I was looking at tickets for BP and realised you can also visit Clarence House. Is Charles earning a bit on the side as a tour guide?

Unfortunately there are no tickets available for Clarence House till 2020.
I’m definitely going to book BP and gardens tour.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 23/08/2019 23:33

I think William probably gives up shaving in Scotland.
Kate looks lovely kevshe is carrying fishing and talking on her phone.
Very refreshing to see her looking a bit scruffy, untucked shirt and non blow dried hair.
She’ll probably do a church visit on Sunday or something with the Queen.

BigGreenOlives · 24/08/2019 06:17

I missed the drinks party, so sorry. Breakfast round at mine for anyone feeling a bit tender this morning?

I like the bright flowers & clothes for the funeral. An in-law had a funeral at which spotted handkerchiefs were worn by all blood relatives.

Kate looks good in that green.

TipseyTorvey · 24/08/2019 06:36

@BigGreenOlives, yes please. May I have a very large black filter coffee and some marmite on toast please? I am trying to muster up the energy to actually stand up and do it myself.

I don't think I'd enjoy the Balmoral bit of my summer hols if I were a royal. I mean I'd love all the fresh nature walks and rivers but it does seem all a bit formal and dry with the queen bits. They go from mustique and champagne to grouse and stilted chat poor things.

BertrandRussell · 24/08/2019 06:39

Any kedgeree going?

BigGreenOlives · 24/08/2019 06:51

Marmite on toast & black filter coffee readily available.

Kedgeree on the sideboard BertrandRussell.

Just saw a very miserable picture of the Duke & Duchess of Windsor on their wedding day on IG

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/08/2019 07:03

Full English for me, but I need a cup of Earl Grey first!

Some more photos from Balmoral. Apparently they were heading off for lunch at one of the houses on the estate.

I’ve been reading about Balmoral castle it’s really interesting. Estate bought by Prince Albert and the Castle was commissioned by him.
Imagine if Queen Victoria had married someone less dynamic and motivated. If he hadn’t died so young, there may well have been many more projects and buildings commissioned by him. He was so influential on British culture.

Thanks for the link @pinkladyapples - I’ll keep an eye on that blog.

We haven’t had any Balmoral photos really since the Diana days. Or have I missed some in the interim?

Reasontobelieve · 24/08/2019 07:17

Thank you for posting that fascinating clip of the ghillies ball - I saw that documentary at the time but had forgotten about it. Apart from the interesting piece of insight from the Queen, I couldn't help thinking how difficult it would be to marry into the royal family and lack the co-ordination for Scottish dancing!

frugalkitty · 24/08/2019 07:50

BigGreen thank you for the invite but we're in a hotel so I get a cooked breakfast this morning (that I haven't had to shop for, cook or wash up after Grin) Only one night sadly, and we have the kids with us, we're just breaking up the annual trip to the in laws in Norfolk so if anyone fancies starting on the G&T early you know where I'll be.

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/08/2019 07:55

Oh, can't believe I forgot to mention it but I am visiting Harewood House later today. Will take some photos for you lot and keep an eye out for any random
Lascelles!

How on earth does the Queen dance in a tiara??
How are the paps getting those photos? I thought it was impossible to get into Balmoral! There are high walls too.

MrsGrindah · 24/08/2019 08:00

Harewood House! That’s near me? If you see me Queen please don’t report back on this thread about what I’m wearing! Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/08/2019 08:03

@MrsGrindah We are visiting family in Leeds so heading to Harewood for the day. We'll have 2 children with us so I'm not sure about the odds of me being able to wander around the house at leisure. I suspect we'll spend most of our time in the gardens!

MrsGrindah · 24/08/2019 08:10

Well the weather here is gorgeous today so I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

Clankboing · 24/08/2019 08:23

I've just seen the royals at Balmoral documentary on you tube (can't link on phone sorry- it was in 4 parts posted by My Digital Realm). Somebody pointed out that it is often said that the royals are descended from Germany, but pointed out that the Queen is half Scottish, referring to the Queen Mother. The Queen Mother was a natural when she first went to Balmoral but not everyone within the royal family will feel at home there. Apparently Diana found it boring but I can imagine that she loved the dancing. I have only taken part in a ceilidh two or three times so I really need the dance caller to know what to do. They are fun though and very tiring!

Great to see Kate with non blow dried hair. She has lovely thick hair. Unlike William who was sooo handsome. I think he is sporting a beard, QueenoftheAndals
Kate really is slim- even under a baggyish jumper.
I wish I had the willpower. Sad
AppleKatie "...It looks like William is about to say F*ck off..." Smile

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 24/08/2019 10:50

The Queen looks very stooped in that picture, we don't often see her side on so haven't noticed before. Still bloody amazing for her years. She looks younger than I feel this morning...

I don't suppose there's any Birscher muesli on that sideboard?

Horsemad · 24/08/2019 12:13

Nice to see W&K 'off duty' and looking casual.

Clankboing · 24/08/2019 13:04

Yes she does look stooped doesn't she, bless her. Both her and Prince Philip look very normal and grandparent ish in that photo - which, of course, they are. Ordinary people in an extraordinary position.

justasking111 · 24/08/2019 13:14

I saw the stoop and thought how vulnerable she is in her ninth decade and some of her family are selfish buggers for throwing more doo doo at the royal family with their self indulgent habits and lack of a sense of duty. They really are spoilt brats and as Charles wants should be pared down.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 24/08/2019 13:24

They really are spoilt brats and as Charles wants should be pared down.

Trouble is, you can't guarantee he'll only keep the good ones...

thisenglishlife · 24/08/2019 13:32

And who are the bad ones??

Charles is very spoilt himself (although he has done several good things).

You're right about Prince Albert CurlyWurlyTwirly - I've just visited one of his projects, Osborne House, definitely worth going to!
