Right. In the UK only "blood princesses" get to be Princess Givenname.
It's different in other monarchies. We have Crown Princess Mary, rather than Crown Princess Frederick, for example, in Denmark.

BertrandRussell · 11/11/2019 16:39

“ Meghan is wearing a hat similar to Princess Diana at Remembrance.”

Seriously? Well, it’s a wide brimmed hat- and a dark, belted coat......

Disfordarkchocolate · 11/11/2019 16:49

It's like those photos in the tabloids where they show two outfits that have hardly anything in common and say how 'Catherine is honouring her MIL', it's such rubbish. Baby wears bobble hat was laughable.

PCP, Alexander and Gabriel on a Father's Day trip to the Butterfly House in Haga Park yesterday. It is not known whether they visited CPV's house while they were in Haga Park.

Super hypothetical but bare with me...

If HM (93) and Prince Charles (71 this week) live as long as the queen mother (102), it will be around forty years before William and Catherine are king and queen. In that case, they'll be almost eighty (William is 36 and Catherine will turn 37 in two months). Prince Charles has been waiting many years to become king and this makes it less likely that he will abdicate early.

NoGravyForYou · 11/11/2019 17:57

William and Kate have an event tomorrow; Shout's crisis volunteer event. Has Kate retired the patterned midi dresses for winter?

And K&W are attending the Tusk Ball on Thursday night so hopefully we'll get a new long frock!

ElspethFlashman · 11/11/2019 18:06

Actually I hope we get a repeat. She has literally dozens of formal gowns we've seen only once.

PinkSun9 · 11/11/2019 18:15

I feel sorry for PC for the longest wait in history, for the title he has been prepared since birth. It would be sadder still if he were to pass away without ever being on the throne.

The European Monarchies have been quite practical with their successions.

justasking111 · 11/11/2019 18:26

The Tusk ball was in April, are they doing a second one this year cannot find it on website.

MrsGrindah · 11/11/2019 18:30

I think they are at the Royal Variety Perfomance soon?

I kind of miss the 80s when it comes to the Royal evening wear. Diana’s ball gowns were the height of sophistication to me ( a young teen then) and always eagerly awaited by the press. You don’t really get a ball gown these days.

I agree @PinkSun9
The funny thing is that the retirement age for someone born in 1948 (like Prince Charles) is 65.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/11/2019 18:32

W&K are going to the variety performance next week, I hadn't heard about the Tusk ball.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/11/2019 18:35

I stand corrected, the Tusk awards are on the 21st.

OP posts:
RomaineCalm · 11/11/2019 18:46

Sorry, my mistake, it's the awards rather than ball.

thisenglishlife · 11/11/2019 18:58

I'm somewhat uncomfortable with Prince William being involved with Tusk (and Wildlife Action, I think that's the name) when he has gone fox hunting, uses guns for hunting, goes on bird shoots and has hunted wild boar and other animals (including the week before launching a wildlife protection event).

He has also said:

"There is a place for commercial hunting in Africa as there is round the world"

"Ivory is not particularly cool" (duh)

We've not seen much of Charlene recently. I like her grey slightly military style coat a lot. Wish we could see the dress more clearly, but overall I think this is pretty chic.

The coat is Louis Vuitton - a rewear.

Are these black tights acceptable? I know everyone slated Kate's black tights on Saturday but I'm afraid I thought they were perfectly fine! Blush Genuinely didn't understand why people hated them!

BertrandRussell · 11/11/2019 19:02

The royal family’s record on animal welfare is definitely dodgy. However there is a view that very carefully controlled commercial hunting is a way of addressing the overpopulation of some animals and the economic welfare of humans. Don’t shoot me-I’m just the messenger!

MrsGrindah · 11/11/2019 19:12

The worst thing about the black tights was that they were neither sheer nor opaque ..just meh and with a navy dress

MrsGrindah · 11/11/2019 19:13

@BertrandRussell Don’t shoot me - I’m just the messenger! Grin

GoFiguire · 11/11/2019 19:18

Bang 💥 and the dirt is gone!

GoFiguire · 11/11/2019 19:21

I love Barry Scott

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 11/11/2019 19:46

Black tights were once quite the thing - after years of American Tan they seemed tremendously stylish.
