hopefully a link to Kate's evening wear !

WineOrGinOrBoth · 25/11/2019 19:59

I grew up in the 60’s/70’s & matching outfits was definitely a thing in our family. Dsis & I frequently laughing at old photos!

paradyning · 25/11/2019 19:59

It's not a review per se but a scathing attack.

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/11/2019 20:00

Poor William! Peter Philips was probably relieved to be in a plain black suit but I don't know if Princess Anne went in for matchy-matchy outfits.

It's been a thing for a longer than that. HM and PM were often identically dressed. Which meant of course that so were all the other little girls of her generation. And then their children after that. As the elder sibling of two, let me tell you it was not appreciated Angry

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/11/2019 20:04

Agree @paradyning and quite sycophantic too.

Couldn’t agree more @Myimaginarycathasfleas Grin

I thought the review of The Crown in The Spector is spot on regarding series 3. Though there are bits in all 3 series that are incorrect or changed.
HMQ in series 3 is being portrayed as a cold heartless monster. It's almost like she is a totally different woman to the young woman she was.
I do agree that HMQ probably isn't very good at dealing with emotions so doesn't do them & that's probably why she can appear cold.
Maybe all the stuff that happened around the abdication, seeing her Father die young. Perhaps HMQ resented being forced to be Queen but felt unable or helpless to refuse as it had been drummed into her that she must be Queen.
Can you imagine the shock & upset if HMQ had refused to take the throne in 1952. The fallout would have been horrendous & she viewed as a pariah & most likely banished & shunned by her family & social circle. The general public wouldn't have like it either.

MotherofPearl · 25/11/2019 21:35

Thanks for that link to Kate's evening wear - I don't remember ever seeing this red dress before. I like it!

So do I!

NoGravyForYou · 25/11/2019 22:34

Thanks for that KM link, there were a few of her earlier ones that I had forgotten about and are stunning.
I still love that red tea length dress on her!

Inniu · 25/11/2019 22:51

So is anyone going to do the weekend course in the V&A on Royal Dress and Appearance next March?

pastaparadise · 25/11/2019 23:28

Royal jewels stolen in Dresden worth over €1bn. The article says they'll probably be split up as they're too recognisable. Such a shame. www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/world-europe-50545003

JaimeBronde · 25/11/2019 23:34

Ok which one of us is the culprit?
(Considering we'd all love a tiara or 3)

pastaparadise · 25/11/2019 23:49

Jaime i wouldn't mind the 643 carat sapphire for Christmas Wink

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 26/11/2019 02:03

@Innui
Can you post a link please? ( I cannot find the course on the V&A website)

StCharlotte · 26/11/2019 07:08

CP Mary’s coat reminds me of this matching duo. I was expecting a picture of these two...

I have a very similar dress to that Beulah red velvet but I'm guessing mine cost a couple of zeros less!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 26/11/2019 10:34

Thank you @Innui

The course overview looks really interesting
However I already know I won’t be able to make that weekend.
Love the V&A though

Speaking of which, who in the end went to see the Dior exhibition ?

StCharlotte · 26/11/2019 13:19

I went. I adored it. I have this dress as a screensaver and I daydream of wearing it to my Venetian civil wedding ceremony (which is also a daydream - not least because I've been married for 20 years Grin).

banivani · 26/11/2019 13:46

That could be an interesting exhibition!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 26/11/2019 14:09

@StCharlotte

I don’t remember that one from the Paris exhibition.
By the time I got round to getting tickets for the London show they were sold out...l Sad

BertrandRussell · 26/11/2019 14:18

Just seen on Twitter that the Queen has a stamp collection worth £100M. You couldn’t make it up....
