I’m curious about the stamp collection now. Has she bought the stamps or just amassed that many in stamps that have been sent to her over he reign?

BertrandRussell · 26/11/2019 14:32

According to Rebecca English on twitter, she is a “keen philatelist”
Which seems, frankly, unlikely.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 26/11/2019 14:35

I think the stamp collection may have been started by her grandfather who was a very keen philatelist. It's a world renowned collection I believe. As to whether HMQ is actually an active stamp collector herself who knows? Hard to imagine but perhaps it's so?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/11/2019 14:46

As Queen I’d have thought stamps would be interesting. UK ones with her face changing throughout the years. Previous of her father. World stamps, oh yes he’s a nice chap , she doesn’t look like that in rl etc...

Encyclo · 26/11/2019 15:05

The Queen's STAMPS are worth 100 million? I mean....

She is just drowning in wealth. It boggles the mind frankly.

Encyclo · 26/11/2019 15:07

But I guess she mends her clothes and turns out the lights, so it's all good 🤷‍♀️

BertrandRussell · 26/11/2019 15:15

Don’t forget the downgrading Of the Staff Christmas Puddings.....

megletthesecond · 26/11/2019 15:21

Imagine knowing all the heads of states on stamps Shock.

JaimeBronde · 26/11/2019 15:33

That's right Josephine the stamp collection was George V's.
Philately was his passion.

BigGreenOlives · 26/11/2019 16:35

What was the name of that tv programme in which people sold stuff in their lofts so they could go on holiday or treat their children? Cash in the Attic?

Maybe she’s worried about Andrew’s legal fees?

frugalkitty · 26/11/2019 16:44

Hmm.....I wonder what my collection of train tickets from my 80s childhood is worth??? Grin one million would do me!

AdaColeman · 26/11/2019 16:48

I keep meaning to get my stamp collection valued! Grin

JaimeBronde · 26/11/2019 17:42

Stamp Collector Man says 'Blah, blah, amazing. only one of its kind, blah blah blah'
HMQ nods & says 'Splendid, how enjoyable for one' whilst thinking will you shut the fuck off (excuse my language) I need the loo! 🤣🤣🤣

Encyclo · 26/11/2019 17:59

Don’t forget the downgrading Of the Staff Christmas Puddings..

Ah yes @BertrandRussell but she's frugal and we all admire her for that

Northernlurker · 26/11/2019 19:05

The stamp collection is one of the more unexpected bits of the Royal Collection. With the royal provenance attached some of it is basically priceless.

And don't forget the Faberge..........

HM owns two Easter eggs and a literal farmyard of faberge animals. Queen Alexandra loved Faberge - her sister the Tsarina basically had a standing order in and obvs one needs to keep up with sister. One year Edward VII got the Faberge team over in secret and they modelled the whole lot of animals at Sandringham and she got the lot for her birthday.

MotherofPearl · 26/11/2019 19:09

@StCharlotte - I absolutely love that dress you've posted, and you're right, it would be perfect for a Venetian civil ceremony!

I'd love to do that V&A course but don't live in London and can't easily get away without the DC.

Northernlurker · 26/11/2019 19:11

Oops it's actually three Faberge eggs!

Don’t forget the downgrading Of the Staff Christmas Puddings
Have always wondered which F&M pudding the Queen used to give her staff? Highgrove one? Wink

ajandjjmum · 26/11/2019 19:26

Wasn't it one of the Tesco ones she chose - after a blind tasting?

StCharlotte · 26/11/2019 19:39

I'd love to do that V&A course but don't live in London and can't easily get away without the DC.

If some of us did sign up we'd have to have a signal or wear a particular item so we could spot each other...

paradyning · 26/11/2019 19:59

Pics of the Yorks ladies at a memorial service today. Bea has a black ribbon in her hair. Kate has worn one too. I think it's a step too far personally into little girl chic
Pics are in the DM.
