And the Pub Landlord for Louis Grin

Talking of Fabergé how about a piece of Fabergé to cheer up an air raid shelter (hope this comes out right):

Cornflowers and Oats Study

The Royal Fabergé Collection contains 26 flower studies, a number that no other Fabergé collection in the world can even begin to match. This study of cornflowers and oats is one of Fabergé’s most exquisite creations. It was purchased by Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary, respectively the mother and grandmother of the present Queen Elizabeth II (then Princess Elizabeth), on 27th June 1944. Queen Elizabeth described it as ‘a charming thing and so beautifully unwarlike’. The piece was purchased to cheer up Princess Elizabeth’s ‘shelter room’ at Buckingham Palace – hence the reference to ‘unwarlike’.

Hello - long time lurker here. I have a favour to ask! A while back people were recommending books for readers interested in the royals.

Could someone please list the titles that were mentioned? I know there was one in particular which is meant to be really good...

Thank you so much!! Thanks

Thank you Curly!!

Disfordarkchocolate · 27/11/2019 12:10

That's so beautiful BertrandRussell

jillandhersprite · 27/11/2019 12:24

i love that faberge - wow!

BertrandRussell · 27/11/2019 12:27

It was @SeaRabbit found it- I just did the link! It is beautiful isn’t it?

user1477391263 · 27/11/2019 13:04

Oh God, that picture of the Grimaldis makes me think of THAT Horrible Histories song....!

frugalkitty · 27/11/2019 15:55

My favourite Horrible Histories song is the one about Charles II Grin I know the words off by heart (actually I probably know all the HH songs of by heart) and there's a episode of just the songs if anyone knows what the flip I'm on about is interested.

justasking111 · 27/11/2019 16:27

I remember when a faberge flower turned up on the antiques roadshow last year. It was valued at more than one million pounds

BertrandRussell · 27/11/2019 16:31

I remember seeing loads of Faberge stuff in Moscow many years ago. If I shut my eyes I can still see it.

JaimeBronde · 27/11/2019 17:09

Oh yes frugal watched Horrible Histories many a time in this house.
Tunes from kids tv programmes stay in your head for years...... I can still know all the words sing Balamory & Me Too years later.

If I ever win the Euromillions (suppose it would help I bought a ticket Grin ) I'm going to start my Faberge collection.

I posted this link to one of our favourite tiara shops many threads ago.
The lavender photo frame in the bottom left hand corner is mine Grin

latedecember1963 · 27/11/2019 17:30

The saphire and diamond brooch on the 13th row would be my pick. 😍
Beautiful cornflower and oats photo, Bertrand. I know what you mean about being able to close your eyes and being transported back to somewhere. I can do that too.

Disfordarkchocolate · 27/11/2019 18:22

Can I have the broach on the 12th row?

jillandhersprite · 27/11/2019 18:30

I'll take the gold and rock crystal box if they're being dished out ;-)

MotherofPearl · 27/11/2019 18:33

I'd arm wrestle any of you for the Faberge aquamarine and diamond pendant. Grin

frugalkitty · 27/11/2019 19:10

If I'm having anything Faberge it's going to be an egg. I have a dream that I'll be one of those people on Antiques Roadshow one day who says "oh I found this at a car boot, only paid £2 for it, we've been keeping the cat treats in it" only to be told it's from the court of the last Tsar and worth a squillion quid Grin

MotherofPearl · 27/11/2019 20:33

I know it's not hugely exciting but I do think Princess Sofia looks very chic in this black outfit. We're not spoilt with much royal fashion to chat about at the moment...

It's 2 years since H&M's engagement so they've put an amusing and hitherto unseen wedding photo up on IG. Great view of the neckline of her dress, it skimmed her shoulders perfectly.

Lovely pic of H and M - and The Dress.

Terrible photo though - or maybe it's just my screen? It looks so overexposed, I can't see where Meghan ends and the background begins.

FATEdestiny · 27/11/2019 21:48

I really, really love her wedding tiara

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/11/2019 22:30

Can’t believe that was only 2 years ago; feels like about 5.

frugal I know the HH song episode. We love watching the bloopers too.

Anna Wintour is praising the DoC's winter outfits in the new 'Go Ask Anna'.

I basically spend a lot of time watching fashion and HH on you tube Hmm.
