Love HM’s emeralds

The embroidery on Camilla’s gown is gorgeous.
Only she & HM seem to wear white court dress

DOC is wearing one of the Queens wedding present necklaces and I think the earrings are recognisably the Queen's as well. She's really got her pick of the vault now.
Love the emeralds though, one of my favourite tiaras

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/12/2019 22:28

The style and navy velvet is a bit of a departure for Kate and she looks good. Camilla looks like Camilla. I struggle to differentiate one of her white dresses from another!

I think that dress has a hidden zip in the front @CurlyWurlyTwirly and there is something racy underneath.

banivani · 11/12/2019 22:30

Ooo the navy velvet looks good the bit we can see. Is it white court dress in the UK then?

pallisers · 11/12/2019 22:32

DOC looks nice but how many tiaras does that family have - many of which never see the light of day - and DOC can only wear the Cambridge Lovers Knot one.

Camilla looks lovely. The grey dress on the lady she is standing next to is lovely too.

margotsdevil · 11/12/2019 22:33

I always associate velvet dresses with winter and particularly Christmas nothing at all to do with the series of velvet party dresses my mum picked out when I was too young to object so the DoC's outfit feels very appropriate to me! Plus I always think incredible jewellery like that needs a very plain dress to allow it to dazzle as it should - if the dress had lots of lace/ruffles/embroidery then some of the impact would be lost.

thisenglishlife · 11/12/2019 22:46

A bit harsh a look for Kate, not a complimentary colour near her face at night (too dark with no brightness). Compare with the more flattering looks for 2016 and 2015 (with the same tiara).

Nice to see DoC sporting some serious bling, but I'm bored of the tiara... would love to see her in a different one for a change. Loving CPV!!! Channeling her inner Max 😄

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2019 22:51

Agreed @Gooseysgirl

She could wear her wedding tiara and have a fancier updo.
Both the Cartier scroll and Lotus flower tiaras Are really pretty

beanaseireann · 11/12/2019 22:51

I love Kate's dreo.
I really don't like CPV's red dress.

Wetdogloveshubert · 11/12/2019 22:54

Kate did get some serious bling out tonight though - tiara, necklace, earrings and a stonker of a ring too. Camilla's tiara is still one of my least favourites - it's too high and crown-like.

itswinetime · 11/12/2019 22:56

I'm not sure on Kate's dress tonight. I like that it isn't pale blue and I like it's a little different but I think maybe it would have been better not in black it is a bit matronly, it's nice to see her in the floaty gown look though! Also like I said earlier good to see the sparkle, I think we can all agree she must be lurking on the threads Wink

Camilla has the best outfit by far for me. But I'm a big fan of the queens tiara I think it might be one of my favs Especially with the emeralds!

Kate's necklace is this one 'the Nizam of Hyderabad necklace' which was a wedding present to the queen (according to Twitter) Kate has worn it before curly so you may well be right! Good spot.

Ps I take back my earlier moan about lack of photos Kate sorry Wink

MotherofPearl · 11/12/2019 22:59

Totally with @beanaseireann on this - love, love, love Kate's dress tonight, but not CPV's which is a total shocker imo! Those sleeves! Shock

Gosh I do like velvet.

Finally some jewels for us to get our teeth into. HMQ wins with those emeralds.

StCharlotte · 11/12/2019 23:04

I do think Kate does fantastic tiara hair and wears that tiara so beautifully, although it would be nice to see something different.

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 11/12/2019 23:06

Lovely to see some dresses and jewellery at last, even if it has all come at once with the Nobels, then the dinner and then the diplomatic reception! What a couple of days! Is that it now till the Christmas church photos?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2019 23:06

I think Kate needs a tiara with some coloured stones.
There’s definitely a sapphire suite knocking around which was last seen on Queen Mary.
I suspect the Vladimir will be worn by Camilla next.
There’s that fancy diamond and ruby parure which is part of the 40 tiaras I linked to on p.1. I think Kate should be loaned it.
I wonder if we will ever see Meghan in a tiara.... I’ve sort of forgotten about her a bit. It’s definitely out of sight out of mind.

Haworthia · 11/12/2019 23:08

What’s all this about the NCP chap leaving £50m for a new yacht??? They won’t seriously accept that, surely?

I baulked at this news today. Imaging leaving £50 million to the Royal family. Mind boggling.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2019 23:14

The Burmese Ruby & Cambridge sapphire tiaras which I think Kate should have.
I also think she should have some more piled up hairstyles like Princess Margaret.

I can see why that tiara is Kate's go to, it's a lovely tiara and it suits her but I do think if she doesn't like the others, I'm thinking particularly of her wedding one which she has never worn again she should swap them out. I know the article the other day said tiaras are loaned for life but Anne wore the Cartier Halo Tiara in her youth and then it obviously went back into the vault so it can't be a hard and fast rule.

Seems silly to have 3 Tiara's and only wear one. I do wonder if it's a little bit about status/position though Kate is a granddaughter in law to the monarch whereas, Camilla and Sophie are daughter-in-law to the monarch maybe that earns you extra bling and obviously Anne as the only daughter of the monarch so she would get first dibs. Maybe it's nothing to do with that though 🤷🏻‍♀️ Maybe if we ever see Meghan have a chance to wear some bling it will become more clear.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2019 23:17

To pp, yes, this is the last big outing for the royals before Xmas.
We’ll probably get a pr shot of HM taking the train to Norfolk and then all the Royal Xmas cards for us to analyse.
( There should be loads given all the a European Royal Houses)

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2019 23:21

Sophie definitely wasn’t rewarded for being a daughter in law.
Her first 2 tiaras were awful; really I’ll fitting
It’s only the new Aquamarine one which is pretty.

Camilla’s tiaras are courtesy of the QM.
I don’t think the Queen has loaned her any tiaras.
Remember she wore that ( very stylish ) wheatsheaf headdress on her wedding day.

Would love either the ruby or the sapphire tiara for DoC Curly!

itswinetime · 11/12/2019 23:23

Kate May get the ruby one eventually but I don't think it will be while the queen is alive the Cambridge sapphire sounds perfect for her though linked to her title and would match her engagement ring and the sapphire necklace of Diana's from the same set (I think) some one posted the other day which hasn't been seen in years and I'm guessing was in the collection inherited by William and Harry.

I wonder if we will ever see Meghan in a tiara.... I’ve sort of forgotten about her a bit. It’s definitely out of sight out of mind.

I think if they stay in a public role we will definitely see her in a tiara but I don't think we will see it till Charles is king.
