Just discovered Perfume Parlour...

I'm so late to this party, but Perfume Parlour is amazing isn't it?!

I have the oils of Dove fragrance and Oh Lola, and the Oh Lola really is close to the real thing once they have both been on the skin for a few minutes.

Have now ordered my all time favourite perfume Romance, and also JM Lime, Basil and Mandarin to see what's that like, can't wait for them to arrive! They are just so damn cheap!

Any other recommendations? Do PP do any Diptyque fragrances? I can't find them on a search but I don't know if they are under something else?

Also, the fragrance dust, is it any good? What is it made from, I guess it's still quite chemically?

And finally, DH never wears fragrance and I've never bothered getting him any as it would be such a waste of money and I think he would be a bit annoyed. But these are so cheap, I don't think he could moan at me for getting one to try! I'm totally clueless about men's fragrance, does anyone have any suggestions? I think I would quite like a sort of traditional 'aftershavey' smell rather than the tobacco/leather type ones I think? Summat sexy!

Thank you!

I see it like a recipe. Someone puts various ingredients together to create something that has a certain taste. Is no one allowed to recreate it or try and recreate it? 🤷‍♀️

neveradullmoment99 · 30/08/2019 15:20

,,and also costs a fraction to make perfume so the perfume houses are ripping customers off! Why do you think the perfume parlour can charge so cheaply. I think its brilliant that we can access places like this. I could never afford TF prices.

tobee · 30/08/2019 21:44

You can search under the original name eg Tom Ford Neroli Portofino as well as the dupe name

Either they don't do Chanel anymore or they've changed the name. They used to but presumably Chanel threatened to sue or something

neveradullmoment99 · 30/08/2019 22:04

Ive looked for chanel too and I could never find it.

applesandacorns · 30/08/2019 22:33

I've honestly been so impressed with PP... and I work for a company that sells the real deal high-end stuff. I'd even buy PP over the heavily staff-discounted originals. My fave atm is the Hypnotic Poison dupe (oil form), I get so many compliments on it.

longtompot · 30/08/2019 22:47

Does anyone know if they do Boss Nuit? It comes in a black rectangular bottle with a clear lid. There is also a Boss Jour one in a pink bottle.

Hoooo · 30/08/2019 22:48

If any of you like mmm replica by the fireplace I can't recommend their dupe enough....
It's called "wood fire".
It's indistinguishable from the real thing.

Branleuse · 31/08/2019 11:09

wood fire is lovely. Such a cosy smell for the colder months.
I have perfumes for different seasons. They just dont smell right in the wrong season

Puppylucky · 31/08/2019 11:19

They do still do chanel perfumes but they don't make any reference to the brand or the individual perfumes on the site - presumably for legal reasons. To find the Chanel ones you have to search by fragrance note (e.g. Rose) and then work it out from the reviews. One of the lovely ladies on the Perfume Lovers thread did all this homework and posted the results a few years ago so you could also just search on here - could be easier!

Hoooo · 31/08/2019 20:15

bran
I'm wearing it now!
Love it so much. I always make sure I have a back up bottle :)
I use the wood fire fragrance dust too...amazing.
The rive gauche and opium dupes are also incredible.

Hoooo · 31/08/2019 22:45

Wrt dupes;

Big fragrance houses have to charge ££££ for the rent of their franchises in stores - like Selfridges 😊 - and the multi million £££ advertising campaigns.

Do NOT fool yourself that you are paying for better quality ingredients!

If anyone is interested in a really niche, ethical UK perfume company, try 4160 Tuesdays. All perfumes hand bottled, discounts for sending back your own bottles for refilling...

I have many perfumes from £5 Avon scents to ££££ niche and major brands.

They are all wonderful!

(Avon use noses like roucell, kenzo, sheldrake....check them out!)

CrowleysBentley · 01/09/2019 11:45

Which is better, the spray or the roll on? There are a few I would like to try and I think I am going to order some today, I'm particularly excited about the Gucci Envy dupe, I used to love that scent so much.

tobee · 01/09/2019 13:45

Hmm. I didn't really like my Ange ou Demon dupe. At very first sniff I thought it was lovely but within seconds there was a strong underlying scent of rotten vegetation, manky cucumber you find at the bottom of your salad crisper! Shock I don't know the original though.

tobee · 01/09/2019 13:47

I personally think the roll ons are better @CrowleysBentley. I didn't used to know Gucci Envy but got it because of recs here. It's lovely.

tobee · 01/09/2019 13:47

Thanks for the info @Puppylucky

Puppylucky · 01/09/2019 13:50

Ange ou Demon has a vegetable note which I really love - think it's cumin - but it's not for everyone so it sounds like the PP is an accurate dupe. Sorry you don't like it though!

FrederickAlgernonTrotteville · 01/09/2019 14:06

The problem I found with 4160 Hoooo is that they all smell more or less the same. I bought a variety pack of tester sizes, and they all smell like a sweet shop, then fade to lemon. I was really disappointed after reading the hype (mostly on s&b, to be honest). I'd rather buy a whole load of dupes from P P.

tobee · 01/09/2019 15:43

I'd be interested to try a squirt of the real thing @Puppylucky

tobee · 01/09/2019 15:49

There was a perfume parlour one I tried a couple of Halloween's ago which smelt like rotten pumpkin 🎃 on the dry downConfusedCan't remember what now.

Pp dupe of Portrait of a Lady smells like Vick on first application but settles beautifully.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/09/2019 17:24

I wasn't really that impressed with 4160 Tuesdays either. I too got samples and really most of them weren't that great.
I am looking forward to my order which are mostly Tom Ford. I did order wood smoke after recommendations on here when they got in touch with me to say they were OOS of one particular scent I had ordered.

Propertyofhood · 01/09/2019 17:45

I'm another who found 4160 Tuesdays a bit disappointing. I used to be on Mrs Gloss and the Goss and people went on and on about it on there, so I ordered some samples and I had been really excited for them and when I got them I was just like 'meh'.

They weren't unpleasant as such (apart from a couple which I really didn't like) but I just thought that for the price, they would be a bit more interesting.

shirleyshuffle · 01/09/2019 18:16

Hi. Just tried to order after reading the posts. Postage £16.50 to Northern Ireland?

MadisonAvenue · 03/09/2019 09:55

I placed my first order at the weekend, how long does delivery typically take?

Puppylucky · 03/09/2019 14:46

@tobee The original Ange Ou Demon is beautiful! It's soft and feminine without being sickly sweet. It's one of the few brands I still buy the original of. I heard a nasty rumour that it's been discontinued but you can still buy on ebay and amazon and its not mega expensive

Chocolateteabag · 03/09/2019 16:37

I used to work for the company which makes Boss Orange,Gucci Bamboo etc ( think huge multi product company - made nappies etc)
I could buy perfumes and aftershaves from the staff shop for £2-10 depending on if they were boxed or not. The company made a profit on the price I paid.

So I really don't have any scruples on buying from PP

People like to think that paying £££ means they are getting £££ quality - while that may be true elsewhere, with perfume you are just paying a whopping great markup
