Royal style & gossip: Breton stripes and skinny jeans...

Previous thread. I think we'll be a bit short of royal outfits as they're all off on their holidays atm. But Kate's regatta is coming up next week, hence the thread title!

Same rules as always - keep it light, critique the clothes rather than the women, and don't believe anything printed in the Daily Mail Grin

Think it's a diamond cluster centre, with rubies and diamonds on the outer edge?

I'm not keen on it.

beanaseireann · 19/08/2019 12:27

I think its a target ring.
A huge diamond surrounded by rubies.
Again it's not too clear in the photo.

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 19/08/2019 13:03

I like that’s it is different too but I don’t like the ring itself.

School starts today in Sweden and P. Estelle starts first grade - her mother took a photo for Instagram

Wow Estelle looks like she's aged 10 years!

Rhubarbisevil · 19/08/2019 13:56

Well, no wonder that relationship floundered. Cressida wears black nail varnish Shock

@CurlyWurlyTwirly it’s ma’am darling by Craig Brown. Very interesting - about Princess Margaret’s life.

PinguDance · 19/08/2019 14:11

@Doyoureallyneedtoask I’d be fascinated to know what it’s like to work for the RF - I can see why William and Harry, especially now they’re both married to non -U women and since William went to Uni etc would be pretty wtf about it all. I think the Queen must be sustaining so many royal traditions - I wonder if Charles’s will manage to keep it up.

queenofarles · 19/08/2019 14:19

Estelles dress is Bonpoint my Dd1 has the same one,

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/08/2019 19:45

Camilla at a garden party at Middlewick house, her former home with APB, now owned by punk floyd drummer Nick Mason.
I like her shirtwaister dress.
Normally she doesn’t go for a cinch, but it suits her ( very Kirsty Allsop).

The house is just stunning.

Its Mette Marit’s birthday
She is definitely one of my favourite Royal Ladies.

BertrandRussell · 19/08/2019 20:36

Well, the flight to Nice was paid for by Elton John, and it was offset.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/08/2019 20:39

I always wondered how offsetting works?

You pay money so the arctic ice that's melted from your private jet freezes over? How does it work?

Can someone explain?

Wetdogloveshubert · 19/08/2019 20:49

Offsetting is done in myriad ways. Here's one website which deals in it. link

Love today's pictures. It's really lovely to see Cressida engaged - she had a torrid time with the press onslaught.

Mette's pictures are gorgeous too; she glows.

BertrandRussell · 19/08/2019 20:50

You pay money, for example, to projects which reduce other carbon emissions. For example- providing people in the developing world with efficient cooking stoves. Which reduces emissions and allows the family to cook more cheaply, efficiently and safely.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/08/2019 20:53

So you pay to alleviate your guilty conscience?

Because no money will make the ice refreeze or the carbon disappear. But I suppose if you have money, then you can pretend it's all good.

small2018 · 19/08/2019 20:54

Cressidas new fiancé works at my workplace 😁

AdaColeman · 19/08/2019 21:04

I'm a bit sorry that Cressida didn't snap up the young Duke of Westminster!

BertrandRussell · 19/08/2019 21:06

“Because no money will make the ice refreeze or the carbon disappear. But I suppose if you have money, then you can pretend it's all good”

I don’t think abyone’s pretending. But it does mean that you can neutralise your own carbon footprint. Which has to be a good thing, surely?

FaithHowellsYellowCoat · 19/08/2019 21:11

Isn’t the Duke of Westminster with his girlfriend from his teenage years? Or am I thinking of someone else?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/08/2019 21:11

No, I don't think it is.

It makes people, rich people, think they can buy their way out of environmentally unfriendly decisions, while it actually cannot neutralise anything. The damage is done, how does money make it better?

Money is not the cure, consuming less is.

lavenderandthyme · 19/08/2019 21:12

It’s a bit like robbing Peter to pay Paul isn’t it? They should be setting an example and making some personal sacrifices. The thing they keep urging us to do. Getting their friends to lend them private jets and take the flak is just dodging the bullet.

AdaColeman · 19/08/2019 21:18

I think Hugh and Harriet have split up now Faith.

MangoFeverDream · 19/08/2019 21:18

Carbon offsets are bullshit, they don’t actually do much; here’s a great overview: www.responsibletravel.com/copy/carbon-offsets

This isn't the thread for this discussion. There are plenty of RF bashing threads elsehwere, please stick to the style and gossip.
