Previous thread. I think we'll be a bit short of royal outfits as they're all off on their holidays atm. But Kate's regatta is coming up next week, hence the thread title!

Same rules as always - keep it light, critique the clothes rather than the women, and don't believe anything printed in the Daily Mail Grin

Clarence House have released a picture on insta of Ann and Charles laughing. It’s a lovely picture.

RatherBeRiding · 15/08/2019 13:48

Anne was an international level equestrienne and I have no doubt still a very active horsewoman. I'm betting that figure is genuine too!

Tonnerre · 15/08/2019 14:25

Someone who used to work at Hampton Court told me that one of the old ladies who lived there would pre-warn them when "the girls" were coming round. It turned out "the girls" are the Queen and Princess Anne.

MotherofPearl · 15/08/2019 18:55

Royal Addicted has some great photos of PA:

I love the one where Zara has her arm around her.

MotherofPearl · 15/08/2019 18:57

And here we can see CPM taking a leaf out of the DoC's literal dressing book. She was opening a flower festival! The dress is a bit much for me I'm afraid.

The Clarence House insta account is very cheerful - they choose very jolly pictures, nothing stylised, just smiliness, roars of laughter and the odd cute animal thrown in for good measure.

MotherofPearl · 15/08/2019 19:15

Sorry about prolific posting this evening! Here we have Marina Hyde quite rightly pointing out the huge hypocrisy of the press constantly slamming Meghan while giving Prince Andrew a relatively easy ride:

I agree MotherofPearl

Bought Patrick Jephsons book about Diana yesterday. Hope it is interesting.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/08/2019 20:01

He was her press secretary?

Wonder if Andrew really will remain untouched. It's a bit awful that Eugene's main charity is an anti-slavery organisation.

AppleKatie · 15/08/2019 22:32

I imagine he will Sad

I quite like CPM’s dress, I have a bit of a guilty pleasure in literal dressing 😃

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/08/2019 10:11

King Wax's aunt has died.

Of course he will! I find the pair of them despicable. Bloody ''fergie'' and the revolting other half. Let them get back together and fuck off for good to some remote island to hide.

The article asks why Meghan is being targeted while this pair are far worse. I think the difference is: Theirs (A+F) is an old story, his part of it with proper serious horrific illegalities and ramifications bubbling under the surface for years. Only so much the press can say. The Meghan bad press is superficial horrible gossip which sells papers. It's a load of bollocks but hopefully will dry up eventually. Like all froth. All new members of the RF seem to get it once the wedding fever is gone.

New photos from season 3 of The Crown

I agree the gurning in the car with Mummy on the way to church was stomach churning.

I'm saying no more now Grin

Elllllle · 16/08/2019 10:55

I know this has been covered threads ago but those actresses in the Crown 3 just look SO WRONG to my eyes. IMO they should have chosen a few unknowns who look more like the people they are portraying...

queenofarles · 16/08/2019 11:11

agree Ellllle , I’m not convinced either, wish they kept Claire Foy and aged her up with makeup , she was perfect.

I’ve been thinking about this more than I should, going to Marbs, In the middle of all this , doesn’t sound very bright.

Daisypie · 16/08/2019 11:30

Helena BC looks very consciously pouty as Margaret. Doesn't look like a fit to me.

Haworthia · 16/08/2019 11:40

It would have looked crap if they’d aged Claire Foy with make up. There’s no way they could have make her look like QEII in the 80s and 90s (which is what series 5 and 6 will cover, when the cast will change again). I think the whole premise of recruiting an older cast every two seasons is genius actually, and although I agree that seeing OC and HBC in these photos is kind of jarring, I think the scripts and cinematography are such high quality (not to mention they’re great actors) we’ll get used to it really quickly.

Wetdogloveshubert · 16/08/2019 12:51

How sad to hear of Princess Christina's passing.

I saw the 'behind the scenes' videos that were put up for the new The Crown series, and it looks again like they've had a really good grounding in all of the necessaries, like diction and mannerisms etc. but still 'played' with the parts as fiction. It will be very interesting to see how they're done, and compare with old videos and memories of the events. It won't be covering any events I remember, so I'll be reliant on mumsnet to relay whether it's good or not from a historical view. I'm excited - the first two series were so good.

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/08/2019 12:57

I'm willing to suspend judgement until I've watched season 3. I don't think anyone thought Clare F was much like HM either and look how that worked out!

OP posts:
Elllllle · 16/08/2019 13:21

OC is brilliant, especially in comedic roles and I dont dislike HBC (although she has a tendency to overact). They both play a type though, I suppose, amd neither look like the younger actors or like the real thing. I just cant buy either of them as cast at present. We will see!

Dirtystreetpie · 16/08/2019 13:24

But isn’t it weird that Helena B-C is
8 years older than Olivia C and yet playing her younger sister?

Although I think once we all get used to the changes they’ll probably all be great. They’re all fab actors imo hardest part is making the roles their own after the other cast did such a good job

beanaseireann · 16/08/2019 13:45

I'm surprised that Andrew was allowed accompany the Queen to church.
It just didnt feel or look right under the circumstances.
On the DM website, article featuring F and A travelling to Spain by private jet, the comments are all about the private jet and climate change implications and the cost and them getting back together.
The link with J Epstein doesn't appear to be addressed.
The readership either don't know or don't care. Sad

As Jim Royle would say " Getting back together, my ar*e."
