SOTD Jazz Club again.

OP posts:
MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 18/09/2019 21:07

SOTD is AG Heure Exquise. I am really loving all these powdery, iris-and-galbanum vintage-style scents at the moment. Terribly grown-up but comforting at the same time.

So...are we on the verge of a perfumista meet-up??

MrsMoggs · 18/09/2019 21:24

I'm in!

Bad luck Hooo. Flowers

MrsMoggs · 18/09/2019 21:32

I guess vintage is a very flexible term Clucky. How does it smell?

Calmasasleepycat · 18/09/2019 22:23

Perfume sniffing followed by cake. 🍰. What could be nicer?! So that’s Maud, Mother, teta and MrsMoggs all coming. Also my sister would like to come. She doesn’t post but is a supportive lurker and likes perfume and cake. November is fairly free for me, this far ahead, but how about Friday 8th November as a first suggestion? Perhaps you could message me to confirm or give me preferred dates if the 8th is not good for you?

My SOTD was Zoologist Beaver. This smells like clean, wet musky fur. I love how the Zoologist perfumes paint mind pictures.

Calmasasleepycat · 18/09/2019 22:33

Hello clucky3 and welcome! There is often useful information in the perfume forums, such as on Fragrantica.com or basenotes.net. In the latter there is a thread which gives photo descriptions of the various Chanel No 19 bottles and their ages. You will find it if you go into basenotes (you might have to register first) and search for “Help with dating a Chanel No 19”. Of course, even if you have a genuine bottle, it’s possible that someone has filled it with fake perfume or that the perfume has “turned”.😨

Hoooo · 18/09/2019 23:27

I find basenotes infuriating....maybe it's just me! :)

Ds2 feeling poorly, dh badly jet lagged and my ankle/leg bloody hurts.

Ho hum.

teta · 19/09/2019 09:49

Theo fennells Scent is on Tk Maxx in both Edp and EDT for £7.99.
I've just ordered both, even though it's a totally blind buy

teta · 19/09/2019 09:53

Hoooo sorry to hear about your Achilles. Will it repair itself or do you need surgery?
Sotd is again Mito. @MotherOfDragonite I've just discovered Mitos perfumer died last December and the company she founded has sadly disappeared. How come all the pink Minger's multiply like rabbits but the genuinely good perfumes seem to die a death.

imclaustrophobicdarren · 19/09/2019 09:55

@teta I've seen that, and also my necklace at a fraction of the cost Sad

Hoooo · 19/09/2019 10:27

Its hanging on by a thread apparently...

MotherOfDragonite · 19/09/2019 10:30

Thank you for the heads up, teta -- that's bargainous and I've ordered too! Can't really go wrong at that price as I'm sure I could resell if it doesn't suit me. It sounds very appealing though!

SOTD is Lattafa Oud Mood again. I did finally catch a whiff of oud in it. I'm getting so boring.

Calm, Maud, teta, MrsMoggs -- I'm afraid I'm a bit constrained by childcare issues and both Mondays and Fridays are terrible for me. I could do other weekdays or a weekend. But no worries if this doesn't work for others, I know it's a pain...

I'm seriously considering saving up for some of the horribly-named Blousy. Hopefully nobody will buy it because it has such a terrible name and description, and it will go on sale and I can buy a big bottle! Also tried my sample of Brighton Rock but it was candyfloss-sweet and not for me.

teta · 19/09/2019 10:39

@Mother me too. I'm not constrained by childcare issues but Friday is a complicated day for me. I'm also constrained as i would be coming by train from the Midlands.

Hoooo · 19/09/2019 11:30

I've ordered it too as my sample from a kind percumista is now gone
Baaaa 🐑

Calmasasleepycat · 19/09/2019 12:19

I’m sure we can work out a date suitable for all. How about Thurs 7th Nov or, if not suitable, Tues 12th, Wed 13th, Thurs 14th in the following week? When we’ve sorted a date I will contact Les Senteurs to let them know a group of us will be coming, just in case they have another event booked.

My SOTD is vintage (1985) O de Lancome. This is glorious. It’s in perfect condition and just as I remember it from years ago. 💕 It makes up somewhat for a couple of vintages which I’ve bought and are not really wearable.

cantbelievemyeyes · 19/09/2019 12:59

I'd be very interested in a meet up too, don't think I have any constraints with dates.

SOTD is fairly inappropriate for the season, Diptyque Geranium Odorata. Left in a rush this morning and that's all I have at work.

Hoooo · 19/09/2019 17:01

Avon lbd for a secondary open evening for ds2.

BR540 · 19/09/2019 18:24

Ooh a meet up! Keep me posted on dates. I’m in London, so work and childcare aside, I could potentially join you all for some sniffing & scoffing Grin.

SOTD was D&G Light Blue Sun, which is basically Light Blue with a bit of coconut and tiare thrown in. Pleasant enough. I was trying to recreate that happy summery feeling as the sun was out this morning, but l’ve ended a very busy day feeling shattered and in need of autumnal cosiness.

Just made pancakes and am wearing Al Rehab Choco Musk oil, which is pretty much linear melted milk chocolate. I wouldn’t wear this anywhere but in my sofa.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 19/09/2019 18:47

Has the EDP of Scent sold out? I can only see EDT now.

I'm buying it anyway.

I'm fairly flexibl-ish with meet up dates although tbh a weekend would suit better as it would mean booking a day off work otherwise. But happy to go with the majority verdict and work around it!

Bodyonme · 19/09/2019 20:18

The day out sounds amazing!! I would so love to come but I don't think I can this time. I hope there are photos for me to live vicariously though! And can someone ask Les Senteurs to open a Manchester branch? Grin

Met a former colleague today who smelt amazing and she told me it was an &other stories perfume so I'm off to find that and then to TK Maxx.

Sotd was Robert Graham Valour which is ok but largely non-existant on me.

Hoooo · 19/09/2019 20:22

Sadly too far away for me too :(
Have a fabulous time xx

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 19/09/2019 20:25

SOTD Miss Dior Proper.

V envious of the meet-up!

OP posts:
MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 19/09/2019 20:36

So there's a bottle of TF Scent (EDT) winging its way to me and it appears I may have won an unopened vintage bottle of Givenchy III on ebay...ooops. So what with that and my Diorling/Diorissimo/MItsouko package hopefully arriving soon I should be in Classics Heaven Grin

SOTD was Felanilla. It was a long day in the office so by the end it had disappeared and I spritzed the remains of my office decant of L'air de rien. However I went a bit OTT I think and, much as I love it usually, it just feels tooooo much this evening. I want a bath and bed but I have to go and collect ds from football practice at 9pm. Oh, the humanity!

Lotsofpots · 19/09/2019 21:22

Another who would be up for a meet up. Happy to take some annual leave, and based in London so pretty flexible.

SOTD was Commodity Book, but I layered on some l'ombre dans l'eau - I lost my bottle about a month ago when it fell out of my bag but dropped the biggest at nursery today and noticed a small roll on standing on a shelf and IT WAS MINE! A happy moment.

Hoooo · 20/09/2019 13:24

Sotd pp by the fireplace

It's lovely and bright here but fresh
