Lip filler, how much? Pic included

I've tired to take a 'pouty' picture Blush

Basically, I'm wanting a bit more 'lip' on my upper lip. The bottom one seems fine to me, naturally, but it's just the top.

I know someone who's been recommended countless times and I've decided to go for it.

Could anyone guide me on how much I'd need for a very subtle look?

Thanks so much!

I'm a lip aesthetician. I personally don't think you need them doing, and my husband just agreed. Your face is beautiful, you have character, I'm concerned if you go down the lip filler route, your lips will look like everyone else. But if you really do insist, 1ml. and make sure the injector does not make both your lips the same size.

Fairylea · 21/12/2019 20:23

Don’t do it. Seriously. You are beautiful and have an amazing natural look. If you start adding fillers it will ruin that and you’ll regret it when you get older.

Haworthia · 21/12/2019 20:27

Don’t do it. You don’t need it. No one does. If I had a quid for every woman I see bemoaning their lack of top lip - it’s normal!

Everywhere I look on Instagram I see young women who have RUINED their faces with fillers. There was a girl from TOWIE with so much filler in her top lip it had formed a shelf, FFS.

Don’t do it.

Greenglassteacup · 21/12/2019 20:31

Leave your lovely face alone

Waterandlemonjuice · 21/12/2019 20:32

Ffs - none

SeasideThisChristmas · 21/12/2019 20:36

You’re beautiful. You don’t need filler.

Even 0.5, although it will give you a slightly fuller top lip, will create that unnatural ridge effect that is very very obvious.

You have a naturally lovely mouth. Don’t touch it.

cheezy · 21/12/2019 20:37

But surely you’d need to have it topped up over and over again - is it really worth the hassle? Wouldn’t it be very expensive? Do you not have other, bigger, more important things to think about? What do you truly value in life OP? Very slightly (probably imperceptible to others) more even lips or...what? Do you think you might have low self esteem?

mymadworld · 21/12/2019 20:37

@Sodamncaughtinthemiddle I've seen lots of filled lips and I'd reckon 90% of people would say the same as you but trust me, they do not look natural. Ever. The other 10% are those that are going for the bigger the better artificial look.

DurhamDurham · 21/12/2019 20:39

I hate the fake lips look, it's becoming almost normal to see women with inflated lips, a woman I was talking to today was lisping because of her oversized upper lip. I've spoken to her pre lip inflation and she definitely didn't lisp then. It's so sad and she did look ridiculous.
I think you're beautiful and have lovely natural features. I know it's up to you but you did ask.

knightorpray · 21/12/2019 20:39

What do you truly value in life OP?

My gorgeous DS. And food. All the food Grin

Well then. Save your money and buy some lovely treats for you and your DS Xmas Smile

knightorpray · 21/12/2019 20:46

A pic of me smiling - the thinner upper lip becomes more prominent, this has been prominent out to me by a few friends who have lip fillers and know what's what. They do like a very full pout but they can advise on other 'types' too I suppose

I will try the lip pencil anyway. I'd ideally not go down any invasive routes but I just wanted a nice 'change'. I feel as if a newer look might be nice.

Never been into dying hair etc and never would so can't do that

You would probably get away with 0.5ml. The top lip should always be smaller for it to be natural.

Good lip fillers never cause the ridge, especially if placed with a cannula. Have a look at the Consultant Clinic. They are the absolute best for fillers.

I’m not saying you need them, but if you want them then have them. But do your research.

Stillabitemo · 21/12/2019 20:50

I would start with 1ml. Most people who get 0.5ml don’t notice enough of a difference and want more. Plus as it dissolves 1ml keeps the effect for longer.

Good luck! And don’t panic on day two when you’re really swollen - totally normal. Keep hydrated and applying lip balm.

DuchessofWoke · 21/12/2019 20:54

This is a joke right? No responsible person would inject crap into that beautiful face. Put these daft vain thoughts out of your head.

I guarantee you look nicer and classier than any of your trout pout friends.

Lip fillers turn my stomach. Please don’t. You are very lucky to be naturally pretty.

Greenglassteacup · 21/12/2019 20:55

Your friends are all going to end up looking like toilet plungers, leave them to it

SeasideThisChristmas · 21/12/2019 20:55

You are gorgeous, OP. And young. Don’t start fucking with your face. You honestly don’t need it.

MustardScreams · 21/12/2019 20:56

When did it become ok to belittle and take the piss out of women that have fillers?

Fair enough you may not like them, or the look it creates, but some women (and men) do. You can say it’s a bad idea in your opinion without dragging other women down.

DickDewy · 21/12/2019 20:57

Keep your lips as they are. They are fine.

You have massive eyebrows. You don't need your lips to compete.

knightorpray · 21/12/2019 20:58

Dick I like them. I look weird with thinner brows, doesn't suit my face shape

OP posts:
GlamGiraffe · 21/12/2019 20:58

Your lips are already quite full, I would be extremely concerned youd look like a caricature if you did anything to them.
Your top lip doesnt actually look thinner when you are smiling, you just look like a person with natural lips who is smiling.
I'm absolutely not against injectables, but in your case I think it would be the wrong thing to do and be a negative move.
If you want a change try some nice low lights of highlights perhaps. If you dont like them you can dye straight back over them.
Meanwhile take yourself and DS for a photo session to capture how lovely and special you both are.

crosstalk · 21/12/2019 21:03

OP you are gorgeous and original. Why do you want to spend serious money on potentially buggering up your face just to look like your friends?

DickDewy · 21/12/2019 21:04

I wasn't casting aspersions. But with big brows plus big lips - it can start to look alarming.
