Here’s a release from the photographer who took the pictures

The queen looks to be in a more supervisory role😂

Ps my new goal is to have as many crowns as that on my Christmas tree next year 😂

itswinetime She'd obviously popped over to the BP shop...

AppleKatie · 21/12/2019 22:42

This is the big news that was embargoed til 10pm Confused

StartupRepair · 21/12/2019 22:45

George looks so sweet.

Ocomeocomeimaginaryfleas · 21/12/2019 22:57

Tree groaning with crowns, four generations of present and future monarchs. I think it's a strong response to the Andrew fiasco. It says "We're going nowhere for the foreseeable."

Haworthia · 21/12/2019 23:06

That’s a nice photo of the Queen laughing. Sweet.

SenecaFalls · 21/12/2019 23:17

I spy a couple of Corgis on that tree as well.

itswinetime · 21/12/2019 23:18

I think it's a strong response to the Andrew fiasco. It says "We're going nowhere for the foreseeable."

I think it's meant to remind us this is the direct line, getting on with it no issues here. I think it's meant to refocus us on them and direct away from the issue of Andrew. Hopefully that means we will see the Cambridge children on the walk to church and Andrew can pop off and visit his dad!

Ocomeocomeimaginaryfleas · 21/12/2019 23:33

You put it better than I, @itswinetime but that's exactly what I meant.

Horsemad · 21/12/2019 23:51

@queenofarles - we live about 1.5 hrs away, so quite an early start for them. 🙂

AudacityOfHope · 22/12/2019 00:19

Two men in suits, a woman carrying a handbag and a spotless child mixing cake ingredients. Realistic. Confused

itswinetime · 22/12/2019 00:30

They are making Christmas pudding in the music room I'm not sure they were going for realistic Wink

I think as much as it serves a short term purpose there is the awareness that this is a historic image 4 generations of monarch that has never happened before and possibly won't again.

Avihoot · 22/12/2019 00:41

@itswinetime

4 monarchs

itswinetime · 22/12/2019 00:47

Yet again I am amazed by the knowledge on these threads! I will have to start swatting up to keep up with you all Grin

Encyclo · 22/12/2019 01:06

The crowns on the trees are making me giggle.
I mean do they really need so many crown decorations? Are they trolling us?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 22/12/2019 01:19

That expression on David there (future Edward VIII) makes me think of a cross looking Prince George.

Royal style: 'tis the season for tiaras, fa-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la
TracyBeakerSoYeah · 22/12/2019 01:20

And I think Charlotte has that expression down to a t.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 22/12/2019 02:08

Love that pudding photo.
William seems to quite enjoy a bit of cooking.
Roulade with Mary Berry and now Xmas puds with HM.

I have to say whoever is in charge of their PR at the moment is a genius.

TooleyVanDooley · 22/12/2019 02:44

Corgis and crowns on the tree, loving that!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 22/12/2019 06:29

Lovely photo of the 4 of them. George looks so cute. I’d like to have been present when the press realised there was no angle to the Cambridge’s arriving separately & that they needed to drop that line.

Focus away from Andrew’s awful interview, & H&M taking a break (obviously not in Andrew’s league IYSWIM).

Just The 4 present & future monarchs getting on with it. Brilliant PR.

pallisers · 22/12/2019 06:39

The pudding photo is lovely but as an Irish and American person can I ask - is there any other child in the kingdom wearing that kind of top? If there is I stand corrected. I've just never seen it in English media. loads of lovely modern nice clothes yes but not this round collared stuff from the 1940s. It is as Bertrand once said like a ghost from the blitz. There isn't a six year old I know whose parents would put him in that top. Why on earth do the DOCs do it.

Also. QOE is wearing what is perfectly appropriate for her age. As is Prince Charles. But would anyone of Prince William's generation actually wear a suit to stir a pudding? And put his son in a round collared top with a trim to boot. The Queen and Prince Charles get to dress like their generation, why can't the younger ones?

elfsocksandsnowboots · 22/12/2019 07:38

No @pallisers that's definitely not usual dress for children over here (and certainly not when mixing cake batter!).I've never seen a child dressed like that and we're in rather a conservative area.

I'm sure privately the Cambridge children are dressed more normally, the old fashioned smart clothing will be a public thing.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 22/12/2019 07:42

I’ve always thought they probably dress the dcs like that so if out & about in normal clothes they aren’t recognised.

peridito · 22/12/2019 07:50

pallisers my thoughts exactly about that ridiculous blouse on George .

Why ?
