Is this dress too short for 39!?

I got this dress from whistles which I love until DH said it was a touch too short. I'm 39 years old and don't want to look mutton!

What do you think?

Aaaaarrgghh I hate threads like this. What fucking decade are we in? Why shouldn’t women wear what they want regardless of age. I’m 53 and wear arse-skimming dresses. You honestly look lovely IMO. Tell your DH he is showing HIS age, as notions about skirt (and also hair) lengths and age are: a) outdated now and b) were always utter bullshit designed to create insecurities in the first place.

@theEnglishInPatient I know, and I find it very sad. I dress for me not anyone else, if anyone doesn’t like it they have poor taste imo! It’s so sad that in this day and age that women are still so worried about stuff like this. Men aren’t. And this too old thing is just a construct designed to keep women in their place and feel bad about ageing. What happened to feminism eh?

Not at all, you have the legs & figure for it. It looks great with the thick tights. Age is just a number. There's always going to be the odd catty remark, but that's something those types will find any excuse for, so best ignored. The rest of us will think you look great.

Absolutely not! It looks gorgeous! And it's not like you are going bare legged! If you were 70 I might say a longer length would be better but at your age you certainly don't need to start dressing like an OAP! Besides, whatever you put on to wear, if you look in the mirror and YOU feel good, then go for it!
