It's hot!

Off into town for a perfume-making day, so no SOTD. Ds bought it for me for my birthday, bless him, one of those 'experience days'. Terrible confession though; I can't really be bothered to go. I already have so much perfume I don't wear so I really don't need something I've inexpertly made myself Grin However I'm sure it will be fun and maybe I'll surprise myself!

Hoooo · 14/09/2019 11:31

Have fun maud

You will all be shocked to learn I'm wearing pp by the fireplace 🤣🤣

Tbh its gotten warmer since 8am so doesn't feel quite right now...

Calmasasleepycat · 14/09/2019 12:01

BR540, I have the smallest size bottle of Chloé Narcisse and it will last for the rest of my life as it is incredibly strong! That was another one I discovered by asking a lady what they were wearing. It has a very realistic note of daffodils. Synthetics, of course, but who cares when it’s so beautiful. Has anyone seen Sarah McCartney’s YouTube video where she praises Paul Smith Roses? She thinks it is one of the most realistic rose perfumes and yet it’s all synthetics. I would do a link but my Facebook is not cooperating. The link is in 4160Tuesday’s Facebook page.

I’m wearing Faberge Tigress. This is a vintage, 70s/80s I think. It’s in very good condition, a spicy coca-cola amber and sandalwood. It also has a bright note which reminds me very much of the daffodil in Chloé Narcisse.

Teta, I do like the Sira, including the banana, but I think it’s an acquired taste. I have the shower gel as well!

Maud, it’s the perfume-making experience that’s enjoyable. A useable perfume at the end of it is a bonus! Have a lovely day!

Hoooo · 14/09/2019 12:26

I agree with SMc re: paul smith roses.

It's the only rose perfume I've ever been able to wear...

MrsMoggs · 14/09/2019 13:50

Teta- congratulations on your launch.

Maud - have a wonderful time. Are you doing it with 4160Ts or somewhere else?

Giving vintage Sortilege a whirl today. It's in one of those old turbo charged atomisers, so I'm drenched. The first 5 minutes are dominated by pretty uncompromising aldehydes (by today's standards). But beyond this point it becomes a surprisingly soft floral (peeks of lily of the valley, rose and jasmine) on a warm, gently musky base. Not what I was expecting, but quietly bewitching.

toffee1000 · 14/09/2019 15:41

The only rose perfume I have is my Chloé one. No idea how realistic it is Grin I’m not as knowledgeable as some of you, I just like nice smells GrinGrin

Hoooo · 14/09/2019 17:04

I'mnow wearing avon lbd

Lovely floral musk

MrsMoggs · 14/09/2019 20:03

I'm on the rose bandwagon now, in La Rose (Lyn Harris for M&S). I really like this rose; it starts green but gets darker and slightly sweeter. Turns up regularly on eBay.

MotherOfDragonite · 14/09/2019 20:55

I am REALLY getting into these relatively cheap perfumes imported from the UAE and Dubai.

SOTD yesterday was Al Haramain Million. Sweet and vanilllic; strangely, a nice budget replacement for my beloved Monyette Paris as there are cross-cultural echoes of a kind of teenage sweetness...

SOTD today is a little spritz of Lattafa Oud Mood. A grown up scent. I don't get much oud from it and in fact the notes are slightly alien to me, I can tell it isn't for a Western audience although it is extremely wearable.

(I'm procrastinating with my perfume buying ban on the basis that I don't start seeing the psychotherapist properly until October.... )

Hoooo · 14/09/2019 20:57

Well, I'm also on a ban.

Strangely, I tend to buy more when on a ban 🙄🤣

MrsMoggs · 14/09/2019 21:23

Hooo on a ban? Will be listening out for BTs Grin.

CountFosco · 14/09/2019 21:30

SotD MG Fire

What is PMP training Count - I should be good at acronyms but am struggling with this one? Apologies if I've missed...

Programme Management Professional. I'm not really a programme manager, I am the technical leader who works alongside the PM so some parts of the training were very relevant and some were not at all. My company will pay for me to do the exam so I have to decide if it's worthwhile or not. If it wasn't for Brexit I'd definitely not bother. But anything that makes me more attractive as an employee might be useful if we decide we don't want to stay in the UK post Brexit (DH has an Irish passport so it's easy for him to move).

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/09/2019 21:31

Continuing my Rose jag in Heeley Hippie Rose. We missed out on the return to summer here today. 🙁

I would've been a bit more excited had it been a 4160T day, MrsM Grin

Anyway I came away with my very own Pink Minger. Hey ho.

To balance things out, I've spent the evening scouring ebay for vintage finds. I am currently watching a whopping great bottle of Dior Dior, some Fendi Theorema, a mini of vintage Mitsouko, some Ivoire de Balmain, some vintage Jicky, some Rochas Femme, some Givenchy III...none of which I am allowing myself to actually bid on.

BR540 · 14/09/2019 21:55

@Calmasasleepycat

I have an ancient bottle of Tigress, too! You’ve inspired me to get it out some time soon.

@MotherOfDragonite

I’m really into Arabian oils and perfumes. I’m not a lover of oud, so I have to tread carefully, but there are some amazingly high quality powdery Arabian perfumes from and as that’s one of my favourite styles I have great affection for that strand of fragrance.

SOTD was actually Al Haramain Junoon, which is like Villoresi Teint de Neige / Montale Powder Flowers on steroids Grin. Love, love, love. Although at lunch today my friend said ‘you snell amazing....like baby powder’. So possibly could’ve just doused myself in Johnson’s for a fraction of the price....

Hoooo · 15/09/2019 08:59

My sister has had 3 of the HN box samples.

I'm keeping a few so there is Eau de Hadrien and Femininite du bois going spare if anyone wants them?

No idea what sotd will be. I'm determined it won't be pp by the fireplace again:) I could quite happily wear this every day for the rest of my life

Do any of you have the M korrs sexy amber or midnight?

What are they like?

Not that I'm buying, you understand.
Nope.

MrsMoggs · 15/09/2019 09:12

Morning All. Anyone fancy a theme today? After our sort of rose day yesterday? Could be a note, could be a nose, could be a style? Any suggestions?

I'll swap the FdB Hoo if there's anything I have you'd like in exchange - PM if interested.

Those sound very interesting Mother - where do you buy them from?

Thanks for explaining Count!

But it's your Pink Minger, Maud! How did they structure the session - sounds like you might not have had the greatest choice? That's a great watch list - love Theorema, but hard to find at an affordable price.

teta · 15/09/2019 09:34

I would be happy to carry on with the Rose theme?
As this is the time of year when I start wearing musky roses. Montale Roses Musk, Crystal Flowers and Tobacco Rose are all beautiful in Autumn. The powdery Roses like Lipstick Rose and Drole de rose come into their own as the weather becomes cooler. As do La Fille De Berlin and Une Rose.

Calmasasleepycat · 15/09/2019 09:41

Very happy to join in a themed sniffing day, MrsMoggs, but i’ve already put on “Be Careful What You Wish For” (4160Tuesdays). This is a fruity Oud, so the theme could be one of those? Or I could join in later today with something else.

Calmasasleepycat · 15/09/2019 09:42

Cross-posted with Teta! Yes, rose would be good and much more appropriate for the weather 🌞

BR540 · 15/09/2019 10:10

I’m off to watch DD’s football match wearing Al Rehab Soft (lemony caramel vanilla, super gourmand!). But I’m always up for a perfume change, so up for a theme later today.

BR540 · 15/09/2019 10:12

@teta

Roses Musk and Crystal Flowers

I love Montale, shitty tinny hideous bottles aside Grin.

Hoooo · 15/09/2019 10:13

Ah.
I've already put on estee lauder modern muse nuit.
I don't think I have any rose perfumes...?
MG fire maybe?
Hmmm.
I shall investigate

Lotsofpots · 15/09/2019 12:11

I've inadvertently gone with the rose theme - I wore Phaedon Rouge Avignon last night (NIGHT OUT!) and haven't showered because I'm a dirty slattern, so turns out it is SOTD too.

Powdery and spicy rose, with a sweet but smokey dry down. I love it hard.

Hoooo · 15/09/2019 13:14

Sounds lovely pots
