Just discovered Perfume Parlour...

I'm so late to this party, but Perfume Parlour is amazing isn't it?!

I have the oils of Dove fragrance and Oh Lola, and the Oh Lola really is close to the real thing once they have both been on the skin for a few minutes.

Have now ordered my all time favourite perfume Romance, and also JM Lime, Basil and Mandarin to see what's that like, can't wait for them to arrive! They are just so damn cheap!

Any other recommendations? Do PP do any Diptyque fragrances? I can't find them on a search but I don't know if they are under something else?

Also, the fragrance dust, is it any good? What is it made from, I guess it's still quite chemically?

And finally, DH never wears fragrance and I've never bothered getting him any as it would be such a waste of money and I think he would be a bit annoyed. But these are so cheap, I don't think he could moan at me for getting one to try! I'm totally clueless about men's fragrance, does anyone have any suggestions? I think I would quite like a sort of traditional 'aftershavey' smell rather than the tobacco/leather type ones I think? Summat sexy!

Thank you!

I got oil, cant remember which ones other than boss orange, fendee and something like 112? I'll get the names when I go upstairs.

I got them really for the boss orange and that's faded within an hour. Sad

imclaustrophobicdarren · 15/08/2019 11:19

These are my faves! I've since bought the same in oils and keep a roll in oil in my bag.

The show of flowers is a copy of JM peony and blush suede - my summer fave, having gone through 2 bottles of this since nov and so happy to have found this cheaper version!

The other one is a copy of JM myrhh and tonka, I'd wanted to try this for ages after smelling it in store but it's just a lot of money. So really chuffed with this commiphora bean!

Thanks, ButDoYou

It seems to be working again for me today any my order is on its way - dupes of Creed Aventus, Gucci Première and Tom Ford Tuscan Leather.

I've had the Aventus one before and loved it. It was called Aventis rather than Avalanche Fruity for Men then! Similar enough in smell to the original to make me very happy indeed but a slight difference that made me like it in its own right too.

Interested to try the Avalanche Woody for Men which is supposedly a woodier dupe of the Creed original. Anyone tried it? It has reasonable reviews but is pricier than most of their other scents.

cheeseismyspiritanimal · 16/08/2019 15:49

Mine arrived this morning.
So far have worn the Gucci Bamboo dupe. It smells almost identical and is overall a really lovely scent. I got the rollerball and applied this morning and can still smell it on me now, although is starting to fade. I think I will get the spray as well to layer the scent a bit as I think you'd only be able to smell if you were really close.

Really pleased so far 👍🏼

I've also requested a 24-bottle deal on their page for a build-your-own advent calendar Grin maybe more of us should request this?

WingBingo · 19/08/2019 17:06

I have the D&G feminine dupe. It’s my all time favourite perfume but discontinued so I was thrilled to discover it.

It doesn’t last a long time though, would I be better with the oil anyone?

I love how you select where you heard about app and mumsnet is an option!

Wehttam · 19/08/2019 17:11

Without being snobby, I have to have the real thing. Fake fragrance is like fake bags, if you can’t afford it then you don’t have it, the cheapness of the ingredients and lack of responsibility by the creators just makes me cringe. Dupe is a friendly fluffy term for fake / copy.

Scruffalicious · 19/08/2019 17:58

Ah, so I'm poor so I don't deserve nice things. Got it.

WingBingo · 19/08/2019 19:03

Fake bags are not the same.

Fake bags are masquerading as real, PP makes no such claim.

OooErMissus · 19/08/2019 19:23

Fake fragrance is like fake bags, if you can’t afford it then you don’t have it

Well, no, you don't have it.

Clearly loads of other people do, given the bustling trade.

Blatant place-marking, as never heard of PP until this thread. I wouldn't buy a rip-off handbag, but more than happy to buy a duplicate fragrance.

Scruffalicious · 19/08/2019 19:27

It's just a mix of notes. I'm happy to buy the same mix of notes from someone else with a different name... it's like baking cakes with the same ingredients!

Scruffalicious · 19/08/2019 19:27

OooErMissus I hope you love them! 😍

Alsohuman · 19/08/2019 19:29

All I care about is smelling good. And your comment is the epitome of snobbishness @Wehttam.

Puppylucky · 19/08/2019 19:32

I agree a bit with WingBingo in that there are some perfumes that are so important to me that I only buy the original - but given that one of those is the 20 quid Madonna Truth or Dare fragrance, it's got nothing to do with cost and everything to do with emotional connection Grin. To me Perfume Parlour is a playground that lets me play with notes and fragrance styles with zero risk and I love it for that. I've discovered scents I love and realised what I really don't get on with, all on a budget that I can afford. Good Times!

Geraniumpink · 19/08/2019 19:48

One of the (many) things I love about perfume is that is fairly cheap to play about with - whether it’s by buying dupes or tiny samples. There’s lots of things I would love, but I can’t afford. But this luxury I can enjoy and educate myself in and have fun with on a small budget. It’s all good.

applesandacorns · 19/08/2019 19:58

Ooo didn't realise there was a Perfume Parlour thread (I asked for recommendations yesterday)! I'm so excited for mine to arrive. Smile I ended up ordering dupes for Hypnotic Poison, Mugler Alien and Mugler Aura, but I think I'm going to end up ordering more tonight after reading this thread. Grin

XingMing · 19/08/2019 20:09

The PP version of Prada's Infusion d'Iris is better and longer-lasting than the original. I love the Prada and was given a FB, but was going through it fast as it didn't last long. The PP version lasts a lot longer but is no heavier.

Wehttam · 19/08/2019 20:15

I’m not being snobby I just wouldn’t ever buy fakes or copies or dupes or whatever you want to call it. I can’t be the only one who sees it for what it actually is? Only fooling yourselves into thinking you’re wearing the original. Sorry 💋

Alsohuman · 19/08/2019 20:24

Don’t be ridiculous. Nobody wearing a PP fragrance is fooling themselves about anything. Some of their dupes are better than the originals.

tobee · 19/08/2019 20:32

Thanks to this thread I got my little tiny roller balls today!

Is it just me that thinks they've made their names more ridiculous (probably had to)? I opened my packages and forgot what they were the dupes for and had to do a bit of sleuthin

OooErMissus · 19/08/2019 20:35

Only fooling yourselves into thinking you’re wearing the original.

Nobody thinks they're wearing the original.

The point is - the originals are often actually lower quality, due to being watered down, and/or the high alcohol content - which kills off the perfume, but is needed to make them sprayable.

What's so great about paying over the odds for packaging, marketing and celebrity endorsement?

Is that actually what you want?

Or is it a decent scent?

Wehttam · 19/08/2019 20:37

Missus You’ve missed the point completely. How can they be better than the originals? Madness. I’ll stick to Selfridges thanks ❤️

DameXanaduBramble · 19/08/2019 20:42

Some are actually better. Look, I’m a dyed in the wool Chanel / Dior perfume lover and I love the whole packaging, feel etc of a lovely perfume but some of these really can’t be beaten wehttam. There’s no copyright on smell. I get you with the bags, Ive just treated myself to a Chloe from Harrods, but PP? Nah, don’t mind at all. It’s only you who’s missing out by not trying them at least!

OooErMissus · 19/08/2019 20:47

By all means stick to Selfridges - it's your look out.

I agree with you on the handbag front. And I'm a Guerlain devotee. But really, it's a case of the more the merrier when it comes to scents. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Alsohuman · 19/08/2019 20:53

I agree with bags, hence my extravagant Mulberry collection but scent when I can smell good for buttons? No.
