SOTM is Silk, lace & chocolate - which is inoffensive but old-lady-like. It made me think of my maths teacher from 1985. She was a sweet lady, but probably not an image I'm trying to recreate! I think it will fade in an hour or 2.

teta · 09/11/2019 13:00

The base of Bruma definitely smells of waxy candles to me. But you're right the silage is low and the basenotes just whisper gently of wax and sweet Tonka bean.
II. Reminds me of a cross of bell peppers with freshly snapped pea pods in the opening and now I can smell Christmas trees - that would be the pine and juniper. It's still tangy and bitter green with a characteristicly natural smelling Lyn Harris trademark.

MrsMoggs · 09/11/2019 13:01

Maud - they turned up on the TKMaxx website for sub-£40. Not sure if they'll turn up in store too? Navy box. Online they were misclassified as candles.

KaliforniaDreamz · 09/11/2019 19:15

I am looking for a nice teen after shave to give to my DS for xmas.
I sampled so many today in a dept store and now i am in the=at familiar frustrating fug of not knowing what the hell it is on my wrist that i love so much

Hoooo · 09/11/2019 19:21

Really like eau sauvage

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/11/2019 19:25

SOTD MMM Fireplace for a cosy evening with Strictly, macaroni cheese, sticky toffee pudding, and some wine later. Annoyingly there are STILL fucking fireworks going off so the poor cat is in a tizz again.

Hoooo · 09/11/2019 19:29

KaliforniaDreamz · 09/11/2019 19:44

fireworks here too
grow up ffs

lol

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 09/11/2019 22:46

My ds (16) wears Eau Sauvage (amongst others).

We have fireworks here too, but my cats are too dim to be scared Hmm

I've switched to L'air de rien this evening.

MrsMoggs · 10/11/2019 07:55

Kali - does it need to be actual aftershave, or could it be an EDT/EDP?

teta · 10/11/2019 10:09

I'm not sure @KaliforniaDreamz as none of my lot wear any.
Sotd is the gorgeous vintage Apercu. I've received this tiny 8ml sealed boxed perfume bottle off eBay and it's stunning. Looks a little cloudy but still smells perfect. It's so smooth, mellow, understated and oakmossy! It dates from 2000 but smells much more vintage and must have real Oakmoss in it. I've also just bought another mini vintage Houbigant dating from the 70's which is meant to smell similar to Apercu.

Hoooo · 10/11/2019 10:18

Ds is very atopic so wears lush body spary.
Its not cheap at £20 but lasts ages.

KaliforniaDreamz · 10/11/2019 11:36

Mrs No i don't mind what it is just thought might make a nice xmas gift if a brand one iycwim
(Also - i am in love with Yatagan. i need to get some. Thank you for sending me the sample x )

He currently wears David Beckham Respect Body spray which is about a fiver.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 10/11/2019 16:08

I've had a good day.

The antiques fair was a bit of a treasure trove today and I picked up some absolute crackers! A full bottle of Mme Rochas dating from (I think) the 70s, a tiny bottle of Le Galion Sortilege which I think cannot be any later than 80s and could well be older, and a beautiful boxed miniature of Bourjois Glamour which has a price sticker saying 9/6 which could be 9 shillings and sixpence? Plus...the guy was also selling a boxed FB of YSL Champagne for a three-figure price and we had a good chat about how it went for silly money on eBay because it had been discontinued so quickly...and then I went to a stall in the next room and found a half-full bottle for less than a tenner.

My dad, bless him, now thinks I'm some kind of wheeler-dealer perfume guru Grin

Hoooo · 10/11/2019 17:55

Impressive haul maud!

KaliforniaDreamz · 10/11/2019 19:04

Oh Maud i love that

MrsMoggs · 10/11/2019 19:16

And indeed you are Maud - very good haul!

I have a little bottle of Sortilege, marked 'perfume spray', but I haven't been able to make up my mind. It's one of those old school turbo charged sprays and delivers a huge opening dose of aldehydes.

Back in Olim and Bruma from the Trudon box - I do really like these. Smile

MrsMoggs · 10/11/2019 20:24

Kali - DS says Only the Brave!

Hoooo · 10/11/2019 20:28

Sotd has been AT LADDM

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/11/2019 21:36

SOTD Liz Earle 15. I should wear this more.

l've given up on perfume. My favourite which l wore for years (Miracle So Magic by Lancôme) has been discontinued.
l've tried literally dozens since my last bottle ran out and l can't find one that l like for more than five minutes.
Also complicated by the fact that now l only use cruelty free products. l fear l'm destined to be fragrance free from now on. :(

Hoooo · 10/11/2019 21:43

kat
Noooooooo....don't give up!
Havd you tried a dupe of your fave? Can you still get it on e bay?

MotherOfDragonite · 10/11/2019 22:32

I'm so sorry to have missed the Les Senteurs sniffathon. We've been ill again :-( I also totally lost track of the day and realised afterwards that I had missed it! Hope you all had fun.

SOTD is Drive Them Wild. I remember testing all the 4160 Tuesdays scents when I first got into perfume and really really not loving it. I thought they all smelled of food (ok, they kind of do). Anyway, now I am the biggest 4160 Tuesdays fan and I wear their stuff all the time, I think Sarah is insanely clever and funny in her perfume concocting and I wear it just to please myself rather than anyone else. So yeah. Drive Them Wild is lusciously orange blossomy and oakmossy and vintage. And yes, slightly edible...

KaliforniaDreamz · 11/11/2019 10:18

kat www.perfume-parlour.co.uk/mirakle-for-women

when this comes back in stock try it

Mrs thank you to your DS!

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 11/11/2019 17:54

Today I was given some vintage (boxed) Miss Dior originale EDT.

I think I am in love. It has such a complex, beautiful smell and reminds me of the 1970s but less oak mossy than the stuff doing the rounds then.

Another good find lately is 'My Fifth Avenue' by Elizabeth Arden. So much nicer than the original which gives me a headache.
