I can't believe I'm about to say this, not least because she's my idol, but I think Max's dress at the funeral was a step too far. I didn't think that was possible!

The one and last time DH attended a ceilidh wedding he stepped on the back of the bride's dress. It was the time of the Jane Austin empire waist dresses with whispy chiffon trains. DH weighs in at 15 stone. The train didn't stand a chance.

When I was a student in Scotland many years ago, my first experience with the NHS was the result of participating in a particularly energetic reel. They really should post warnings for the uninitiated.

Has anyone seen the Queen Victoria exhibition at BP?
I’m just booking some tickets to visit the State rooms and the gardens in September.

A propos of nothing in particular, I'm noticing that all the younger royals have long hair these days. Except Zara, thinking about it. I always think of long hair as a younger look, so I'm interested to see where they go from here.

Diana looked fab with short hair, the shorter the style the more chic she looked.

I think that’s true generally of women in their 30s not many short haired ones to be seen out and about either!

The funeral photos will have been taken with huge telephoto lenses, a bit like the Kate Balmoral one (unless that was a drone).
There are "other" houses at Balmoral - and the "young" Royals back in the day used to spend a lot of time driving across the mountains (private roads) to party in one. That was in the Diana days, I expect nowadays they have somewhere with good internet to go to when they need to get away from the older generation.
