Previous thread. I think we'll be a bit short of royal outfits as they're all off on their holidays atm. But Kate's regatta is coming up next week, hence the thread title!

Same rules as always - keep it light, critique the clothes rather than the women, and don't believe anything printed in the Daily Mail Grin

Thank you for the photos of Leti and Filipe's wedding. I really like her the collar of her dress and the detail on the sleeves.
A slightly medieval feel to it.

banivani · 17/08/2019 10:06

I remember watching Leti&F geting married actually, happened to have the telly on, haha.

DH has just brought some items over from his mother’s, not very beautiful or stylish but a commemorative dish from Princess Anne’s wedding to Mark Philips, in the original packaging.

Was it Vanessa Kirby who played PM in the first few series? Coz, I thought she was smoking (as in hot, like hawt!).

I am of quite an age these days, one where throughout my history and childhood, PM was a bit of a sad old lady. The Crown's PM was Quite. The. Revelation.

Jury out (and diary booked) for new series.

@ShallICompareTheeToASummersDay

Dane here!

You can visit Amalienborg easily in Copenhagen as part of a day out in the town - it’s a very compact town centre and you can walk to it easily. I’m not sure if they will have tours of it, I don’t think it’s open to the public. But I could be wrong.

My favourite Royal palace is Fredensborg palace in Northern Shetland (about 40 min on the train). It has a lovely public gardens and a wood and you can walk right round the castle and there is a lovely walk down to the lake. There is a restaurant at the lake edge too, or a cafe at the castle gates that sells the fantastic hotdogs (definitely try those). I’d definitely recommend it as a day out. They do tours of the actual palace but I think that’s only in June and July. But it’s well worth it even without the tour - it’s a lovely palace and a real pleasure to walk there.

You could actually catch two castles very easily on the same day. Continue on the train from Fredensborg to Hillerød (not far) and you can see a castle that looks more like an actual castle - that real romantic look. It’s situated on a small lake and you can walk around the banks all the way or you can take a boat ride Round the lake, and it also has a beautiful baroque garden attached (I think you might have to pay to actually go in, but not sure on that. However you get a nice view of it anyway whilst walking around if I remember correctly.

Ugh autocorrect butchered that castle name!!

It’s Frederiksborg!

Ninkaninus · 17/08/2019 13:41

Also what ages are your children? Will you be taking them to Tivoli?

justasking111 · 17/08/2019 14:37

Am struggling through Patrick Jephsons book, cannot read much at a time a bit dry, but so informative as to how the palace machine works.

Bhutan looks like such a dreamy place.

QueenOfTheAndals · 17/08/2019 17:14

The Japanese crown prince needs to sort his hair out. Up until a few years ago he was happy for it to be salt and peppery but has discovered the Grecian 3000 since and it's not flattering!!

My son spent a week in Bhutan and said it is absolutely beautiful
Very serene and laid back
Only had tv in the last few years
Food was mainly veggie but he says it was ok, just very simple
He bought me a lovely notepad and envelopes from there, hand made and embossed with leaves, so beautiful I never want to use it
Tourists have to pay a daily premium just to be there too, not sure how much but I dint think it was cheap, plus the cost of hotel, meals and travel

latedecember1963 · 17/08/2019 18:12

Is that the Shadows of a Princess book, Justasking111? I read it last year and found it quite an insight into Diana's life. Of course it's his interpretation of events and she's not here to give her version but I was shocked by how mercurial she could be towards those around her. When I see old photos of her I'm struck by what a beautiful woman she was and I wonder what she would look like if she was still alive.

justasking111 · 17/08/2019 19:51

Yes it is. Not something I shall read in one go.

latedecember1963 · 17/08/2019 20:50

I found there was a lot of detail to take in, but after a while I got used to his writing style.

I went to Bhutan in 2003. It was wonderful. I remember thinking how amazing it was to be in a country that was so little visited, even by the rich and famous. It used to be that 6000 visitors where permitted per year. Might be more now.

Kate and William did the same trek as me - up to the Tiger's Nest monastery.

Rhubarbisevil · 17/08/2019 23:44

@Ninkaninus. What is Valdemar’s Castle like and how far is it from Copenhagen?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/08/2019 06:09

Princess Martha Louise on holiday in Turkey.
I really like her boho wardrobe; her style has definitely improved since she got with Derek.

Little glimpse of Meghan and Archie arrivingbat Nice airport.
He seems to be really growing. Like the look of that cardigan on him!

( All thé Royals seem to be taking private jets like buses this summer)
I am NOT impressed.
Prince Andrew could have flown commercial from Aberdeen when leaving Balmoral.
The Sussexes would have had plenty of commercial flights for their recent trips to Ibiza and now Nice.

I wonder what Greta Thunberg would say to them if she met any of them in RL.

GotToGoMyOwnWay · 18/08/2019 07:26

I agree Curly - it’s definitely ‘Do as I say, Not as I do!’

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 18/08/2019 07:41

They had more private jet flights than I had busses this summer.

Love Maxima's sheet dress.
