Ohhh shame I missed the theme this morning; I'll pop on something rose-y this evening instead.

Rouge Avignon is fab pots - and glad you had a good night!

I absolutely love a rose scent - from the linear freshness of Paul Smith Rose to the sweet, dusty complexity of a Tauer, a spicy, sharp, sour rose like Clinique Beyond Rose or a clear, green, almost metallic rose like La Fille de Berlin. A Lab on Fire's Rose Rebelle Respawn is a brilliant cacao rose which should get more love imo.

I never get much rose in MG Fire, much as I love it.

But SOTD has been something completely different - WIDOMH. Which may not be a sophisticated perfume, exactly, but must surely be the most cheerful scent ever blended Grin

Bodyonme · 15/09/2019 18:13

I was away last night so only took one sample with me which was MMM Lazy Sunday Morning so I'm not themed I'm afraid, although I do love a good rose. It's a shame that not all of them like me, however!

Speaking of MMM, I tried Jazz Club the other night from the sampler I've had since Feb - how have I ignored this for so long?! It's boozy, vanilla rum sweetness, with a hint of tobacco and aftershave and I imagine is very close to how a jazz club would/should smell! It's delicious!

What did you like from the HN box hooo? I might be interested in an Eau d'Hadrien swap...

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 15/09/2019 18:27

So much for the buying ban...

Have just ordered decants of Diorling, Diorissimo, TF Tobacco Vanille and Mitsouko off ebay. But I neeeeed top-ups of the latter 3 and I neeeeeed to try to first one. So that's ok then.

SOTE is Rose Rebelle Respawn Grin. This is what I hoped Silk, Lace and Chocolate would be, and wasn't. It is very foody in the top notes, with mint and cocoa, so definitely not one for the gourmand-haters but the heart of rose, geranium and incense is altogether more interesting.

If SL&C was stale Quality Street, this is expensive, dark-chocolate rose creams of the highest quality.

MrsMoggs · 15/09/2019 18:32

Little bottle of vintage Femme ending soon...

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 15/09/2019 18:44

Stop it MrsM Grin

Calmasasleepycat · 15/09/2019 19:04

I already had that on my watch list, MrsMoggs, but just out of interest. It’s a bargain at the current price of ~£12 but I bet it sells for a lot more!

I wore Rose Privee (L’Artisan Parfumeur) this afternoon. This is a fresh, green rose with some interesting undertones. I’m not sure if it is a like or a love. I need to try it again. This evening I dug into a box of Atelier samples and came out with Rose Anonyme. This is a rose and patchouli and I’m very much enjoying it.

Maud, Silk, Lace & Chocolate is not stale Quality Street. 😱. It is most definitely expensive chocolate strawberry creams from a silk-lined box! Rose Rebelle Respawn sounds lovely, though.

MrsMoggs · 15/09/2019 19:16

Went for £12.74 - hope to one of you lovely Perfumistas Smile. Stock up while it's still possible to pick up masterpieces very cheaply.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 15/09/2019 19:33

Grin calm, funny how we all smell things differently. I just don't generally get on well with Sarah's sweeter creations and SL&C is pretty much unwearable to me.

The mahoosive (216ml) bottle of vintage Dior-Dior just went for £34, but for some bizarre reason I thought making dinner was more important than bidding on it

Hoooo · 15/09/2019 20:15

I don't mind sending it on body

I'd like it to go to someone who loves it :)

MrsMoggs · 15/09/2019 20:24

My sample drawer produced Le Dame en Rose (Pierre Bourdon) - a violet rose. Wearing it with Une Rose Chypree on the other wrist. I thought I would love this, but it is a borderline sour, herbaceous and savoury on my skin. The huge bay note swamps the rose. Sorry, I now that's sacrilege.

Hoooo · 15/09/2019 20:38

New andy tauer perfume!!!!

L Air du Alpes Suisses

teta · 15/09/2019 20:43

@BR540 yes, I really dislike the Montale bottles too. I have the little bottles and the nozzle plus clips fly off so easily. However I find the perfumes including Jasmine Full very sensual and seductive and unlike anything else I have in my 'wardrobe' .
Wearing Rosine Rose d 'Ete - a yellow Rose with Mimosa, Apple, Linden Blossom and Galbanum. A light fresh sunny vision of a Rose and impossible to dislike. Even ds1 didn't complain of the smell going back to school tonight. He normally says my perfume gives him a headache.

MrsMoggs · 15/09/2019 21:06

That sounds interesting Hooo - I love a fir note Smile. Has he stopped doing samples to GB now?

Got into the violet rose vibe and move onto Tart's Knicker Drawer. Really sad I didn't get a FB whilst SotW was still running.

MrsMoggs · 15/09/2019 21:07

*moved

MotherOfDragonite · 15/09/2019 22:23

MrsMoggs, I bought the Al Haramain Million for £5 from Amazon! It was such a great buy.

SOTD was Ffern summer 19. I have subscribed (aka "joined the Ffern ledger", apparently). It doesn't last very long on me but I do really like it and I'm not averse to reapplying.

I'd love to try the new Tauer. Thanks for mentioning it, hooo! Maybe worth a trip to Les Senteurs when they get it in...

Which is the online shop where you can get Amouage samples, btw?

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 15/09/2019 23:06

SOTD Chanel 19 Poudre. Off theme. I had the Tauer email too, I might order a sample, or do I remember some sort of change in terms of shipping?

body I need to try Jazz Club. I find those samples really fiddly to get out of the wardrobe-box, so have used far fewer of them that I should have! I am in Edinburgh for work next week so might take some with me then. I wish they were sprays.

teta · 15/09/2019 23:22

I've also joined the Ffern ledger @MotherOfDragonite.
I'm really intrigued to see how the Autumn one will smell. The notes sound so interesting and autumnal.. Francois Robert ,- the Nose for Ffern, also was the Friedemodin Nose and the same for many of the Rosine perfumes. The Ffern summer was a like, not an immmediate love. But then I realised it was sort of addictive and I couldn't stop wearing it 🙂.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 16/09/2019 06:50

I also got the Tauer email so a trip to Les Senteurs is definitely in order. Perhaps we could make it a perfumista day out, with tea and cake at Peggy Porschen afterwards Grin

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 16/09/2019 06:54

Oh, posted too soon - haven't had coffee yet.

SOTD is Chanel Jersey. Liking this more each time I sniff it; it's very understated but so chic and elegant. Perfect for me then hehehehe. I rather like the idea of being the kind of woman who wafts around in a cloud of this, though. Shame FBs are prohibitively expensive...

Hoooo · 16/09/2019 07:09

I'm going to wear a tauer today.

Prob LADDM.

It's grey and cold and wet here.

Coffee needed!

Btw have any of you got 4160 over the chocolate shop? What's it like?

teta · 16/09/2019 07:56

Wearing Aedes de venustas today. To me its the very definition of Autumn, with sharp Rhubarb, hazelnut and incense. It's got all the rhubarb that Heeley's Verveine has lost !
No, I haven't @Hoooo.
No coffee yet either.

Hoooo · 16/09/2019 07:56

Sounds very interesting teta!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 16/09/2019 08:25

Oh I LOVE Aedes de Venustas. It really is the best rhubarb. I went into the shop in New York last year; it's lovely but slightly intimidating Grin Samples are hard to come by - there's a shop called Shy Mimosa in ?Bristol which stocks them but its online platform is useless so I've never managed to actually order anything from them.

teta · 16/09/2019 10:45

@MaudBaileysGreenTurban I order 10ml bottles from Gerald's decants on Crystal Flacon. Yes, with regards to Bristol isn't this shop closed on funny days? Dd1 is at Bristol Uni. and whenever I drop her off it's always closed.

Hoooo · 16/09/2019 11:29

I've got the samples ready, just pm me your addresses body and mrsm

Enjoying wearing LADDM today.
