Just discovered Perfume Parlour...

I'm so late to this party, but Perfume Parlour is amazing isn't it?!

I have the oils of Dove fragrance and Oh Lola, and the Oh Lola really is close to the real thing once they have both been on the skin for a few minutes.

Have now ordered my all time favourite perfume Romance, and also JM Lime, Basil and Mandarin to see what's that like, can't wait for them to arrive! They are just so damn cheap!

Any other recommendations? Do PP do any Diptyque fragrances? I can't find them on a search but I don't know if they are under something else?

Also, the fragrance dust, is it any good? What is it made from, I guess it's still quite chemically?

And finally, DH never wears fragrance and I've never bothered getting him any as it would be such a waste of money and I think he would be a bit annoyed. But these are so cheap, I don't think he could moan at me for getting one to try! I'm totally clueless about men's fragrance, does anyone have any suggestions? I think I would quite like a sort of traditional 'aftershavey' smell rather than the tobacco/leather type ones I think? Summat sexy!

Thank you!

@DameXanaduBramble i agree with you. Nobody owns a scent.

Maybe it’s similar too high street stores copying trends off the catwalk.

Nothing like fake handbags though.

Propertyofhood · 19/08/2019 21:47

Without being snobby, I have to have the real thing. Fake fragrance is like fake bags, if you can’t afford it then you don’t have it, the cheapness of the ingredients and lack of responsibility by the creators just makes me cringe. Dupe is a friendly fluffy term for fake / copy.

Lol at 'without being snobby' 😂

I don't give a fuck if something is 'the real thing' or not if it performs as well as something which is 10 times the price. Some of the dupes are amazing, some of them not so much. But for the price you can play around.

Same for dupes by Makeup Revolution and the like of iconic makeup products. Some of them are shitty, a lot of them are brilliant. And for the price of one ABH palette, you can buy about 6 or 7 MUR ones.

And I do enjoy using something knowing I haven't paid way over the odds for nothing more than a famous name.

No one is fooling themselves that it's 'the real thing' as in the name or the packaging. But a smell is a smell, and I don't really care if I have paid a fiver or 50 quid for it!

I love PP. Some of the things I’ve ordered have been quite nasty but for the price, I don’t mind throwing them away. I had a dupe of Santal 33 and it made me nauseous and Noir de Noir by Tom Ford also turned my stomach. I actually smelled them both on a holiday recently and the originals had the same effect so the PP dupes were pretty realistic

My absolute favourite is Hermes Un Jardin Sur le Nil- it’s even better than the original. As mentioned, Prada Infusion d’Iris is lovely too. I ordered some car diffusers but found them really poor and I could barely smell them at all

OooErMissus · 19/08/2019 23:09

DH recently bought me Hermès Un Jardin Sur le Nils and En Mediterranee.

I prefer the latter, so am interested to learn that the PP dupe of Sur le Nils is actually better that the original.

Is there a dupe of En Mediterranee?

cloud1183 · 20/08/2019 07:03

There is oooer. I actually smelled the pp before the original so when I eventually did smell the original I didn’t like the opening and thought it was nowhere near as good and didnt last 5 minutes

nottoday3000 · 20/08/2019 18:55

Without being snobby🙄I I've got my first pp order bloody lovely from someone who easily has 60 bottles of perfume so much so I've ordered 2 more goes away and realises how much money I've wasted !!!

supercee · 20/08/2019 20:06

Argh I wish I never viewed this thread! Have just ordered a couple to start me off. Out of stock on my favourite Tom Ford though.

OooErMissus · 20/08/2019 21:41

Nobody's going to know, passing you in the street, where you bought your perfume, or even necessarily which one you're wearing.

Especially as there are so many these days, so they're not necessarily instantly recognisable. Plus, perfumes can often smell slightly differently on different people.

Unlike a rip-off handbag.

clairethewitch70 · 20/08/2019 22:18

Does anyone remember Echoes by L'Arome perfume parties in the 1980's ? They were the longest lasting best dupes ever. I still have some and they still smell amazing.

YesQueen · 21/08/2019 22:34

Yeah I have "real" perfumes, I like browsing selfridges and I wear anything from Byredo to Nenuco. Some of mine are in the £150+ price bracket and I have far too many about 60+ bottles
Do I buy from perfume parlour? Hell yes. I go off is it good? So MMM lazy Sunday morning is beautiful, but so is gold sugar, and nenuco cologne and Nivea PP dupe

I'm the same with makeup. I use a £7.50 foundation because it's genuinely the best ever foundation (I'm including Chanel, Lancôme, Dior...) I have EVER used. But I adore MAC woodwinked eyeshadow, and nothing compares to that so I pay for it 🤷🏽‍♀️

Propertyofhood · 22/08/2019 09:43

Come on then, what is it?! Smile

YesQueen · 22/08/2019 09:49

@Propertyofhood it's the CYO brand, called lifeproof foundation Grin

lololove · 22/08/2019 17:16

Those who wear the Dove Soap one - is it the oil or the spray? :)

I ask because I have the oil that I've started after running out my first one (khool water - it was AMAZING and just like the real thing) and first day I'm finding it smelling like there's something not-quite-right under the fragrance. Not that it's off or necessary bad just there's definitely a scent that isn't quite right.

Not sure if it's me and my chemical make up and how it makes it smell or if that is how it smells if you understand Grin. If I smell it above or to the side of it it's nice, if I smell directly where it's rolled - it's not nice. Hoping its just the alcohol and it needs to settle and warm.

I couldn't get on with the Nivea one, although it did smell like Nivea cream I just couldn't deal with having it on my skin. I kept getting whafts of it during the day and I didn't like it. It became a bit hot car smelling.

One I do love and I'm saving for Winter is - I think - a cheap mans aftershave dupe that I bought after putting in 'winter' 'christmas' 'cool/clean' type keywords. Freeze Cyan 1786. It's cloves/ice/winter/mint - it's absolutely lovely!

Cerseilannisterinthesnow · 23/08/2019 16:22

The creed island water dupe is amazing, I also really rate the jo loves rose and lemon leaves.

tobee · 27/08/2019 17:42

What do posters think about the fragrance dust or the wax melts?

FrederickAlgernonTrotteville · 29/08/2019 20:09

Has anyone tried PP RIGHT LADY FOR WOMEN 1555 ? I'm looking for a dupe of Caroline Herrera Good Girl, which smells lovely but I can't buy a) because it's too £££ and b) because the name sets my teeth on edge. Grin
Anyone tried it yet? Is it any good?

Scruffalicious · 30/08/2019 10:07

Never tried the dust or melts so if anyone can advise? Also want an air freshener!

FrederickAlgernonTrotteville not tried but I'm of the opinion that they're cheap enough to take a gamble on Grin

supercee · 30/08/2019 11:55

I got my first delivery. Verdict is in -

TF Venetian Bergamot. Couldn't decide if I liked it in shop. Smells pretty much like the real deal and lasted all day. Still don't know if I like it.

Issey Miyake. One of my all time fav scents and go to. Again pretty close but a bit more synthetic-y. It's worn off quite a bit already but I did spray it lightly after the TF alike giving me a sore head.

Can't really moan for the price. Now if they would just do Acqua di Parma...

NoTheresa · 30/08/2019 12:07

Fake perfume is celeb perfumes are not for me. Am I allowed to say that?Confused

NoTheresa · 30/08/2019 12:08

...or celeb

FrederickAlgernonTrotteville · 30/08/2019 12:09

True Scruff! I got some a few months ago and love the black pomegranate. I wear it most days. I love a bargain Grin

tobee · 30/08/2019 14:06

Am I right in thinking they do car fresheners?

neveradullmoment99 · 30/08/2019 14:16

I bought the dupe of Tom Ford neroli portofino and it is gorgeous!!!! It goes as another name though so you need to scroll through the PP Tom ford selection. I absolutely love it. Have ordered a few other TF ones today.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/08/2019 14:21

Its called seville genoa 0628

Propertyofhood · 30/08/2019 15:02

Fake perfume is celeb perfumes are not for me.

But what is 'fake' about it? Perfume is just a series of notes blended together to make a smell. If it smells nice, it smells nice doesn't it? To be honest I'm not bothered about paying for a fancy bottle and a hilariously pretentious advert, I'm bothered about the smell.
