KaliforniaDreamz · 28/06/2019 16:42

We have the same taste buffy
mrs i still need to buy some Paradoxe.....

what is 1963 like?

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 28/06/2019 16:54

It's a glorious, sultry, woody tuberose-and-tobacco, Kali. I absolutely love it, my 9ml is nearly done, and now have a 50ml bottle winging its way to me! If you like sweetish tobacco and/or white floral scents it is wonderful.

I love the fact that ds has gone out to play 5-a-side football, drenched in Rhubarb & Citrus again Grin. I asked if they'd pop another sample in the box for him, hopefully that wan't too cheeky.

buffy I actually have the LoF G&T somewhere, must dig it out.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 28/06/2019 16:59

I am laughing at myself though - on the AIBU 'what would you do if you didn't have to work' thread I've just announced that I could live very happily on little money once the essentials were taken care of...

...am I allowed to count perfume as an essential? Grin

JaimeBronde · 28/06/2019 17:12

Yes Maud absolutely!

Iambuffy · 28/06/2019 17:15

Absolutely!
Books and perfume.
I can live happily with no other luxuries :)

Iambuffy · 28/06/2019 17:15

I've gone for a 9mls maud
I love that size, so handy for travel and handbags.
I've asked for a sample of New York 55...

Iambuffy · 28/06/2019 17:22

If any of you are after a good scent for this hot weather I really recommend 4160 mrsgloss indoors...i wore it a lot last summer in the heat.
I know it's supposed to be an autumn/winter scent but it really works in the heat imo!

Calmasasleepycat · 28/06/2019 17:28

Rome 1963 is in my top five 4160s. To me it is white flowers (I don’t get a particularly strong tuberose) and tobacco. The tobacco is not so much a pipe tobacco as whiffs of Gauloise. There are also hints of church pew in it, mostly the wood rather than incense. Some people get hymnbooks from it, but I don’t really. It is very distinctive. Kali if you would like a sample send me a pm.

JaimeBronde · 28/06/2019 17:37

SOTD is Chanel Bel Respiro, is lovely in this sunny weather.

Hmm I'll see if I can scrabble around some pennies for Rome 1963.

JaimeBronde · 28/06/2019 17:39

What's Mrs G Indoors like Buffy
& why do you think it works well in the summer?

Iambuffy · 28/06/2019 17:46

This is the description:

Woods, a warm fire, a woolly jumper and a slight hint of toasting marshmallows (very slight). For winter days when it's too chilly to venture outside.

Sounds mad to wear in summer doesnt it? But on me it's really light and bright.

Iambuffy · 28/06/2019 17:47

No more books this month...

I've got 4 on my nightstand!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/06/2019 21:09

SOTD NRFH. Thank you to everyone who agreed that woman was rude yesterday.

Perfume and books (although I always read on Kindle) are definite essentials. Also red lipstick for me.

Calmasasleepycat · 28/06/2019 21:35

Oh yes, definitely lipstick! There’s nothing like the expensive click (and rosy smell) of a Chanel lipstick.

AesopsMables · 29/06/2019 06:28

Uhh

FloofyCatHasDoneABadThing · 29/06/2019 10:54

Yes, the essentials of life are definitely perfume, lipsticks, books, cats. Maybe cheese

I have also been MIA and lost my perfume mojo for a bit, but things are getting better and I have just done A Very Bad Thing Indeed to celebrate Blush and it wasn't even the half price deal BlushHave ordered a bottle of Babylon Sunset, have adored this since the lovely Green sent me a sample ages ago, I really cannot afford it but had a total fuck it moment Smile

For those of us with teenage boys who are being recruited into the cult Perfumistas in the making, may I suggest Truth or Dare? I know it sounds weird but my DS absolutely loves it and it smells amazing on him. And better than bloody Lynx Grin

Late to the blind buys talk, but I tend to BB samples unless something is very tempting or on offer. I love perfume for this though as, unlike lipsticks, you can always sell them on eBay and recoup some of your money.

Absolutely boiling here today, I love it. SOTD is the TF Amalfi one, I dithered between this and Avon Tahitian Holiday. Also think Rive Gauche is perfect hot weather perfume.

Funnily enough (is it you Judy that loves this?) my "cannot be bothered to properly choose" SOTD recently has been Chanel 19 which I have always been a bit meh about, but seems to have been perfect for the recent Spring/Summer yet very wet weather. It has really grown on me.

Hope everyone is enjoying glorious weather today!

FloofyCatHasDoneABadThing · 29/06/2019 10:56

PS I'm really sorry but I can't tell who is who for lots of you Blush I've even read the threads and seen the NCs but have had kind of a memory reset recently Grin

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 29/06/2019 11:05

Hey floof good to see you! Your Bad Thing sounds fab - I am fond of Babylon Sunset too even though it's not my usual thang.

Interesting about Truth or Dare - will have to get a sample and see if ds goes for it. I think recruiting young men into the cult can only be a good thing (that doesn't sound quite right but ykwim Grin)

SOTD is Philosykos, my hot weather go-to. Only the EDT though so it doesn't last - I madly oversprayed this morning to try and keep it going for a bit longer...

Has anyone ever tried Shy Mimosa Perfumery? I was looking for Aedes de Venustas sample as ds's foray into rhubarb scents has made me crave the rhubarb-and-tomato sharpness of the Signature AdV perfume. They are selling 2ml samples online for £2 each which seems like a glorious bargain, but when I try to register an account it keeps timing out. It looks kosher but was just wondering if anyone else had experience of them? I might try and tweet them and find out what's going on. The whole AdV sample set for £14 is such a bargain I can't let it go now!

MotherOfDragonite · 29/06/2019 12:59

Hi there Floofy, nice to see you back! In your absence I have developed a new obsession with 4160 Midnight in the Palace Garden (thanks to calm) and it is my SOTD pretty much every day.

I don't get on with lipstick but when I have to wear it, Charlotte Tilbury (Amazing Grace) is my go to lippie. I like Jane Iredale Forever Pink lip tint for everyday. It's just a clear looking lip balm that seem to accentuate the colour of your lips.

And I am obsessed with Clinique Naturally Glossy mascara -- I'm convinced they're going to discontinue it as it's always behind the counter but not on display...
