Unless there is something we don’t know, some reason for blackmail perhaps, then I can only surmise that, miserable as she is - and I’ve never seen a public figure look quite so miserable carrying out their duties - Charlene wanted the wealth, the lifestyle and the status of being princess of Monaco. Otherwise why on earth did she go through with it? There’s no warmth between them. She is aloof and, by all accounts, rude at engagements. She doesn’t speak French very well from what I have read about her. I know Albert needed to get married but he must have had far more suitable and “pliable” women (easier options) throwing themselves at him. The whole relationship baffles me. I would LOVE to know the real story.
