I'm not keen on Kate's Alessandra Rich dress, it's a bit dull for a thirtysomething, more suitable for someone Mary Berry's age. I thought with the droopy pussy bow and long gathered sleeves it was a poor choice for cooking in, but perhaps she just presents the completed dish at the end, so doesn't risk dipping the silk bow in the buttercream!

MillyMollie · 01/12/2019 16:13

Oh my Kate looks so thin in that photo with William, Nadiya and Mary Berry.
I love Mary Berry's pink.

MillyMollie · 01/12/2019 16:16

As Jim Royle would say "Royal Doulton my ar*e !"

The state of poor Charlotte.
That is a disgrace.

paradyning · 01/12/2019 16:16

Agree the dress is hideous. She does suit the midi dress length but omg her style is dreadful.

paradyning · 01/12/2019 16:18

The Alessandra Rich dress is so much better in its original form

Spudlet · 01/12/2019 16:18

I hate pussy bows with a passion, Kate needs an intervention to be staged. She’s been Valerie Jones-ed again! What would St Jilly say?!

AdaColeman · 01/12/2019 16:22

Is that the Grimaldi Christmas card? Albert needs to change his official photographer. Though at least there is some physical contact between the participants, unlike with the wider family portrait which we saw recently.

SenecaFalls · 01/12/2019 16:25

I think just the opposite. A dress like that on an older woman is even frumpier than it is on a younger one. I'm younger than Mary Berry but definitely a woman of a certain age, and I would never wear something like that dress, especially the pussy bow feature.

Ghastly photo in the DM of Charlene greeting some F1 driver in Monaco.
She's been messing with her lovely face Sad

Mind you she looks pretty happy with the hug Wink

paradyning · 01/12/2019 17:48

Oooooo that's a lot of filler

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/12/2019 18:23

@MillyMollie

Yikes ! She is heading into Bride of Wildestein territory...

Those Royal Doulton figures. I have no words. Shock

mathanxiety · 01/12/2019 20:09

DevonUkelele YYY, both wonderful writers, each with his own sense of humour too. I have an entire shelf of one bookcase devoted to the pair of them.

I love both of KM's dresses - I tend to like that 70s style (I loved Meryl Streep's wardrobe in 'The Post') and I think as a style it looks a lot nicer than, say, her blue engagement dress.

Indeed, someone should have co-ordinated the colours the four of them wore Shock.

Poor Charlene, always looks so unhappy, and what a pity about her face.

mathanxiety · 01/12/2019 20:11

The Monaco Christmas card photo is shockingly bad - they all look as if they are dressed for different seasons and occasions, and so grim.

And the RD figurines - yikes!

pastaparadise · 01/12/2019 20:31

curly that photo of Charlene is very strange. Her face looks artificially young compared to her hand which looks like it belongs to an enormous elderly monster

BertrandRussell · 01/12/2019 20:44

I do hope William wears some local clothes while he’s in Kuwait and Oman. Maybe he could feature a young Kuwaiti designer?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/12/2019 21:09

Talk of slimmed down RF and Charles as «Regent» in 18 months.

I do however wonder how that leaves people like Anne, Sophie and Edward (as well as the older generation) who do the lion’s share of the work.
I do think they should move towards having patrons who have been successful in other ( non political) areas of public life, such as was mooted for a non political president. It would be nice to have a patron who actually had years of experience supporting a charity, rather than a few days or weeks of a «taster».

BertrandRussell · 01/12/2019 21:13

When your clothes choice is older than Mary Berry’s it’s time to rethink.

MillyMollie · 01/12/2019 21:18

Somebody on Mumsnet once stated that when the DM print a photograph, sometimes the photograph is getting a message across that the uninitiated don't get but those " in the know" do - there is no need for words.
They are hinting at things.

banivani · 01/12/2019 21:19

Had to google Rich, London designer I see. I like it when DoC seems to have the line of promoting British designers. I also like the pussy bow which in Sweden is a strong feminist statement these days so if DoC is on that train maybe it’s a hidden message about Andrew ;) www.vogue.com/article/pussy-bow-symbol-political-protest-from-melania-trump-to-sara-danius

I often wonder what you’d like DoC to wear? No one ever seems happy?

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/12/2019 21:20

Charlene is only 41 but is already getting that strangely-ageless-yet-old look that comes from too much facial work.

Charlene has some lovely rings going on there. And a great manicure too!

Re: the photo DM hinting. We're you referring to Charlene's photo?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/12/2019 21:36

@MillyMollie

Are you talking about the Charlene photo?

vivacian · 01/12/2019 21:51

Somebody on Mumsnet once stated that when the DM print a photograph, sometimes the photograph is getting a message across that the uninitiated don't get but those " in the know" do - there is no need for words.

I remember that, but none of the details. The only one I can recognise is how they report deaths by suicide, without explicitly mentioning suicide.

vivacian · 01/12/2019 21:52

Newspapers that is, not the Daily Mail.
