The DoC looks dead comfy in today's outfit. I don't blame her for stepping away from skinny, structured clothes.
All the best people wear ankle flappers and white trainers to work anyway Wink.

mrscampbellblackagain · 26/02/2020 20:04

I just look at her last few outfits and see a woman not interested in fashion. I meet plenty of women like her. Tall and gorgeous but just not interested in clothes really.

Honestly, I was watching a netball tournament today and another one tomorrow [lucky me] and most of the mothers looked more stylish than Kate.

mistermagpie · 26/02/2020 20:23

I've been following these threads for ages but never commented before. Thank you all for keeping me going through the newborn phase with my 14 week old DD!

Anyway I feel must weigh in after seeing today's outfit. I am very lucky in that I'm the same height and shape as Kate (but about 2 stone heavier just now!) and I think we're roughly the same age but I wouldn't be caught dead in what she's worn today!

Those trousers are terrible, especially for the activity - they are office wear at best. She'd definitely have been better in proper sportswear. Tucking in is also difficult for her (and me) because having no real curves means it can all look a bit straight up and down. She'd be better with something looser tucked in, or a different colour? A plain fitted t-shirt in white would have been better.

The colour is nice enough and thank god for the ponytail, plus nice earrings, but that's me trying to think of something nice to say...

Anyway, as you were!

mrscampbellblackagain · 26/02/2020 20:55

@mistermagpie you are so right! And lucky you being the same size as Kate!

paradyning · 26/02/2020 22:32

Agreed. The trousers are horrendous!

Rhubarbisevil · 26/02/2020 22:39

If culottes are coming back, does that mean that bell bottom jeans are coming back? Does anyone remember them and how they used to soak up the puddle water right up to the knee every time it rained?

mistermagpie · 26/02/2020 22:43

Not size, shape!! I'm definitely bigger than her.

Dresses are her friend though, I am the same - it's hard to find a cut of trousers or jeans that work.

I love Kate but I wish she would take a tip from Leti in the hair department- she must be ten years older but always looks sleek and modern whereas Kate has the hair Cheryl Cole had about ten years ago.

Gooseysgirl · 27/02/2020 03:09

This is an old photo from 2012, but I think looks far better than today's outfit (just swap the wedges for trainers)! I just don't think the culottes work for Kate, or deep round neck tops 🤷🏻‍♀️

Rhubarbisevil · 27/02/2020 05:50

But everyone hates those spray on jeans goosey Grin

MotherofPearl · 27/02/2020 06:05

I agree @Gooseysgirl. I far prefer the colours and style of that outfit you've posted. And I agree that her hair needs a cut.

Heygirlheyboy · 27/02/2020 06:37

I think the jumper is fine, lovely colour but..don't think the length of the culottes looks right at all but maybe I just dont know what's in. They look like cropped trousers gone wrong. Trainers wrong colour and very clumpy looking. But I agree she may just not care and that's more than OK, even refreshing! Agree with all the pps who've said how happy and engaged she looks always.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/02/2020 07:44

I don't mind Kate's skinnies. They suit her and with her legs, who wouldn't?

She needs some good athleisure wear for these sporty events!

banivani · 27/02/2020 08:19

I absolutely disagree with you. She looks great in the green sports day outfit. It's a great colour and it's casually on-trend and relaxed. I have a pair of culottes that length and it is a tricky length to carry off and I think she does it (I'm starting to feel like I don't you see a and am wondering what to do with my trousers). God, the woman cannot win - aren't people always saying she'd do well to wear more trousers? And wide trousers to boot!

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 27/02/2020 08:20

I liked it the sporty outfit. It was different at least.

Heygirlheyboy · 27/02/2020 08:25

It's a tricky length for sure and I'm not sure she got it right. However I'm small so have stayed well away from this look as I'd look all wrong!

Spudlet · 27/02/2020 08:27

I liked it too, green is a good colour for her and although I don’t mind her skinnies, it’s nice to see her branch out a bit. I like the trainers too, although it’s a shame they’re made of plastic. I’m sceptical about the environmental benefits of switching materials, given how long they’ll take to biodegrade at the end of their life. That’s a general point though, not a criticism of the wearer.

banivani · 27/02/2020 08:33

I think it'd be great if she could find outfits like this that at the same time champion something other than Inditex. Or maybe she is subtly making a pro-EU dig Wink.

There is criticism of the spending etc. but it'd be perfectly fair for someone in her position to spend 400 pounds on a similar merino wool top for example and then wear it over and over. I think it looks good so she should go for it.

bananaboats · 27/02/2020 08:47

I don't like the green outfit at all but love the pics of her doing the activities, she always looks like she's having a great time at these kind of sporty events!

mistermagpie · 27/02/2020 08:53

I like her skinnies, but I wear them a lot myself even though they aren't really in fashion anymore.

Her trainers are awful. I get that she's trying to do high street but I'm late 30s too and neither me nor any of my friends would wear M&S plastic trainers in a million years. There are so many better and more fashionable options, her supergas would even have been better.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/02/2020 09:02

Green is definitely her colour as she always looks great in it. Are the trainers M&S's attempt to take on the likes of Veja or All Birds?

OP posts:
banivani · 27/02/2020 09:22

I'd say you're right Queen. And I think they look nice, and Kate wearing M&S is the kind of championing I understand. Agree though that plastic shoes are not great, unless you're vegan and have no other choice like.

drina27 · 27/02/2020 10:09

If the trainers were Veja, people would have been queueing up to fawn!

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/02/2020 10:38

Princess Stephanie at a fashion show with her daughters. I didn't realise the elder one was a designer.

UrsulaPandress · 27/02/2020 10:40

Kate is so slim those green pants just sort of waft around her hips.

I too would have loved to see her in some serious gym clothes.

Shoeshelpplease · 27/02/2020 11:32

I love it when they wear high street.

Although I suspect that the access to dressmakers with the ability to tailor to make items an absolute fit mean it's not higher street as many of us would have the access to.
