Awwww H&M really are an attractive couple Smile😍

banivani · 28/11/2019 09:04

Swedish media (well, Svensk Damtidning so "media" ) say that QE is planning to retire when she's 95? They cite "British media" so that could be the Daily Fail and not worth the energy used to google.

Swedish king and queen are off to India next week, might be an occasion for some glamour.

SenecaFalls · 28/11/2019 12:48

Any news on what Meghan and Harry are doing today for Thanksgiving?

frugalkitty · 28/11/2019 13:22

The Mail thinks they're in Canada because they used a maple leaf on their Instagram post......Hmm

ajandjjmum · 28/11/2019 13:25

Maybe they are - hope they're enjoying their peace and quiet. I'm finding it rather refreshing not to see them splashed over every newspaper tbh.

AdaColeman · 28/11/2019 13:38

What baffles me about H&M is that though they say they are searching for peace and calm, they continue to post personal messages via the media, even when supposedly on holiday to get away from public scrutiny.

Why remind the public about what is a personal anniversary? Why?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/11/2019 14:40

I agree. Addicted to social media.

Encyclo · 28/11/2019 15:05

What did we think about Meghan's wedding dress? I wasn't in this thread at the time.

Hit or Miss?

QueenOfTheAndals · 28/11/2019 15:09

I don't think these threads existed then either! Definitely a hit for me - it suited her perfectly and was the ideal foil for her veil. But I liked her Stella McCartney evening reception gown even more!

I think the retire at 95 story was in the Sun - it appeared on my phone, I didn't mean to read the Sun. But the Duke of Edinburgh withdrew from public life at 95 according to the article, so since that was possible I suppose it makes sense?
I wonder how he is keeping.

ajandjjmum · 28/11/2019 15:33

I reckon the Royal Family knew he needed to retire for his health (and sanity?!), and the Queen finally persuaded him by saying 'you finish and 95, and then I promise I will'. So she has to! Grin

I hope that Charles is spending a few days with him at the moment, and it's not just paper talk.

frugalkitty · 28/11/2019 15:35

I was on a thread for the royal wedding....didn't these threads come from then? I can't remember.

Overall I liked the idea of Meghan's wedding dress but I don't think it fitted very well through the torso and sleeves, I liked the tiara and veil, make up spot on, didn't like the messy hair.

Inniu · 28/11/2019 15:50

Megan’s wedding dress was very like mine from 20 years earlier so I approved.

AdaColeman · 28/11/2019 16:08

I was rather disappointed with the wedding dress. She was heading for forty, and had been previously married, so I was hoping for something more avant-garde, perhaps some colour or layered fabrics, rather than the virginal white.
The fit was poor around the bust, it looked as though it needed a dart or two, and I didn't think the slash neckline suited her face shape.
She looked much better in the Stella McCartney evening dress.

QueenOfTheAndals · 28/11/2019 16:13

I liked that her dress was body-skimming rather than bodycon.

OP posts:
SenecaFalls · 28/11/2019 16:14

I loved Meghan's dress. It fitted just as it was supposed to, with that 1960s Givenchy Audrey Hepburn-Jackie Kennedy skimming the body style. And the neckline was especially lovely. The whole effect with veil and tiara was very elegant.

ajandjjmum · 28/11/2019 16:15

I loved the dress and veil.

BertrandRussell · 28/11/2019 16:35

I think a lot of the objections to Meghan’s dress stem from us being used to body-con. “Skimming” has started to look like “too big”

JaimeBronde · 28/11/2019 16:36

I thought Meghan's wedding dress looked gorgeous on her & I loved the boat neck, she has beautiful shoulders & the neckline emphasised them.
The dress with it's pared back look made me think of Jackie Onassis early 1960s & the sort of style really suits Meghan.

JaimeBronde · 28/11/2019 16:37

I see Seneca thinks the same.

Spudlet · 28/11/2019 16:52

I loved Meghan’s dress, I thought it was so elegant. I liked her evening one too, but it was a bit run of the mill in comparison, to my eyes. Very pretty but nothing particularly special.

MotherofPearl · 28/11/2019 16:57

Another vote in favour of Meghan's wedding dress. It was beautiful in its simplicity.

When did these threads start? I associate their inception with around the time of H&M's NZ tour but I could be misremembering.

QueenOfTheAndals · 28/11/2019 16:59

I think it was around the time Harry's cousin got married. There was a discussion about the outfits at her wedding so I thought I'd start a royal style thread. Never did I think we'd still be going some 30-40 threads later!

OP posts:
Horsemad · 28/11/2019 17:24

I loved Meghan's dress, thought she looked beautiful in it.

IIRC, these threads started just after H&M's wedding, didn't they? 🤔

SeaRabbit · 28/11/2019 17:27

That photo is lovely of them and the dress and the elegance of the tiara. That swoop!

My only problem with the tiara is the Victorian-looking brooch in the middle doesn't go with the Art Deco rest of the tiara. I love the two bits separately but to my eyes they don't go together.
