Smellbow just re-reading your post; I know you said not too floral but Tocca Florence is gardenia, tuberose and jasmine which are really the Big Three white florals, plus fruits, so you may enjoy something a little more 'full-on' than you think Grin

MrsMoggs · 13/06/2019 19:24

Hi Smellbow - try Miller Harris's Fleurs de Sel - beautiful seasalt/herbal fragrance. Lasts too Smile.

Iambuffy · 13/06/2019 19:27

Oh lovely maud thank you x

SmellMySmellbow · 13/06/2019 19:33

@MrsMoggs thank you! I will try it.

@MaudBaileysGreenTurban you are absolutely right. It's weirdly not floral in my mind. Maybe I remember it wrong as it's been about 5 years since I had it! Or maybe the citrus notes made it less floral to my nose. Anything like that you'd recommend?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 13/06/2019 19:46

Smellbow (that thread was so funny) Jane from BritishBeautyBlogger had a post about Tocca fragrances last week
britishbeautyblogger.com/fragrance/tocca-florence-fragrance/

Liberty are stocking Tocca www.libertylondon.com/uk/florence-eau-de-parfum-50ml-284193.html?utm_source=LinkShare&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=QFGLnEolOWg&utm_content=15&utm_term=UKNetwork&source=Rakuten&ranMID=41662&ranEAID=QFGLnEolOWg&ranSiteID=QFGLnEolOWg-6CzHvg67UHNSPri7syFGJA#

Though it's always good to try new scents. A girl can never have too many!

SmellMySmellbow · 13/06/2019 19:50

@MaudBaileysGreenTurban sorry I just saw your suggestions. Thank you. I will try them.
@motherofdragonite yes it does make a bit of a difference, but I can't see myself slathering moisturiser on more than my face daily, I'm a lazy cow. Plus the Jo Malone price point I don't think I should be shelling out even more for the cream just to eke it beyond the 30 mins staying power. I'd rather keep hunting for a better quality as I suspect JM a lot of the £ is for the name... and shop overheads!

In the 90's I wore Issey Miyake every day. I guess that's floral too! But a fresh clean scent, so I guess that's what I'm drawn to. Nothing too sweet. Angel, for example, makes me sick in my mouth.

SmellMySmellbow · 13/06/2019 19:53

@TracyBeakerSoYeah thank you! Glad Liberty are stocking it. I wish I was in London so I could spend a few hours in Liberty sniffing stuff.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 13/06/2019 19:53

Smellbow how about Hermes: Jour d'Hermes Gardenia? Tuberose and gardenia with citrus notes to 'lift' it? You can buy samples on Notino.com to give it a whirl before you commit Smile

Iambuffy · 13/06/2019 21:03

Mmm whispers in the library has a definite note of hairspray

clucky3 · 13/06/2019 22:05

Hi all, I have been lurking on these threads for a while, can I join you? Wearing rive gauche today but I'm finding the weather is making me all confused when choosing a scent each morning Hmm

Iambuffy · 13/06/2019 22:07

Rive gauche is beautiful:)

I know what you mean, though.

Atm I'm in a pp by the fireplace and Avon timeless loop....

Bodyonme · 14/06/2019 06:29

Smellbow, I had a Tocca fragrance for my wedding perfume too! Brigitte, which they don't appear to do any more looking at Liberty site. I still have some left though so I'll have to eke it out. I wish they did a discovery/sample set as I'd like to try some of the others and am up in Manchester so nowhere near Liberty!

On the JM one, have you tried the dupe from Perfume Parlour? You can get oil based ones which last longer imo and they seem to be pretty good on replicating JM scents. You might also like their English Pear and Freesia.

Iambuffy · 14/06/2019 08:08

Sotd my beloved pp by the fireplace

teta · 14/06/2019 10:18

Cristalle again today . This is my efficient business perfume, but I have a hangover after celebrating dd1's return last night. Hence the business meeting is over my kitchen table.

MrsMoggs · 14/06/2019 10:18

SoyesterdayE was Fleurs de Sel, and sticking with MH today, with the warming La Fumee. (Central Heating also on).

Encens Flamboyant on my other wrist as I'm still trying to work this one out - one of the most intriguing things I've smelt in a while. Not sure if I like wearing it yet though...

clucky3 · 14/06/2019 11:23

I love la fumee! I contemplated it this morning but ended up going with a summer scent (TF orchid soleil) to cheer me up

Iambuffy · 14/06/2019 11:36

maud you should get your CVC today.

As there are no takers for TSB I'll give it to my sister. She likes floral scents.

SmellMySmellbow · 14/06/2019 11:40

Done a big sample order at Notino based on your recommendations. Excited. Also ordered a sample of Hermès Un Jardin Sur Le Nil which sounds amazing. Anyone got it/like it?

MontanaSkies · 14/06/2019 12:04

Brrr... OK I've broken out of my No. 19 rut and SOTD is Eau des Merveilles. It feels summery but warming at the same time. Actually, you might like it @SmellMySmellbow - it combines refreshing/ bitter top notes of orange with deeper, muskier, herbal vibes. Lots of people get a salty-skin scent from it.

@MrsMoggs you just reminded me I have a sample of Fleurs de Sel! Might be tomorrow's choice.

CountFosco · 14/06/2019 12:28

SotD Dryad. Not worn it for a wee while. Green chypres can cope with the cold and damp.

Might have to wear Fleur de Sel tomorrow now sheep

cantbelievemyeyes · 14/06/2019 13:26

SOTD Centrepiece. A hug in a bottle for a busy stressful day. Just popping into town for lunch though and it's gotten out lovely here!

Payday today. Must. Not. Buy. Perfume

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 14/06/2019 13:38

SOTD is Tauer Patch Flash, which I usually adore, but I think I might have gone a bit OTT with the spritzing this morning as am feeling a bit overwhelmed by it today.

I used to have a sample of Jardin sur le Nil smellbow - I think it was probably a bit 'transparent' for me but J-C Ellena is regarded by many as a god of perfumery so it's me that's out of step Grin. Hope you enjoy your samples, come and tell us what you think!

montana - Eau des Merveilles is a modern classic I think. The amber goes quite dirty on me though.

Encens Flamboyant sounds marvellous, MrsM. That reminds me, I need to dig out my samples of Sables - haven't worn it for ages. There aren't many days that call for a big hit of immortelle, though!

MontanaSkies · 14/06/2019 13:53

I think I know what you mean about the dirty amber maud. I only ever spray Eau des merveilles if I have freshly washed hair. If I don't, I feel slightly uncomfortable and grubby! It's a funny thing.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/06/2019 14:15

I've picked up montana's baton, and SOTD is Chanel 19. I got my freelance work money this morning, and am desperate to buy something. I went to M&S at lunch and got nice food for the weekend, and some peonies, but I definitely have a retail itch that I need to scratch. I am not sure I want to smell of hairspray, though, buffy. Maybe I should get a decant of Whispers on eBay?

MrsMoggs · 14/06/2019 14:33

What a good thought Maud - now scrabbling around for my Sables sample - the smell nothing alike, but have a very similar in their conceptual nature and push at the boundaries of perfume. Le Participe Passe perhaps belongs in their company too (but of the three, Encens Flamboyant is the toughest wear, IMO).
