@CurlyWurlyTwirly you're right of course. Seeing Kate in that kind of couture would have been fabulous, but it would have "offended" so many with too much display of wealth, regardless of whether it was owned or simply worn that day.

Max looks bloody amazing, as always. She has such verve. Wax's beard does suit him (bet he doesn't deal with the fallout Harry does).

That's another "only Max" outfit but let's hope she doesn't drink too much water while wearing it! I saw a jumpsuit in a shop the other day that zipped up the back - imagine trying to get out of that when you need the ladies'??

I don’t think I said Kate should have dressed down for the Vogue Cover, I agree with @QueenOfTheAndals if you can’t go big in Vogue when can you.

But I do agree, Kate has always tried to play it safe.
I for one would love to see her in a ball gown and a massive tiara on the cover of Vogue.
Maybe she will when Charles is King. He doesn’t object to ostentation.

It's an 'only a man would design that' type of outfit! I've seen the zippers have long ribbons attached, but those would make me worry about others undoing the zip without my knowledge.

I think you misread me @CurlyWurlyTwirly. I definitely don't think Kate should have dressed down (though I liked her photos in Vogue), and more couture would have been fun.

Kate can do no wrong these days so if she posed in ball gowns she'd probably be applauded for promoting British fashion! Which to be honest, she would be doing. I think the clothes she did pose in were more "her" but not very Vogue. Even Princess Anne donned a fur and a tiara for her cover shot!

re the tartan dressing in Scotland I reckon they have so many clothes/outfits that they just choose from a couple laid out by their dresser .Who just thinks ooh Scotland let's wheel this out .

I guess I'm saying it's a shared lack of imagination ,a way to make outfit choice simpler .

Well they definitely wouldn't blend in as we're not all marching round our crofts in tartan and tweed.

Regarding the Vogue cover, it would have been a done and recycled idea, I think she made the right choice. That cover was so much her true self.

But So unvogue That’s why it was so shocking.

Olivia Colman’s cover is very typical for American Vogue, Kate’s was very British Vogue.

The two publications had vey distinct cover styles at the time.

Have stopped buying it now, so that might have changed.

Any predictions for what Meghan will wear? I'm guessing basic black and white, possibly a trouser suit.
