Royal style: Max and Wax and whacky hats

Now that the Commonwealth event is nearly over, we have another treat ahead of us. Maxima in Indonesia!

In light of what happened on the previous thread, I'm going to take a leaf out of Elizabeth SMT Holmes' book and say critique the clothes and the styling but not the physical appearances of various royal women.

I don’t like Kate’s hat at all. It makes her look like she’s leaning forward weirdly. Shoes are gorgeous though.

Meghan’s dress was stunning but too long in the body for her leading to that fit issue in the back.

Not a massive fan of Sophie’s outfit although she personally looked great

William’s suit looked like it had seen better days

Maxima’s dress was not good at all.

I am surprised at the love for Sophie's dress - I can't get behind a white polo neck. I loved Meghans little green bag - she always does lovely accessories and jewellery. Kate's hair was too fussy and contrived to my taste, but I liked the colour on her and her hat was fun.

@NoGravyForYou looks like Meghan is just amazed by Anthony Joshua’s height. She looks tiny

I heard that Sophie got a personal trainer when she turned 50, so it could be that she's just in amazing shape. Remember she did a triathlon for charity last year or th year before.

I still don't like her dress. Or Meghan's. Im starting to think I'm allergic to Emila Wickstead designs.

I think I’m less interested in their figures than in whether they’ve dressed well for them... I think they all did today, personally, some slight fit issues for Meghan notwithstanding.

Probably best we keep it to commenting on the dressing of the figures rather than the figures themselves, I think?

I loved Meghan's outfit but if it hadn't been a public occasion I'd have been asking my husband to pull it all down as it looked like it had ridden up a bit.

Also, surely that dress must have been very thin - Meghan must have been freezing.

They must be wearing thermals, surely?! Maybe that’s what all the high necks are for - insulation! 🥶

Loved MM's outfit, but I agree that the fit was really not great! KM fantastic hat and I love that shade of red on her, but the coat is just not remotely fashionable.

I agree about Sophie's dress @TheNavigator. I also don't think high necks really suit those with a fuller bosom - as we've said on here many times about Eugenie. Saying that, the outfit as a whole was nicely put together.

Meghan's makeup was flawless but she had the wrong bra on for that dress. Assuming the outfit was couture it was very badly fitted at the waist, beautiful colour though.

Did not like Kate's earrings. I dislike long, glittering earrings for daytime, yes even if they are real diamonds.

I love Kate in that colour red - her hair, earrings and hat were lovely.

Liked the green on Meghan but with the hat and cape I thought it was a bit too much. She glowed though and there are some fabulous pictures of her. When Charles came to sit down there seemed to be a really war, greeting between him and Meghan.

I quite liked Sophie's dress but in the pictures I saw the stripe on the dress looked black and her hat looked blue. Could be the lighting but it bothered me!

@FiveTwoFaster I'm sure I saw a photo where Kate's coat had blown up and it looked like a hint of red cycling shorts underneath! Can't think for a minute that's the case but it made me smile! 😊

I don't like that Kate and MM matched their shoes to their bags, just too matchy matchy and looks matronly.

Meghan didn’t match her shoes to her bag.

Kate has brought back one of her fabulous India gowns for a reception at the palace tonight. She looks great!

Oh wow, Kate looks glorious in that blue. And it has a different neckline to those she normally favours - it suits her with the shorter hair.

Red cycling shorts! Love it. Also love the idea of heatgen. Poor William. But that’s what you get for saying she looks “like a banana” when she wears a yellow dress.
