Sotd avon lbd weekend

Oh teta nightmare!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 25/08/2019 20:22

SOTD Miller Harris Cassis en Feuille. Not usually a fruity fan but the blackcurrant sharpness of this cut through the heat beautifully today.

I've been in such a terrible mood all day. Have only just snapped out of it after dp made me a massive g&t an hour ago.

I am having a huge career crisis and don't want to have to go back to work on Tuesday. I just want to run away to a silent retreat somewhere and not have to think about anything or anyone. Chance would be a fine thing.

Still, the gin is helping. Not sure whether that's a good thing or not Grin

Hoooo · 25/08/2019 21:11

Sorry to hear that maud
Glad the G&T is helping!

Dh out all day, still not home due to bad traffic.

My weird ear pain is back. Ffs. Feeling all bleurgh.

Still no hrt patches so another go at a coil fitting in a weeks time.

It's just too fecking hot. I HATE this weather SO much. I wish it would just FUCK OFF.

Sote Z&V this is her

Broken domestic appliances and waking up at 3am to the smell of teens cooking - that sound like my house Teta.

Unexpectedly home from our minibreak Sad . I pitched and packed away a tent twice today. Deep breaths...at least I'm getting quite good at it.

teta · 25/08/2019 23:32

I had some gin too as well today. Plus two Peronis in the sun. I’m now toasted one side and pale the other.
@MrsMoggs sympathies. And I thought the baby stage was the hardest. It does have a silver lining though. Mine are brilliant at cooking a steak and obsessive about the quality of their butter laden mash😁
@MaudBaileysGreenTurban I’m sorry you’re having a career rethink.Cassis en feuilles is stunning with its characteristic smell of tomato leaf.
@Hoooo I hope your ear is better tomorrow. I can’t believe you don’t like the sun. You’re definitely living in the right part of the world for that.
Now to bed with copious cooling sprays of Pamplemousse Rose.

Hoooo · 26/08/2019 08:24

Its my gaelic heritage I think teta :)

I lile 18 degreees and a nice breeze...maybe a bit of drizzle :)

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 26/08/2019 10:11

hoooo - I have persistent ear pain as well. Have been told it's my jaw, which is misaligned, but it radiates into my ear and head and can be agony. On a bad day I pop painkillers like sweeties and it doesn't do much for my mood poor dp 😁

Sorry to hear about your trip MrsM. I'm wearing your Proenza Schoeler today - it's very pretty. Must look up the notes. Thanks also for the two other samples but the writing had rubbed off so I'm not sure what they were? One was a PP I think...

I love the sun but am covered in monstrous bites all over my back and bum - I think from rolling around in the grass with cats yday Hmm

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 26/08/2019 10:17

Just looked up the PS Arizona notes - 'solar accord'? Not quite sure what the sun smells like...singed nostril hairs perhaps? Anyway, it's pretty and powdery and fairly generic but actually I'm completely in the mood for that today, so thank you Grin

Ds's father lives in Arizona, thank god it doesn't smell anything like him though...

Hoooo · 26/08/2019 10:46

My ear drum burst at some point last year and I had a load of debris suctioned out. Ew. I have scarring on the ear drum now and loss of low level hearing :(

Bit of a sore throat too so wondering if I'm coming down with something...

Sounds awful maud have you tried a night mouth guard?

Sotd avon lbd weekend. Lovely bright citrus. And £7 a bottle which is a plus :)

MrsMoggs · 26/08/2019 12:54

Maud - PP's take on Sahara Noir which I thought might be good for a frankincense fan (if I recall correctly?). Very thin opening compared to TF (which though does actually make it more wearable by day) but the long dry down is pretty similar. The other one is Nuits Indiennes (Scherrer, 1993). Was interested to see what you made of this:

Top notes: aldehydes, mandarin orange, fruity notes, peach, bergamot, lemon.
Middle notes: tagetes, lilac, jasmine, heliotrope, ylang ylang, lily of the valley, rose.
Base notes: amber, sandalwood, tonka bean, musk, benzoin, civet, vanilla, cedar.

Can I join please? Recently started a perfume obsession. Purchased
Versace Dylan blue,
Dior J'adore Absolu and Ralph Lauren Woman this weekend and I'm in love with all three tbh.
The versace smells like an expensive hair salon iykwim, the dior very white flowery and the lauren just smells lush and expensive to me.

Hoooo · 26/08/2019 16:47

You sent me nuits indiennes too mrsm love it x

Hoooo · 26/08/2019 18:44

Welcome princess!

Puppylucky · 26/08/2019 18:53

Hello! Haven't posted in this thread for ages but just had to sing the praises of my latest PP obsession. It's called Empire Coffee (a dupe for By Kilian's Imperial Tea) and it's the most perfect jasmine tea scent. It's absolutely beautiful in this weather!

teta · 27/08/2019 06:25

Well it's d day today.
My dad's having heart surgery that's much needed and I have to stay with my Mum for the next few days. So it's going to be anything fresh and citrussy to cut through the hospital smells.
I've been given strict instructions by my Mum not to wear those frayed jeans, ( last time she insisted on trimming them, so I didn't trip to the total bemusement of my teenagers !). Or cropped trousers........... as I need to look smart for the hospital visits. To put it in context I'm in my 50s 😄. And my Mum frequently looks like a bag lady 🤦. Their WiFi is down so I've bought a mini WiFi and a lot of data to keep me going for the month.
Wish me luck!

Hoooo · 27/08/2019 07:51

Huge hugs and lots of love to you and your mum and dad teta

I find eau de cologne good for hospitals!

MotherOfDragonite · 27/08/2019 17:53

Love love love the green jacket, teta!

Maud, sometimes a career rethink can end up resulting in some really positive changes. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

SOTD was Monyette Paris, but I'm not feeling it. I gave in and bought Smokey Midnight because I love MPG so much. Also some Sexiest Scent Ever (blind buy!) because it sounds great. I don't think 4160 Tuesdays will be doing half price scents again although they will be doing some kind of other special offer -- or that was how I read it.

MotherOfDragonite · 27/08/2019 17:54

Good luck teta.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/08/2019 20:50

teta hope everything went okay for your dad.

SOTD Heeley Sel Marin.

MrsMoggs · 27/08/2019 23:38

Thanks for the lovely things Maud Flowers. Boronia was love at first sniff (and that doesn't happen very often...).

Hope work has been OK today? Happy to compare career crisis notes anytime! (Think my perfume habit has been fuelled by extended work misery - it's a great escape...).

Hoo - I'd forgotten! I need to keep notes like Calm

Was in a couple of Molton Brown fragrances earlier today; Londinium (sweet smoky whisky), and Apuldre (sour green violet leaf and juniper with leather). I find the sourness of Apuldre quite challenging to wear, but I keep it because it is interesting, like an intense, bitter chutney). Boronia came as a fabulous antidote.

MrsMoggs · 27/08/2019 23:38

Teta - hope all went well Flowers.

Puppylucky · 28/08/2019 07:40

Oh MrsMoggs your post brought back memories.
I used to love Alpudre and wear it a lot - not sure it ever suited me though - as you say it's quite challenging to wear. Intense bitter chutney is a great description - spot on!
