GotTo - I've always thought that Charles never fitted into the role of PoW. His inauguration as PoW was a cringe-fest. But his emergence as a likeable person is something I give credit to Camilla for.

I am the age where I only really became properly aware of the RF when Diana died and the Queen was old but not ‘cute nana’ old like she is now, like stern great -aunt old. Everyone bitched about her then! She can play the long game that’s her special power. There’s also a great, tho presumably somewhat edited version of a conversation Gyles Brandreth reports having with the Queen in Craig Browns boom about PM. It’s hilarious. It is necessary for her to be unremarkably dull. I have to say I prefer not to hear or witness any of the RF speaking cos they all sound like nice but dim neighbours that my aunt might invite over for a Christmas drinks party. Still I find their position fascinating and like to look at them!

I was reading an interesting article about what its like to work for the royals. Among other things such as not talking to the family, fading into the background, using the side entrance to demonstrate they are a 'lower class' to the royals (something the queen is strict about), no vacuuming before 10am, the staff if walking down a corridor, must walk as near a wall as possible so they won't wear out the carpet.

It also stated that the 'no touching' of the royals is a custom from the middle ages when it was believed that the royals were gods and must not be touched. It is ok if they offer their hand but it must be touched rather than shaken.

The sheets thing is true, though, but it’s designed to save the host and RF any embarrassment.

Just googled and I was right - she's married to the Marquess but it's the second marriage for both of them. Her eldest son took his own life so she's founded a mental health centre for men. Looks like Prince William is a patron.
