I wonder if Stephanie and Camille were wearing Pauline's designs?

beanaseireann · 27/02/2020 12:27

I agree QueenoftheAndals.
Kate looks great in skinnies and with her legs she should wear them.
Skinnies suit me too, though I don't have long legs, and there's no way I 'm getting rid- whether they're in fashion or not.Smile

Re the comments up thread about Kate having a sleek bob. As far as I can tell, she has very thick hair with a natural wave/curl. It just wouldn't suit a bob. She'd have to have it heavily styled to keep it sleek, and it would go haywire the minute she stepped out of a car into the wind/rain. I think Leti has different kind of hair texture so she doesn't have the same issues. I also think it is why Kate keeps it long - the opportunity is there to wear it in complicated and chic updo's, tied back etc. She would not have this flexibility with a bob. I have similar (but thicker) hair and a wise hairdresser told me an 'in between length' can be really hard to manage. You need the length to weigh down the wave/curls or it just frizzes and sticks out.

Or then again, maybe she just loves it long or William has forbidden her to cut it!!!!

drina27 · 27/02/2020 13:07

But I thought bobs were mumsy?

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 27/02/2020 13:12

I agree Emgee Kate’s hair is way to thick to have a bob, she would probably end up with the dreaded triangle! and also I think to rock a bob and to avoid it looking frumpy you need to have quite an edgy style and that is just not Kate, she would end up looking like a newsreader.

Laiste · 27/02/2020 13:25

Good for Kate for wearing a bit of M&S !
And re: not leather, so many people are now vegan and many of them are looking for alternatives to leather shoes. It's is going to get more commonly seen now i think. I believe she's shouting out for M&S (just as our big one closes down sadly) and the vegan/veggie trend.

Her hair - if she likes it long (i have mine long) why not just lose the bouncy curls (it has been her style for such ages) and go straight and sleek? Or have some of those lovely gentle cork screws towards the ends?

The lack dress? I believe we asked for more evening black didn't we? Eeek. Not wooly black though! Grin It's cold out and windy though so maybe she thought bugger it - i'll do the sparkly heels with a black dress tonight, BUT i'm staying a bit 'cosy'. Can't blame her really.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/02/2020 13:42

Kate's hair is great, it's her thing. I don't think it would suit a bob as it's so thick.

My hair when the humidity is high or it rains reverts to wavy. Colleagues at work when I did an outdoor event walking between tents in the rain were amazed at how it reverted to type. Kate cannot have a sleek bob ever.

Spudlet · 27/02/2020 14:11

But I thought bobs were mumsy?

Why is it ok to use ‘mumsy* as a disparaging term? God forbid a woman who has reproduced might in any way allow that to influence the way she looks 😐 Sorry, but it’s one of those terms that really gets my goat!

I have a long bob, anyway - I don’t think I look frumpy, or whatever ‘mumsy’ is supposed to denote. I don’t think Kate would either, if she got a good cut for her hair type.

itswinetime · 27/02/2020 14:53

I agree Kate's hair is to thick for a Bob she has worn it slightly shorter in the past which I think suits her but I like it this length. Colour wise she has been going lighter lately I think and personally dark richer (closer to her natural colour) is better this was a good hair period but there is nothing wrong as such with her hair.

Harry was at a Rebound Therapy session yesterday. He was wearing “normal” clothes so not appropriate for jumping up and down. Very smiley pictures. Can be found on Rebound Therapy Facebook page. Apologies don’t know how to attach them.

SenecaFallsRedux · 27/02/2020 15:09

I love Kate's hair in that picture.

MotherofPearl · 27/02/2020 15:21

I also love Kate's hair there. I think this Wimbledon photo must have been around the same time.

That's a great length and colour on her - it looks fresh and modern.

I have thick hair with a wave.....and a bob Grin I also have an amazing hairdresser who can cut it do it sits properly and doesn't mushroom. Hood up in the rain, straighteners are my friend. If I can manage it, I'm sure Kate could given she must have her hairdresser on speed dial.

BlingLoving · 27/02/2020 16:12

That wimbledon hair is my favourite. I would consider that a long bob, but perhaps I'm being too flexible on the term.

When she took her pony tail out yesterday her hair looked great too - less of the irritating huge curler waves!

BlingLoving · 27/02/2020 16:18

I just watched a video of yesterday. She really does always look fully engaged and like she's loving it. She's almost flirty, in a totally appropriate way. I can't help it, notwithstanding her rather matronly style, I really do have a soft spot for her. She strikes me as the kind of woman who in another life would be the one diving into the mud fight with the children after a summer fair gone wrong. She just seems like the type to roll up her sleeves and get on with things.

[to be clear, that doesn't mean I hate meghan - in fact, I like her a lot too. Don't want anyone to think I'm trying to create a "can only like one royal woman" vibe here! ]

mistermagpie · 27/02/2020 16:21

I've got a bob and am a mum of three and am in no way 'mumsy'...

I think her hair is the wrong type for a bob too. It's not the length of her hair, it's the style for me that's the problem. The big fat curls, when that's not your natural hair obviously (which hers isn't), just look so dated and fussy. I love her in her country casual wear actually but sometimes she keeps the bouncy blow dry and it looks really weird. Meghan actually does a great line in unfussy, casual buns which would be much less jarring when you're down on the farm (or whatever).

Nobody can rock an updo and a hat like her though. Just like nobody rocks a tiara like Camilla, in my opinion!

thisenglishlife · 27/02/2020 17:19

Kate doesn't have naturally thick hair, more average-ish. It is wavy but not as much as you'd think. She had a curly blow dry during that South Seas tour and then it went frizzy, but people thought her hair was naturally that wavy.

When her hair is straightened, or doesn't have a fresh blow out, it isn't that thick. So there must be nets, hair donuts, sponges, hair pieces and extensions on occasion (the same for practically as famous women).

Her hairdresser was fired when he said that she had extensions. Her hair was thinner when she was dating William and then thicker when she was engaged and then became thicker and thicker over the years, sometimes thicker one week to the next. She also has the very best people working on her hair.

Help or not, she can be "absolute hair goals", as the kids say these days.

CORRECTION the same for practically all famous women

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 27/02/2020 17:34

Yes her hair has got thicker and thicker over the years to the point where it’s a bit OTT in my opinion, Meghan is guilty of this as well recently, you can have too much of a good thing.

Remember Kate at Balmoral that is how my hair looks when not teased into a shape, lots of lovely bounce but sheesh hard work.

I actually think Kate's individual hair texture is fine but she has a lot of it.
Mind you I suppose one of us would have to get up right close & personal to check 😂

Pupsiecola · 27/02/2020 17:54

My hair is quite like Kate's. It's not particular thick from an each strand perspective, but I have A LOT of hair. Depending on the blow dry it can look sleek and like I don't have much or or it can look HUGE. It's not curly nor straight but a good hairdresser can do both with it. I'm not great at styling it but it's easier to style longer. Even though I'm now 50 I doubt I'll ever go for the chop. Not a stealth post, but just to say I can absolutely believe that Kate doesn't use extensions.
