“ In the interview Andrew said the family had been very supportive”
Didn’t he say the “wider family”?

FaithHowellsYellowCoat · 21/11/2019 22:48

I think you’re right Bert but who does he mean by that? I can see Princess Michael being fine with it, (hopefully) William and Harry etc not.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/11/2019 23:18

I wouldn't have thought either William or Harry are particularly close to Uncle Andrew?

Full quote from the transcript...I don't think you can read anything into it was a load of bullshit like the rest of what he said! I don't there will have been support for Andrew from the Wales boys and families but as the question included his girls he could have been speaking about them. Who hopefully the whole family are rallying around!

'EM: I wonder what effect all this has had on your close family? You've got your daughters of your own.

PA: It has been, what I would describe as a constant sore in the family. We all knew him and I think that if we have a conversation about it, it's… we are all left with the same thing, what on earth happened or how did he get to where he was, what did he do, how did he do it?

And so it's just a constant sort of gnaw. I mean this first came out in 2011 and it was a surprise to… to all of us because the photographs were published at a separate time to when I was there and then we sort of questioned what on earth is going on and as a family we discussed it.

And then in 2015 when the allegations were made in the deposition, there was a sort of… there was a sort of… this is the immediate family, not the wider family. The wider family couldn't be more supportive but the immediate family, it was well, what's all this about? And we all just were at a loss so it's just..'

PinkSun9 · 22/11/2019 02:49

So, it seems the wider family were quite supportive of Andrew but they couldn't extend their support to PH & MM who were/are relentlessly and mercilessly bullied by the media. Strange family 🤔

Pootiepie · 22/11/2019 06:42

De-lurking to say I thought of you all earlier when I happened to be right where Camilla was doing a walkabout.

She got out the car, went to the loo, then went for a wander. Looking good I though (and for some reason shorter than I imagined!)

That second photo is brilliant. Camilla looks like she is being goosed.

Wetdogloveshubert · 22/11/2019 07:16

Checking in, thanks @QueenOfTheAndals!

Camilla does look less healthy than she has, but 'game' as always.

This has gone up on Twitter. Kate's dress was a rewear from January this year.

K&M met the King and Queen of Bhutan yesterday too. Would love to have seen those photos.

Re PA. I highly doubt K&M's kids are affected and that is has anything to do with her missing the event

beanaseireann · 22/11/2019 07:30

In the second photo of Kate in the green dress that Wetdogloveshubert posted is the dress torn on the right hand side of the picture ?
It looks it to my eyes.
It would be the left hand side of the wearwr of the dress iykwim.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 22/11/2019 07:33

Pink I suspect the family were as supportive to Andrew as they were to H& M tbh.

I don’t believe for a minute the RF haven’t reached out them but I think they will have told them it will blow over, keep heads down etc which may or may not have been what they wanted to hear.

I think Harry is hellbent on going after the media because of what happened to his mother.

He cannot see that —rightly— or wrongly the press gun for every new female member of RF until the next one comes along.

BertrandRussell · 22/11/2019 07:51

“ I don’t believe for a minute the RF haven’t reached out them”

They don’t strike me as a reachy outy family.

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/11/2019 08:20

He cannot see that rightly or wrongly the press gun for every new female member of RF until the next one comes along.

I actually don't think it's right for the press to gun for women who marry into the royal family so I have no issue with Harry's lawsuit. Just because it's something that's gone on for years doesn't mean it's acceptable!

Princess Märtha Louise was on Swedish telly talking about growing up as a highly sensitive person in a RF.
www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/prinsessan-martha-louise-det-ar-som-att-vara-som-en-app

It might turn up in English somewhere - meanwhile I was amused at how well she toned down her Norwegian and adjusted it into "Scandinavian Swedish" for our benefit!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 22/11/2019 08:30

Oh I see I had a strike out fail on rightly.

I agree that’s it’s wrong of the press to do it but I wouldn’t have gone down the lawsuit route & just kept my head down. I also wouldn’t have said anything negative about the family on film. But that’s me not them & I'm not living their everyday life they are & only they know how bearable or unbearable it is.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 22/11/2019 08:30

If H&M are on a 6 week break perhaps that is why no one has been in touch. Also there are slightly more important things going on right now. The last time things were this bad for the royals was when Diana died.

BertrandRussell · 22/11/2019 08:33

Who was supposed to be in touch with who?

BeatriceTheBeast · 22/11/2019 08:39

@QueenOfTheAndals, I think that poster maybe meant to say that H can't see that the truth of it is, that the press gun for every new female member of the RF.

The thing is though, isn't it good that he's trying to hold them to account for that? Whether it's his mother or Meghan or Kate or any other woman who marries in to the current shit show, it needs to be pointed out that this only happens to women and it ruins their lives.

I don't know if H&M will have any success though tbh. I also think some of the rhetoric they are using doesn't make them look all that in touch with the rest of society and announcing how difficult their lives are, immediately after seeing some extremely poor people living in Africa, was possibly unfortunate timing, in hindsight.

But they seem to be keeping their heads down now and are getting less flack. So at least they have said something and hopefully are persuing the court case, even if we don't hear about it.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 22/11/2019 08:39

@beanaseireann
The skirt part of Kate’s green dress has buttons on the rhs.
Thé «tear» is where the butttons finish

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/11/2019 08:40

@WineOrGinOrBoth He spoke negatively about his family? I only know about the answer about William and I didn't think it was particularly negative.

Let's hope by the time George or Louis marry the media will have moved on from attacking every new female royal. If it had been Meghan who'd pulled out of an engagement at the last minute like Kate did yesterday then it would've been splashed across the tabloids today!

X post- slow typing on my phone!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 22/11/2019 08:43

Why H&M are briefing People magazine to say no one has been in touch?
Perhaps they could have asked the Queen over for tea this weekend to celebrate her anniversary. I think HM needs the support at the moment.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 22/11/2019 08:44

Imelda Staunton to play The Queen in series 5 of The Crown

WineOrGinOrBoth · 22/11/2019 08:45

Didn’t Meghan say no one had asked if they were ok? That’s what I mean by negative. Sorry I’ve had a horrid virus - 2 bloody weeks now- and aren’t thinking clearly all most of the time. Someone will be along to correct me if I’m wrong. I should really just stick to the pretty frocks when feeling this rough.

BeatriceTheBeast · 22/11/2019 08:49

Oh that's an interesting choice for the next series of The Crown. Imelda Staunton is fabulous. I really need to start watching it! I haven't seen a single episode. Who shows it please? Is it on Netflix or Amazon or what?
