I see Mette Marit's dress in that family confirmation portrait is in the same style family as Ellie Goulding's wedding dress.

Love both dresses.

BigGreenOlives · 03/09/2019 07:19

I like the way Daniel wearing a beige jacket and tie stands out at a playground in the video @banivani posted.

StCharlotte · 03/09/2019 07:58

I always wanted to see a picture of Daniel without the slicked back hair and glasses. And then I did. He was not the Clark Kent I was hoping for.

I always wanted to see a picture of Daniel without the slicked back hair and glasses. And then I did. He was not the Clark Kent I was hoping for. haha but it works as a disguise nonetheless I suppose!

Here's a selection of pics of CPV and P Madeleine together over the years, including the photo of them in Renaissance dresses for some party www.svenskdam.se/kungligt/11-fantastiska-bilder-pa-systrarna-victoria-och-madeleine/

That magazine also has an article about Queen Margrethe having sold her late husband's art collection now. Not to her taste, they claim. www.svenskdam.se/kungligt/hoppsan-drottning-margrethe-saljer-henriks-arv/

I am procrastinating at work (avoiding a boring task that needs to be done, don't tell my boss) and found an article about Prince Daniel's hair and I tidied up a google translation of it for you. Click through for pictures.

Prince Daniel reveals his hair-raising dream: "Want to be crazier"

When he met Victoria, he was anything but a well-dressed suit guy. What really happened? Did the court have a rally around Daniel's "wild" hairstyle? Now the prince opens up and reveals his hair secrets.

Prince Daniel, 43, has gone through a significant hairstyle journey. While he’s stretching his muscles in the gym at Östermalm in the early 2000s - and secretly taking care of his new client Crown Princess Victoria – he’s anything but a well-combed fellow. Little Daniel Westling, preferably dressed in t-shirts and camouflage pants, has enormous hair resources available. With a rarely seen density, the hair spreads out over his scalp, forming a lush hairstyle that will soon take the crown princess of Sweden by storm. The Swedish people have no idea about what a force of nature from Ockelbo they are dealing with.

Crown Princess Victoria loves Daniel's impressive lion’s mane, but when the media finds out about the hot romance, his majestic tresses becomes a problem. Daniel's fertile thatch is an exotic feature among all the thin-haired "backslick" gentlemen on Stureplan and makes him easy to recognize. Daniel realizes that a lot is hanging on his hair and takes action. He begins to mask himself by wearing a cap.

The relationship with Victoria deepens and the hair king Daniel eventually starts getting used to the idea of retraining as prince. He realizes that he may also have to re-evaluate his hairstyle - which is considered "too wild" for the royal house.

In 2003, Daniel is Victoria's date when Andrea Brodin, 39, marries. Daniel had then agreed to pay a visit to a men's hairdresser.

The transformation has begun. Daniel changes dress style and goes from camouflage glasses, t-shirt and cap to suit and shorter hairstyle. He buys a new car, moves to a larger flat in Östermalm and learns to deal with the media in a professional manner. He now also has a large collection of hair products - and two special combs - at home in the bathroom cabinet. Daniel also exchanges eyeglasses for a more high-class pair.

The relationship between Victoria and Daniel is growing and thriving. A royal engagement has taken place and Daniel is always well-combed. In the spring of 2010, celebrity hairdresser Bobby Unducu sounds the alarm. He has carefully looked at Daniel's temples and discovered that a significant amount of hairs have disappeared.
"Westling is soon a baldie," he trumps uneasily in Aftonbladet.
Daniel, then 36, risks being hit by a prominent bald patch. And this just months before the wedding with Crown Princess Victoria.

  • It continues once it has started, within a few years Daniel's hair will be really sparse. Within 5-8 years, you are usually quite bald, ”Bobby Oduncu exclaims in despair.

There are eight years between these images. Daniel and Victoria take the hair crisis calmly and still marry the same summer.

But Prince Daniel's hairstyle - and hair - persists. He is today unofficially appointed as the world's most well-regarded royal. Only once the strands have been torn away from their appointed places. This happened on July 1, 2010 at 1:03 pm.

[Magazine] has had a chat with Princess Sofia's hairdresser Marre Hitti at Salong Bangs on Strandvägen and asked what is needed to maneuver the prince's hairstyle.

  • You need both gel and spray to keep such a tight hairstyle in place. You may also need a hair dryer, Marre Hitti tells [magazine].

But does Prince Daniel enjoy his tight look? Could it be that the prince is mourning his former hairstyle days? When Prince Daniel visited the Bällsta School in Vallentuna recently to talk about equality, the school had the theme "Crazy Hair Day" on the schedule. The teacher who received Daniel had his hair styled in a cactus pot. Middle school kids wore crazy wigs and artificial pastries in their hair. Prince Daniel's hairstyle was, in the usual order, a bit more toned down.

It is now that Daniel, for the first time, speaks freely and reveals his well-preserved hair secrets.

  • I combed a little extra this morning, the prince tells Dagens Nyheter, but then adds:
“I would also like to be a little crazy,” he admits.

How crazy, we wonder. Like Donald Trump, or maybe like Daniel's childhood idol pop star Limahl, who had a 1984 hit with Never Ending Story?
Of course, a beauty like Daniel looks good in both hairstyles.
Well. We probably think that Daniel is happy with his cheeky prince do.

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/09/2019 11:04

So just from browsing GoFugYourself, I've found that royalty fan fiction exists! HCP appears to feature extensively, usually having a torrid affair with Prince William! I don't know what planet some people are on but if it makes them happy...

Thank you for keeping us going, Banivani.
I wonder if Daniel will have a mid life crisis and revert back to his wilder hair days. 😁

Spudlet · 03/09/2019 11:45

Bit of equestrian throwback style to ride us over, anyone? CPM on a beautiful bay, looking like I always imagined I might look on a horse one day (spoiler - has never happened yet, there is always a swipe of snot on my jodhs and straw in my hair). QE and Princess Margaret back in the day, looking v smart. And CPM biking in a leather pencil skirt - this I have done (my skirt was suede) so I’m basically royalty at this point Grin

DevonUkelele · 03/09/2019 12:06

FWIW, I think CPM could do with taking her stirrups up a notch, or maybe two 🤔.

But the leather skirt is smoking! And the royal kiddies are cherubic.

Also, QM and Margaret look Enid Blyton-fabulous, as always in pics from that era.

Great pics @Spudlet

banivani · 03/09/2019 12:11

I can't read the fan fiction at work (but will at home... just to check). Who'd have thunk!

I really appreciate it when people go to the effort of uploading pics! It's so easy to do on mobile, I get lazy when I'm on a computer... but it can be nice to not have to click on links. I'll do better!

I can see PD becoming leather tanned with a flowing white mane ...

Spudlet · 03/09/2019 12:17

Yes, they are a bit on the lengthy side aren’t they? I like her boots though Grin

It’s funny when you think how wee the Queen and PM are / were - they look like they’re on huge steeds but they were probably all of 15hh and change!

BlingLoving · 03/09/2019 12:19

So, on different note - have been watching Australia Masterchef. There's a guy on there - Tim - who is a dead ringer for Prince Harry. Has anyone seen it? Here's a link to some images!

DevonUkelele · 03/09/2019 12:22

Hah. And these days it's the opposite when HM rides one of those glorious Fell ponies (I think that's what they are?), and looks totally overscaled.

And never a hat, even then - very naughty! Grin

StCharlotte · 03/09/2019 12:27

Thank you banivani for that lunchtime giggle (the Daniel Hair Saga)

Spudlet · 03/09/2019 12:30

I do love those little ponies - although the thought of keeping those feathers so clean and silky is a bit exhausting. I suppose at least they aren’t white!

DevonUkelele · 03/09/2019 12:35

Easy enough when that is not one's job, I suppose Wink

Daisypie · 03/09/2019 12:39

As my DD would say the Queen is so badass without a helmet.

BertrandRussell · 03/09/2019 12:54

Actually I think it’s fucking outrageous that she rides without a helmet.

Wetdogloveshubert · 03/09/2019 13:02

Harry has launched a new travel initiative today in Amsterdam (after flying commercial yesterday) and spoken about off-setting emissions and why he normally flies commercially. DFail link for anyone interested in more pictures, and video. link

Wetdogloveshubert · 03/09/2019 13:03

Sorry, meant to add... normal suit for Harry with those boring brown shoes.

Gooseysgirl · 03/09/2019 13:15

Christ the brown shoes again... c'mon Meghan - intervention needed!!

queenofarles · 03/09/2019 13:29

In a question-and-answer session after his speech, Harry added: 'I came here by commercial. I spend 99 per cent of my life travelling the world by commercial.

So is he saying , It’s not me it’s the Mrs who has a thing for private jets?
Occasionally there needs to be an opportunity based on a unique circumstance to ensure that my family are safe. It's genuinely as simple as that
What sort of dumb answer is that? Confused
Imagine anyone with a fear of flying reading this, does it make them feel safer flying commercial?
And what about all the other parents out there should they also be flying private too to protect their families?

BertrandRussell · 03/09/2019 13:35

I have no idea whether this is what happened, but surely if their security people felt there was a credible risk it would be irresponsible for them to fly commercial- thereby potentially involving other people in their risk? I

NoTheresa · 03/09/2019 13:39

Re. the latest sermon:

When you are in a hole stop
digging.

queenofarles · 03/09/2019 13:41

If there was a risk indeed , wouldn’t in be made known to the authorities? Or is it that only their lives are important and anyone else with them on a commercial flight are worthless?
