how much slimmer Sophie is in video than in still images. She looked wonderful today, best outfit by far.

Meghan I didn’t love. It was a bit ott for me, with the superhero cape.

Have to say I only tuned in to see if they were all giving each other the side eye.

Meghan had a huge smile on her face when W&K arrived. W&K&H exchange cursory half-smiles and Sophie stares straight ahead. Edward, however, was chatting away to Meghan. Harry looked bored and annoyed throughout. His default mode these days.

WickedlyPetite · 09/03/2020 17:32

De-lurking to say Sophie won today for me, the style, the fit, she looked really elegant.

Megan definitely needs a bra intervention and I also thought the cape had swung round to one side and she hadn't fixed it - though now I'm thinking it's probably meant to be like that. That colour really works on her, very eye catching.

Kate looked typically Kate, she knows what works for her and sticks with it. Her hair looks fabulous.

@FiveTwoFaster I like to imagine Kate wears the M&S Heatgen thermal range under her coat dresses on chilly days - a long sleeved thermal vest and thermal cycling shorts... but somehow I doubt it Grin

SenecaFallsRedux · 09/03/2020 17:33

I thought they all looked really good. I agree that Meghan's dress seemed a bit wonky in the fit from the back, but when I watched the video and saw her (and it) in motion from the front, I think it's a winner. I loved her hat, less so the bag. I really liked what Camilla wore as well. Good color on her.

thisenglishlife · 09/03/2020 17:36

I don't like the top of Sophie's dress, but I do like the bottom.

Kate's coat/fit is great. I don't care for today's hat or updo (but her normal updos are great).

Meghan's outfit is not a good fit or construction, but the colour is great and the outfit overall is retro glam. Love Harry's matching lining too.

I like the style of the Queen's coat.

I think Meghan has a strapless bra on hence the bad fit ??

frugalkitty · 09/03/2020 17:56

I think the problem with Meghan's dress is that it's not lined, or if it is lined, it's not lined very well. It looks like when a skirt or dress rucks up when worn without a camisole or petticoat.

justasking111 · 09/03/2020 17:58

I suspect Meghan has lost weight and toned up since buying that dress it is just too big. Lucky lady. Grin

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 09/03/2020 18:00

My tuppence worth

I love Camilla’s outfit.
Sophie’s next, then Kate, then Meghan’s - great colour & HM last.

Not that any of them will care much about what I think!! Grin

BlingLoving · 09/03/2020 18:02

They all looked fab. I haven't seen videos yet but in the stills, the dresses and colours and hats all work. Meghan's stuff does, when you look at it closely, often feel like it's not quite fitting right. But I suspect that's just because we're examining it so closely. Certainly, at first glance the colour and statement etc all look fantastic.

I think it's entirely possible that meeting up at the church is not the first time they've seen each other today, never mind this week. So huge greetings would be weird.

ElspethFlashman · 09/03/2020 18:04

Kate's earrings are part of the Ruby set she has only worn once, in the early days when she wore that black velvet strapless dress. Like back in 2012 or something.

I was wondering if we'd ever see that set again.

God, they all look absolutely freezing!

thisenglishlife · 09/03/2020 18:10

Love the Q's lipstick

Harry looked bored and annoyed throughout. His default mode these days.
Is it?

Elspeth I remember that black dress, it was lovely.

frugalkitty · 09/03/2020 18:20

This is the dress and necklace

paradyning · 09/03/2020 18:25

I love the green and blue on Megs and HM. Not really liking Sophie's outfit or hat.
Kate giving good hair. Those hats really suit her. The colour of the coat dress is nice.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 09/03/2020 18:25

Love the green, but the fit could be better.

itswinetime · 09/03/2020 18:26

The Cambridge's have shared a nice collection of photos from today to their Instagram if anyone hasn't had a good look yet

Kensington Royal

paradyning · 09/03/2020 18:26

Think that necklace was thought to be a wedding present. We've discussed it on here before. I think I wondered if it would convert to a tiara in the kokoschnik style.
Personally, as a necklace it's not to my taste. But I'd happily take it!

N0tfinished · 09/03/2020 18:27

That coatdress is one of my favorite of Kate's looks. Certainly a fantastic colour on her. I must have a fondness for buttons/flappy bits too! I liked Meghans outfit, but it definitely needed altering. She's had a few of these dress/cloak looks that seem to strangle her. They look lovely but I feel claustrophobic just looking at them.

She has a brilliant game face. She walked into that event looking so collected & confident - you just have to admire her courage! Actually it's curious that Meghan, Kate & Sophie seem to 'perform' better, whereas William & Harry seem to show their emotions more. I didn't see the TV coverage though, I'm just judging from the pictures.

megletthesecond · 09/03/2020 18:28

I think the DoC wears clip in twiddly hair pieces. Life's too short to try and get your own hair to do that.

Everyone looked good today. Nice jewel tones from the Duchesses.

Nanasueathome · 09/03/2020 18:53

People always comment on how slim Catherine is.....have you looked at Sophie recently. Very slim too

Whattheother2catsprefer · 09/03/2020 19:02

But wouldn’t you overheat massively if you put another outfit underneath? It's only a light weight coat not a great thick puffer and cathedrals are usually pretty chilly at this time of year.
I was going to suggest that they are one of those couples where he's always hot and she's always cold and that he pulls rank in the car and won't put the heater on but given his fleece addiction I guess that's not the case

NoGravyForYou · 09/03/2020 19:08

Kensington Royal insta post had two lovely photos of Meghan and Harry interacting with the performers. Harry doing the new elbow bump with Craig David is brilliant!

gingercat02 · 09/03/2020 19:09

In my mind I love to imagine Kate in full on corset and suspenders under her coat dresses, when they get home she just unbuttons and makes William's day just I know it's mad but it amuses me 🤣☺
