Just discovered Perfume Parlour...

I'm so late to this party, but Perfume Parlour is amazing isn't it?!

I have the oils of Dove fragrance and Oh Lola, and the Oh Lola really is close to the real thing once they have both been on the skin for a few minutes.

Have now ordered my all time favourite perfume Romance, and also JM Lime, Basil and Mandarin to see what's that like, can't wait for them to arrive! They are just so damn cheap!

Any other recommendations? Do PP do any Diptyque fragrances? I can't find them on a search but I don't know if they are under something else?

Also, the fragrance dust, is it any good? What is it made from, I guess it's still quite chemically?

And finally, DH never wears fragrance and I've never bothered getting him any as it would be such a waste of money and I think he would be a bit annoyed. But these are so cheap, I don't think he could moan at me for getting one to try! I'm totally clueless about men's fragrance, does anyone have any suggestions? I think I would quite like a sort of traditional 'aftershavey' smell rather than the tobacco/leather type ones I think? Summat sexy!

Thank you!

I don't know if this is another one of these batshit Mrs Hinch zoflora type things and I should be doing it, but I have been using the oils around the house a bit as well - put some of the Dove oil on a bit of cotton wool and put in the hoover to make the house smell nice whilst hoovering, and also some on a colour catcher in the wash to make the washing smell nice. Im not sure I should be putting them in with my washing or around the house, but then I figure I wear it on my skin and it's OK and it can't be worse than the synthetic stuff in fabric softener etc. They are so cheap that I can do these things with them for pennies!

I work with teens... do you think they'd appreciate these as a top-up scent for xmas?

itwaseverthus · 28/09/2019 15:36

Just put my two perfumes that arrived today in the bin Sad Neither smells anything like the perfumes and both just smell like aftershave or hair spray. Still, was worth a punt. I think maybe the scents were too complex.

Puppylucky · 28/09/2019 15:48

Just out of curiosity what did you order @itowaseverthus? Although I love them generally, I've chucked a few PP orders and I'm trying to nail what it is they really can't copy well

itwaseverthus · 28/09/2019 16:50

Puppylucky it was the 'smells like' (or doesn't actually) Hermes Eau des Merveilles and Diptyque 34.

TheCanterburyWhales · 28/09/2019 18:10

The older, "classic" perfumes are more difficult to copy because of new ingredient regulations, and also because of the number of ingredients.
More modern less complex fragrances (Jo Malone being prime example) are very easy to dupe, as are citrussy things like Neroli Portofino etc etc.
I have boxes of PP stuff and many are better than the real thing because of longevity- again any cologne that you've forked out for is mainly water so isn't going to last.

neveradullmoment99 · 28/09/2019 18:55

Well i have pomegranate noir and its amazing. I also bought the fireside one and its gorgeous. Had so many compliments. I bought a baby powder one and its horrible! In the bin it goes.

MadisonAvenue · 28/09/2019 19:01

I tried two, one supposedly like Lush Karma (which I’ve worn for years and is my favourite perfume) and the other Black Opium. The Karma one smells like the original for a few minutes and then loses the sharpness and becomes quite floral before quickly disappearing altogether. The Black Opium is nice but disappears quickly.

Please be careful - hot oil can cause fires. At one point the hotpoint dryer fires were being blamed in people have essential oils on their clothing which was washed too low to break down.

I have quite acidic skin and the oils just don't stay on me. Normally perfume is a bit better so looks like I'll be paying loads. Sad

TheCanterburyWhales · 28/09/2019 22:02

I don't like the oils, too faffy. The sprays are much better.

EternallyGrapefruit · 28/09/2019 22:23

If people get a PP that they don't like, is it worth having a PP swaps thread? Someone might lkke them even if they're not right.

TiddleTaddleTat · 28/09/2019 23:53

I have quite a few perfumes from PP but have gone off them because of how synthetic they smell. Cheap though...

itwaseverthus · 29/09/2019 11:49

I am happy to post my two on to anyone who wants to try them. EternallyGrapefruit if you would like to try them, pm me an address and I will put them in a jiffy bag.

VeganCow · 29/09/2019 12:48

Ive never tried these and would love to.

Have looked at the ebay store list and can’t find the Hermes ones mentioned up thread?

itwaseverthus · 29/09/2019 13:18

VeganCow pm your address and I can send you the Herme's Eau Des Merveilles if you want to try it.

VeganCow · 29/09/2019 15:45

Do I have to pm from a desktop pc? I can't see an option from Safari or the app?!

EternallyGrapefruit · 29/09/2019 22:04

itwaseverthus Ooh, I'd love to try the Diptique one...

itwaseverthus · 29/09/2019 23:30

@EternallyGrapefruit pm me your address and will post it tomorrow.

EternallyGrapefruit · 30/09/2019 20:18

Thank you!!!

Theipcode · 02/10/2019 16:15

Anyone tried any of the wax melts or dust and what do you think of it?

VeganCow · 08/10/2019 13:41

@itwaseverthus thank you so much for letting me have your bottle of Herme's Eau Des Merveilles. I dont know what the original smells like but I love this, it is just the kind of perfume I go for. It was so nice of you to send it Smile

kmini · 08/10/2019 21:49

So today I used my roll on oil in my oil diffusers. I used the jo loves pomelo dupe and I thought it smelled incredible. My husband came home and asked if I'd spilt those 'oils' I bought as it smelt awful!!!

So does anyone else do this and do they dilute in someway?

EternallyGrapefruit · 10/10/2019 08:28

Aw, kmini if you loved it then that should be okay! He probably just wasn't expecting it!

itwaseverthus thank you for the oil! I didn't realise it was the big bottle. So kind if you to share! I see what you mean about it not being quite right... I'm not keen on it either so does anyone else want me to post it forward to try? Grin

UrghJustUrgh · 10/10/2019 14:55

I've ordered the 5x 3ml rollers for £10. Can't wait!
