@PiedImperial Enjoy and come back to tell us all about it. Which royal is the patron? I think the Court Circular will only have it tomorrow?

IfWishesWereFishes · 06/11/2019 09:20

Me too @AppleKatie I felt like that would have been a bold statement in about 1985 Confused

BertrandRussell · 06/11/2019 09:30

The RF’s record on animal welfare is pretty dodgy- not really surprised by the fur thing. I would have thought their PR people would have decided it was counter productive to make an announcement about it though.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/11/2019 09:40

There's a photo of HM in the 60s in what I thought was a leopard-print coat but it's actually a leopard-skin coat!

Have a great time this evening @PiedImperial! I've got a work function this evening too (won't be nearly as glamorous as yours of course), so won't be able to check in for your report until later. Looking forward to hearing all about it!

frugalkitty · 06/11/2019 10:12

Ooh Pied have an amazing time....we expect a full report tomorrow! Grin

AdaColeman · 06/11/2019 10:21

Probably one that Phil shot Queen!

queenofarles · 06/11/2019 11:01

But she’d still wear what she has ?
which I imagine must be a vast collection of rare fur.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/11/2019 11:44

Am trying to remember when, apart from ceremonial occasions, we saw HM in fur?

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 06/11/2019 11:44

When we last saw HM in fur, that is.

Christmas at Sandringham?

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/11/2019 12:00

No, I don't think so @AdaColeman. She usually wears one of her brightly coloured suits.

I think it's years since HM wore fur - although she must have stacks of it! Probably stored along with all of the ivory that is no longer on display!

I have mixed feelings on this - after all, the animals are not going to be re-born just because you stop wearing them, so in effect, they've died in vain.

AppleKatie · 06/11/2019 12:37

Yes but I suppose the RF are walking catalogues aren’t they- if they wear it other people want to buy it which perpetuates the appetite for it.

Lunde · 06/11/2019 12:38

Victoria and Daniel in Bosnia today. I like the plum colour but the trousers seem too long - I'd probably end up in hospital with a broken leg.

HM The Queen is visiting very close to me today but dh says I won't get near so I'm waiting for the on line / local news pictures.

I feel much the same. Also, how on earth do you get rid of them? I speak as the custodian of inherited mink coats I have no interest in.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/11/2019 15:54

@SunshineCake are you near Aylesford ? I've got friends near there.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/11/2019 15:57

The Queen in Kent today

Becles · 06/11/2019 16:27

@Myimaginarycathasfleas I'd take them off your hands. I have my grandmother's mink and I love it.

thisenglishlife · 06/11/2019 16:37

Some royal fur moments (little HM and PM in their huge white fur coats!).

Loving the gold gown and rubies!

Strange isn’t it that fur is utterly horrific- but simultaneously utterly beautiful and flattering....

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 06/11/2019 17:20

Your grandmother would be delighted to know her mink was being loved, Becles.

paradyning · 06/11/2019 17:59

She has a shaggy carpet in her car!

thisenglishlife · 06/11/2019 18:17

Haha, she does! Well spotted @paradyning
