Is this dress too short for 39!?

I got this dress from whistles which I love until DH said it was a touch too short. I'm 39 years old and don't want to look mutton!

What do you think?

PEOPLE do care about their appearance, they might focus on different things, but it's very much a huge thing for most people.

Some do not care, but most do.

And this too old thing is just a construct designed to keep women in their place and feel bad about ageing.
as it applies to men too, I don't see what it has anything to do with feminism.

If it looks good and feels good then wear it! I'd wear it and I'm 37, though it would depend on the occasion. If I was going somewhere where I had to sit down for a long time I probably wouldn't wear it because I'd be forever adjusting it but if it was for a night out where I'd be standing up a lot it would be fine!

Depends on where you are going to wear it. I wouldn't wear it to my job (because it would be frowned upon AND would take the focus off of my abilities and put them in my looks), but I think it's adorable and completely appropriate for a night out with your significant other or friends. My two cents...
