Oh, how fabulous Calm - please report back!

Iambuffy · 01/08/2019 22:06

Germolene!!!
Thats what it smells of!

Bloom Perfumery are having a 20% off sale. It only lasted 3 days and today is the last day

Nooooooo! I didn't see this till today. I need Nuit de Bakelite and I would have bought it in the sale without hesitation. I'm now going to sulk in the corner.

WTF did someone say to get deleted on the perfume thread? Grin

Smiling at the thought of us all with huge stashes of pulses and perfume! DH is a prepper but this was in preparation for a zombie apocalypse (yes, seriously!) so I think his current "told you so"s shouldn't count? Grin

Jaime I liked Neon Rose! It's the only FS I've actually enjoyed though. It's a shame as their longevity is great on me (isn't that always the way!) I also liked the Kayali citrus.

Maud you must try the perfume parlour! Or your Perfumista badge will be revoked! Grin I'm sure we did top 10 PP lists on a previous thread, I'll try and have a look.

Zoflora lavender...mmmm! DC2 came home the other day "I brought you a present"...a bottle of Zoflora! I was very proud Smile

Scent of a Dream I found disappointing when I tried it. I think my expectations were too high, because A Charlotte Tilbury and B Ibiza hippies, should have been right up my street! I'll stick to the PP version of Lush Karma Wink

Haven't decided on a SOTD yet as it's so muggy here.

Maud, someone linked to the PP ebay store the other day which has 5 3ml roll ons for £10. I've got a few of the 3ml size already and they last ages and the longevity is great because they're oils.

Link is rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F251637006767 there's not as much choice as on their website but it might be a good intro if they've got stuff you want.

Obviously, I had to place an order myself. One of the ones I ordered is the dupe of Angel which I know has a lot of haters but it's one of my first loves, I have always been fond of a gourmand! It's the only time I've come close to having a signature scent but I haven't worn it for years now.

wasnotwasweregood · 02/08/2019 11:05

Can any of you lovely perfume experts recommend me a light and not too expensive summer fragrance please? If money were no object I'd be bathing in Jo Malone's Mimosa and Cardamom, can anyone recommend anything mimosa-y? Thanks to anyone that can help!

MrsMoggs · 02/08/2019 11:17

Library of Fragrance do a Mimosa which seems well thought of (purchase online).

teta · 02/08/2019 11:31

Champs Elysees EDT by guerlain @wasnotwasweregood. Powdery Mimosa and lilac with a touch of almond . It's pretty cheap in All Beauty or the other websites and is very pretty . Or Miller Harris Noix De tuberose on sale at Tk Maxx but it's more complex n not just Mimosa. It's very beautiful though.

wasnotwas I'd go for Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Mimosa - that line is fabulous value and all very light, refreshing and summery. I was very tempted by some at the airport last week.

I will deffo give PP a go then, don't want my badge revoked Grin Any other PP recommendations?

FloofyCatDoesVeryBadThings · 02/08/2019 16:16

Off the top of my head, my favourite/best PP dupes are (I haven't tried a huge amount and nothing too "niche-y" so others will have more/better recommendations) please forgive spelling and generally wrong name errors!

Prada Infusions d'Iris
Riv Gauche
Opium
Mandoro Di Sicilia (?)
Lush Karma (all their Lush dupes have gone down well with the DC)
Hermes Rue Fabourge
Paloma Picasso
TF Neroli Portofino
TF Mandarin Amalfi
(The TF PPs I've tried have actually all been good but can't remember names without looking)
Likewise the Jo Malone dupes seem to be highly thought of (I like the Pom Noir) I think this may be as real TF and JM are just so bloody overpriced for what they are Hmm

I'm sure there are lots more!

Wasnotwas on that note, you may want to try the Jo Malones from the Perfume Parlour as some are very close and will save you an absolute fortune (stay on the thread and you will spend these savings on perfume elsewhere Wink) I don't know enough about Mimosa though sorry. Fragrantica do a "if you like this you may like this one" thing if you look up your favourites.

cantbelievemyeyes · 02/08/2019 18:28

Wasnotwas another vote for Green Tea Mimosa- I picked up a bottle in TKMaxx last week for £6.99, total bargain for such a pretty scent.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 02/08/2019 18:51

Thanks floofy, will have a look Wink

The Perfume Society Harvey Nicks box looks quite special... #justsayin

cantbelievemyeyes · 02/08/2019 20:18

Oh wow Maud, I am seriously tempted by that box...

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 02/08/2019 20:32

Me too, calm.

Serge Lutens, Kurkdjian, Annick Goutal, Tiziana Terenzi...aaargh, soooo tempting.

I've had wine, too. Dangerous Grin

MotherOfDragonite · 02/08/2019 21:42

Hello perfumistas, it's been too long. Still slogging through the life admin, wearing Midnight in the Palace Garden (I wish I'd got a big bottle!).

Today I trusted DD2 (age 2) to have no nappy on in the house for a little while. She repaid me with a big soft poo in the middle of the living room carpet. I'm still weeping a bit inside -- half with laughter.

cantbelievemyeyes · 02/08/2019 21:47

I've ordered Maud, couldn't resist. I love travel spray sizes, they're my 'thing', so I couldn't not!

Oh dear Mother, hope it wasn't too soft to scoop up easily Grin

wasnotwasweregood · 02/08/2019 23:17

Thank you lovely lot I'm going to give the Green Tea Mimosa a go - thanks for all the recommendations!

teta · 03/08/2019 05:27

Oh no I was about to buy the miller Harris tuberose from Tk Maxx but it’s sold out.
Stamps foot in fury 😰.
The Jo Malone’s have been sitting on there for ages.
Today I’m going to take advantage of living above a shopping centre in Malaysia and go to every perfume shop. Just for testing .......... We’re moving on tomorrow to go live in a concrete tube. It’s a modern eco hotel in the jungle n there’s no room for luggage in the rooms. Should be interesting as we have twelve cases
@MotherOfDragonite sympathies. It’s not nice. I hope you have plentiful supplies of carpet shampoo.( a dog with diarrhoea is even worse😬)

Oh mother if it makes you feel better I had to change DS2 in the buggy earlier today while on the overground, only to find the poo had gone up the back and in taking the nappy off it smeared all over him, the buggy and my hands. I ended up having to hold him, half naked, while I smeared shit around with a muslin, while piles of West Ham fans walked by.

BUT I did then come home to a tester set of the Beauty Pie perfumes from my sister and I now smell lovely.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 03/08/2019 14:54

Oh mother, what a treat! Grin

teta the concrete tube sounds...interesting?

I'm sitting on my hands to avoid that Perfume Soc. box. God, it's really tempting though, and I cleared out another drawer in my dressing table today ready for L'Heure Bleue and the 4160 crowdfunder....it would easily fit the PS box too...
