Camilla was the only a Royal Bride not to wear a tiara on her wedding day.

Good point @CurlyWurlyTwirly Sophie may have numbers but not quality. Are all Camilla's from the queen mother? That's really interesting it makes it seem like maybe the queen is a bit of a jewels hoarder!Grin

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2019 23:28

Apparently Diana’s father gave her an empty jewellery box as a wedding present.
I actually don’t think Diana had that much jewellery; given her position.
She wore loads of costume jewellery

MotherofPearl · 11/12/2019 23:28

Oh yes, I see what you mean about Sophie's tiaras @CurlyWurlyTwirly. Apart from the aquamarine one they look rather flimsy and tinny.

ElspethFlashman · 11/12/2019 23:29

HMQs emerald drop necklace is a previously unseen one. That doesn't mean it's new though - it could be v v old. But it's exciting to see a new necklace!

I'm not keen on Kates look though. Too severe. She looks a bit frail for my tastes.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/12/2019 23:30

Kate's gown probably looks better in person as you'll be able to see the texture of the velvet. It just looks black in photos even though it's navy.

If we see Sophie (DiL of the sovereign) in a tiara now then we should see Meghan in one once Charles becomes king. I doubt his alleged 'slimming down' of the monarchy will involve excluding one of his children!

The QM in the Greville tiara which is the one worn most often by Camilla.
The necklace she is wearing was worn by Kate for a tiara function pretty recently. So Kate is getting access to some important jewellery.

I'd love a close up of the ring on Kate's right hand. Smile

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2019 23:40

The very versatile Delhi Durbar tiara.
I think the emeralds are the same ones on the Vladimir.

I wonder whether there is a job going as a royal jewellery polisher!

I think it’s the citrine ring Kate got as a push present for Louis

I don't think Diana brought the necklace into the marriage but we have seen Kate in her sapphire earring in the second photo that were a wedding present so I guess it depends who the necklace belonged to if it was a loan or a gift? The papers always talk about all the jewels she left William and Harry but we all know how reliable they are so maybe it's all a bit of a myth. Wherever the necklace is it would be perfect with Kate's ring and the earrings though.

I thought Kate looked good tonight - that style of dress suited her and she looked very appropriate. I do wonder whether with the tiaras you find one that is (reasonably) comfortable and feels 'right' so much easier to go with an old favourite.

I'd love to know what's happening here though...

Maybe he was getting warned about making jokes about trump on camera Wink

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/12/2019 23:54

I'm always taken aback by how beautiful Diana's skin was. I know she was very young but still!

I believe that citrine ring is really old. She's had that since before she was engaged.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 12/12/2019 05:58

Kate’s dress is McQueen
She may well have got her inspiration here...

Kate IMO has worn that colour to highlight her sash. I prefer her wedding tiara to the others but she obviously doesn’t & like PP I wonder if it’s a comfort thing. Maybe she wears the other tiaras in the bath Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/12/2019 07:26

The dress is a bespoke version of this one. Yours for about £6k, though I prefer Kate's. Not a fan of the lacy back.

MotherofPearl · 12/12/2019 07:26

I don't think Kate's ring last night was the citrine one? From the photos of last night's ring it looks bigger and whiter than the citrine one?

beanaseireann · 12/12/2019 07:33

I thought so too MotherofPearl, it looks whiter.
Personally I really don't like the citrine ring.
I agree QueenoftheAndals, Disna's skin was luminous. She is so photogenic.

paradyning · 12/12/2019 07:40

Kate's dress is really similar to Queen Mathilde's one from the end of last year. Only the neck was more off the shoulder

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 12/12/2019 08:08

Diana wasn't photogenic. She was absolutely breathtaking in real life, tall, athletic, glowing complexion and great hair. No photo does her justice. She had huge personal impact. I was in her physical presence two or three times and she was incredibly beautiful. So sad that she was so mentally fragile.

Encyclo · 12/12/2019 08:13

I don't love that dress on Kate. It's definitely wearing her rather than the other way around. I thinks its the lack of cinching at the waist that's causing the problem. If she was more voluptuous it would've worked better.

BertrandRussell · 12/12/2019 08:35

I usually get told off for this. But Kate is too thin. Considering that the camera puts 10lba on you, there is nothing to her.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 12/12/2019 08:41

Oh that dress on Grace Kelly!

I liked Kate's initially, and I still do, but having seen Grace Kelly's it does fade in comparison.

Also, too much bling. The necklace didn't go with the tiara, I though.
