Previous thread

Now that the Orange One has gone, it's almost time for a visit from the Oranje One! Yes, Queen Max will be attending next Monday's Garter ceremony. It'll be a triplicate fashion face-off between her, Letizia and Kate - who will emerge victorious?

Me too, @Hairydilemma! Perhaps we need a virtual MN formal so we can all dress up in our finest duchesswear!Grin. What a thread that would be!

Looking at the dress in close up I can see it has a silvery stripe so the shoes make sense. Also I hadn't appreciated what the charity was. A simple dress minus too much bling was the right choice.

God, what I wouldn't give for a personal chef and trainer.

latedecember1963 · 13/06/2019 08:45

I suspect that there are quite a few of us with our imaginary lives. 😊
Whenever I think how interesting it must have been to live through an historical period I have to remind myself that I probably would have been one of the servants.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 13/06/2019 08:53

True @QueenOfTheAndals re Kate.
Though before we knew Kate was was pregnant with George, she was having a go at hockey in her heels at her old school (St Andrews, Pangbourne) on the Friday & that weekend she was taken to hospital with hyperemesis gravidarum. Then her pregnancy was announced.

But you're right about sheep shearing being a bit too physical.

pinkladyapples · 13/06/2019 08:53

Kate looked fantastic last night. I love the whole outfit and her hair.

Max looked amazing in that green dress and jewels.

Horsemad · 13/06/2019 08:54

I suspect that there are quite a few of us with our imaginary lives.

Definitely: I live in the countryside, in a huge house with a housekeeper, cook and cleaner.

I have horses, dogs and cats and spend my time riding and going to agricultural shows.

Only a small part of the above statement is true, 'tis mainly all in my head! 😁

pinkladyapples · 13/06/2019 08:57

Close up of the jewels on Max. Also does she have on perspex heels??

My hair is pretty meh but if I set to with volumising mousse and extra large barrelled tongs I can emulate Kate's big bouncy hair!

banivani · 13/06/2019 09:10

It's bloody cold here in Sweden atm I'd say that's the reason for a hat... I recognise the style but can't place the brand - it's all very middle class Stockholm cool anyway ;)

pinkladyapples · 13/06/2019 09:12

Thanks banivani I think one of the guides had the same logo on her jacket so wasn't sure if it was something to do with a charity or something. She pulls it off anyway Smile I like her jacket too.

StayAChild · 13/06/2019 09:13

Kate looks so beautiful and fresh - must be the Lake District air.
I reckon she wore those shoes for that little girl who wanted her to look princessy. Smile

latedecember1963 · 13/06/2019 09:20

I wonder if Charlotte says "Oh Mummy, wear your princess shoes!" when she's getting ready to go out.
Do you think any of Kate's clothes or accessories end up in the children's dressing up box?

Paradyning · 13/06/2019 09:59

Max's shoes are indeed see through!

Nothing wrong with Kate's shoes. Just not with that dress!!

Max is a sucker for perspex heels. She has loads. I love her, she's always teetering on the verge of bad taste but gets away with it by having an amazing personality and breathtaking jewels.

Re: Kate. You don't have to be healthy to have 3 healthy children. I'm kinda tired of that excuse tbh. People had healthy babies in concentration camps, pregnancy does not = "Oh well she must be healthy as a horse". I saw plenty of really unhealthy people on the labour wards. There's clearly an issue. But God forbid we talk about it cos then it's "women not supporting women". Which effectively mutes everyone. I don't want to derail, cos I know this is about fashion - I just find it really mind boggling how ignored it is that she's thinner than Victoria Beckham these days.

Spudlet · 13/06/2019 10:34

I definitely have an imaginary duchess life. I have a big house, horses, another couple of dogs and a London flat as well. And a fab wardrobe, of course.

I have my hair in a plait going into a ponytail today, sad act that I am! I like it actually, it gives a little bit of lift to the crown while still getting the bouncy ponytail effect. 👍

StayAChild · 13/06/2019 10:54

latedecember1963 You can bet your life Charlotte and George teeter around the dressing room in her shoes when she's getting ready. Grin

I always wonder where all the clothes live. Does she have a dedicated room for them all, and are they all colour coded/occasion sorted, so a rail full of St Patrick's day coats Wink. Will the khaki coats and casual stuff be kept in the same place or will she have a hook by the door for her casual jackets.
When does she have time for fittings and to try all the new stuff on? I would find it all so tedious.

Disfordarkchocolate · 13/06/2019 10:58

I don't think Katherine looks unhealthy at all. She's definitely fit and toned not just slim.

BabyDueDecember2019 · 13/06/2019 11:12

Kate looks amazing in the white & I love the shoes

Wetdogloveshubert · 13/06/2019 11:15

There was a lovely segment in one of The Crown episodes where HM is subjected to Grin a parade of models showing a designer's set of frocks for one of the tours (Australia?) HM didn't look particularly excited by it (admittedly, this is artistic licence) so I can imagine Kate does something similar quite regularly, though maybe sans models.

AngeloMysterioso · 13/06/2019 11:37

Just watched the Alexander McQueen documentary on Netflix- can’t help thinking he wouldn’t exactly be thrilled that the most well known pieces you see with his name on these days are the Duchess of Cambridge’s boring pastel coloured coat dresses...

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/06/2019 11:44

Oh do give over with the unhealthily slim stuff. My mother's generation were all that shape at her age. Look at Celia Johnson in Brief Encounter, Audrey Hepburn. I was too, actually. (Not any more Grin)

She'll outlive all the puddings of her age waddling round, that's for sure.

latedecember1963 · 13/06/2019 12:05

"I love her, she's always teetering on the verge of bad taste but gets away with it by having an amazing personality and breath taking jewels."
What a fabulous description of Max, Elspethflashman!
