I think you'd probably like it Hoooo - there is a Knowing-ish vibe to it imo. Knowing is more obviously floral and fruitier up top (as it were Grin) but the heart and base share a lot of similar notes.

MrsMoggs · 21/09/2019 15:56

Also contains a lot of lipstick Maud! You've inspired me, so SotD #1 is Givenchy III vintage parfum. SotD #2 is vintage Cabochard, both have a lovely smoky earth quality.

Don't worry Hooo - hope you feel better soon.

midcenturylegs · 21/09/2019 16:14

Hey all! I hadn't realised this thread existed! Just place-marking for now
(Lover of Perles de la Lalique, most things Serge Lutens and Jonathan Midgley)!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 21/09/2019 16:48

I think the Diorling has a Cabochard quality - leathery chypre I guess. But it's softer and less up-front than Cabochard. I resprayed earlier; I do like it but wish it had a wee bit more projection.

Welcome midcenturylegs - looking forward to hearing about your faves. I'm a big fan of Serge Lutens.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/09/2019 17:16

SOTD MMM Flower Market. Very pleasant. I nipped into MAC for mascara while I was out earlier and it is Velvet Teddy that smells very like TF TV.

We live in a “double upper” - do these exist elsewhere? Basically it’s a granite house, which has a property upstairs, and one downstairs, but both are totally separate with their own front and back doors, and their own gardens. So we don’t have an upstairs to ban madam from. She usually sleeps in the living room, then comes into our bed about 6.30. DP got up with her today.

Is anyone watching Strictly? DP is out at a gig tonight, so I am going to have a bath, eat M&S food in my pyjamas, and watch all the telly he hates.

legs welcome!

Serge lutens ambre sultan is beautiful!

Hoooo · 21/09/2019 17:44

I am staying in bed as I am lurgy-fied

Lotsofpots · 21/09/2019 22:16

We hosted a 4th birthday party today. I'm shattered and have eaten a lot if sugar (I had icing for breakfast).
Struggling to remember Sotd. Think it was l'ombre dans l'eau but a deep bath means no lingering scent to remind me.

Hi legs. Welcome to the loveliest thread!

Lotsofpots · 21/09/2019 22:18

MrsM I've screenshotted your uplifting scents as that sounds like such a lovely thoughtful box. Will steal that idea in the future.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 22/09/2019 09:58

Morning all! SOTD is Diorissimo. Swoon.

I've ordered a small decant of Le Feu d'Issey from ebay - quite excited about that one arriving!

MrsMoggs · 22/09/2019 10:06

Pots - was bit of a random collection. Interesting that different people look to different things for mood uplift. Zingy high energy Vs cosy/comforting Vs a cooler sort of arcadian calm?

MrsMoggs · 22/09/2019 10:09

Maud envious of your Le Feu. Of all the things I used to regularly spray in department stores but never bought, this is my huge regret. Bottle was fab too.

Hoooo · 22/09/2019 10:44

mrsm
I'm now on crutches and back to clinic tomorrow so I prob won't get to the post office :(
I'll get dh to sort at it some point.
Sotd pp by the fireplace

MrsMoggs · 22/09/2019 12:34

Hooo - sorry to hear that and please don't worry. There is no rush whatsoever.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 22/09/2019 13:40

Hoooo Flowers and hopes for a quick recovery, that sounds rough!

MrsM - I couldn't resist. I think the seller has more available though, if you could be tempted...?

SOTAfternoon is Amour Nocturne, as it's turned grey, drizzly and chilly here and the lovely Diorissimo wasn't quite cutting it, comfort-wise. Caramel and smoke, another Duchaufour miracle.

DP and ds are out at the football this afternoon, so I'm on the sofa with chocolate, MN and 80s pop videos on the telly. All those pretty, pouting boys with their long hair and lippy...bliss for this GC perfumista Grin

MotherOfDragonite · 22/09/2019 15:43

SOTD was some Tauerville samples... Vanilla Flash on one arm (lush and smells just like the TF tobacco vanilla one, only nicer!) and Patch Flash on the other (nice but made me feel a bit sick, I don't have much tolerance for sweet patchouli scents).

Think Vanilla Flash is actually on the buy list...

MrsMoggs · 22/09/2019 15:55

Maud - hope you can cope with the olfactory stalking (with time lag) am in Diorissimo and Diorling. I like Diorling the best - crazy good sweet, soft leather.

I have a fantasy of stumbling across a bottle Le Feu at a carboot or flea market. The milkiness makes me think of Amour Nocturne. You'll have to report on them both side by side!

Hoooo · 22/09/2019 17:02

Saab (scent after a bath)
Avon soft musk delice

FloofyCatDoesTerriblyBadThings · 22/09/2019 17:16

LOVE the Emergency Scents in Handbag situation, I bet lots of us have emergency lipsticks all over cars and handbags and coats too Wink

The eBay hauls sound amazing. Lovely when you when you get fabulous surprises that are very sniffable!

Welcome midcenturylegs!

I have just looked at Eden and they look really good, but hard to work out what's what (or is it just me?) I might me missing something but wouldn't most modern perfumes be suitable for vegans these days anyway though?

Hooo crutches? Oh no! Have they said how long for? I hope you are being brought lots of cups of tea and treats!

SOTD is Philosophy Ballet Rose, which has promised me the quiet strength to move to my own rhythm, apparently. Meh. Inoffensive. I prefer the Paul Smith Rose. Although my rhythm today is lying under blankets, sewing and listening to Absolute 80s on the radio Grin (btw maud I know! Don't get me started on the GC and pouty boys rantWink)

And on that note Grin judy I don't like Strictly, but DH loves it. He never misses it!

Pinkjellyfish · 22/09/2019 21:06

Interesting about the Velvet Teddy perfume Judy. As much as I love Mac lipstick, the perfumes based on them haven’t appealed to me much till now.

I’ve been trying Floral Street Electric Rhubarb. It’s not bad but quite generic compared to their other perfumes!

BR540 · 22/09/2019 21:14

Sorry to hear about the crutches @Hoooo. Hope you’re not in too much pain!

SOTE is Al Haramain Amira Gold. Incense, orange, oud. Not my usual thing, but I’ve had it languishing in the back of the cupboard for ages and thought I’d give it a spin. Good stuff, although I’m still a bit scared of Oud.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 22/09/2019 21:28

SOTD Jazz Club again, I am going to have to buy a full bottle of this, aren’t I?

midcenturylegs · 22/09/2019 22:15

@Hoooo and many others - thank you so much for the welcome!

Ambre Sultan is my absolute favourite! It used to be Feminite De Bois when he contocted it for Shesido, but it's not as great now he's making it in his own perfumerie.

Super glad to have found you lot x

Hoooo · 23/09/2019 08:06

I need a sotd for my hospital visit 😬

midcenturylegs · 23/09/2019 08:46

@Hoooo newbie here obvs but sorry to hear you've been injured.

My SOTD is Jo Malone's English Pear and Freesia. Not my cup of tea as I don't generally like patchouli based scents. I may have bought myself "won in a work raffle" the Jo Malone advert calendar last Xmas though so have a lot of scents to try..
