Previous thread

Now that the Orange One has gone, it's almost time for a visit from the Oranje One! Yes, Queen Max will be attending next Monday's Garter ceremony. It'll be a triplicate fashion face-off between her, Letizia and Kate - who will emerge victorious?

anyone notice how tindall needed a shave?

EleanorReally · 19/06/2019 07:40

Sophie's dress would have been better if it hadnt been buttoned up to the top, i think.
Bea and Eug would be better if they werent compared to such a slim kate.

DevonUkelele · 19/06/2019 07:50

Sophie obviously had something custom made, but she looked like she’d gone through a Laura Ashley wallpaper book to choose her fabric.

Sophie is one of my faves. But she seriously looked as if she might have faded into the wallpaper at certain country houses (or my dear old gran's Wink).

IHeartArya · 19/06/2019 08:01

Yes I agree a rare miss for Sophie. The style was fine imo though.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/06/2019 08:01

Today is the Duke of Cambridge stakes so we may see Kate again.

Kate reminded me of Grace? From Annie movie....

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/06/2019 08:12

Yes! Now you mention it, she definitely did!!

K&W are being conspicuously solicitous about the elderly lady injured by their outrider. Not that they wouldn't be concerned anyway, but the detail of how much interest they are taking and the promise of a visit is something we might not otherwise have been told about. Lessons have been learned.

I hope the DoE has recovered fully from his accident. The delayed shock would have had an impact at his age.

Gooseysgirl · 19/06/2019 08:48

Agree with PPs that Eugenie is probably pregnant (congrats and good luck to her!); high neck sleeveless is not a good look for her... like the colour and the hat though. Beatrice not great - tassels on the hat were weird, Kate's outfit is actually growing on me 🤷🏻‍♀️ Sophie and Zara absolutely awful - Zara's dress was like my MIL's living room curtains - I've been really disappointed in Zara's outfits over the last few years - but I suspect she doesn't give a fiddlers about fashion as much and is more focussed on her family these days. Max wiped the floor with all of them yet again - stunning, and oh my those earrings!!! 😍

queenofarles · 19/06/2019 09:02

AdaColman. & Queen thank you!
It’s possible to argue that Anderson Cooper and DOE are distantly related. Bit similar to how Kerry Katona and Brian McFadden being related to the Queen Grin

peridito · 19/06/2019 09:08

I thought Zara's dress looked out of place - heavy and dark amongst the light floaty outfits .But I particularly dislike the contrast of flowers on a black background .

Loved Anne's hat ,really suited her .

beanaseireann · 19/06/2019 09:19

EleanorReally - "anyone notice how tindall needed a shave?"

I did.
I always think he's punching above his weight with Zara.

UrsulaPandress · 19/06/2019 09:24

Really? They seem very happy to me.

Maybe he is growing a beard. There was a photo of him holding his hands out as if to cup William's face and laughing so probably having a joke about it.

banivani · 19/06/2019 09:34

Very badly sewn darts on Eugenie's dress, I agree - or else just badly fitting, since they're so visible. Agree her backside looks fantastic. Other than that it's hard to get excited over Ascot fashion. www.harpersbazaar.com/uk/fashion/g28082497/royal-ascot-2019-pictures/?slide=9 Googled and saw one I thought was a little cooler than the rest]] but I don't know who she is.

At the risk of sounding sneery and put-downy: I have to ask about Beatrice's heavy eye makeup. This has been her thing for years, hasn't it? I'm only noticing now because when people add photos to this thread they're tiny thumbnails and without being able to see all the details her eyes really stand out, like black holes - it's the first thing I see. I'm not superkeen on this look in general, admittedly. I'm starting to wonder why she doesn't mix it up, I wonder if it's a form of disguise/mask almost. If I saw her without the heavy eye makeup I mightn't recognise her, which is actually pretty smart.

SlipperOrchid · 19/06/2019 09:45

Kate looks like she is wearing a costume. I cannot fathom why a woman under forty, dresses as if she is in fancy dress so often! Max must have been in shock to see the UK’s ‘style’ although I gather they have a bit of a reputation abroad for lack of style anyway, which they seem glad to fulfil!

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/06/2019 09:49

@banivani I've seen photos of her without the heavy eye makeup and she looks much better. Her eyes are fairly prominent (she resembles a young Queen Victoria) so they don't really need that much emphasis. Maybe it is a form of disguise but tbh, would the average person on the street recognise her when she's out and about?

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 19/06/2019 09:49

I think she spends a lot of time working in New York too, where she's even less likely to be recognised!

Eugenie and Zara both pregnant I reckon. There is a DM photo of Euj holding her tummy, Zara with a very round tummy, and a conspiratorial glance.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/06/2019 09:59

I liked Zara’s dress; the almost maxi length 7/8ths was interesting.
If my theory is correct; she picked a busy pattern as a distraction

beanaseireann · 19/06/2019 10:01

I really liked Beatrice's outfit but the hat didn't need the tassels.
I really disliked Eugenie's. It made her look plump and wasn't dressy enough for the occasion.

QueenoftheAndals we'll need a new thread soon please.
How many threads have you created ?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/06/2019 10:03

anyone notice how tindall needed a shave?"

I think William was taking the piss out of that in a couple of the photos.

I always think he's punching above his weight with Zara.
I don’t think so; I think they’re well suited. Top sportspeople. I don’t think he relies on her for money.
They just seem really happy together and he fits in well with the whole family.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/06/2019 10:05

Zara has a tendency to hang on to her baby weight for a bit ( like most normal women).
But in this photo ( linked above) I think there is a definite high bump.

@beanaseireann I've lost count! We must be up to about 20 now??

OP posts:
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/06/2019 10:10

No way. At least 30, approaching 40

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/06/2019 10:11

I liked Kitty Spencer's Ascot dress when I saw a photo of it yesterday but in this shot it looks like she's wearing a vest that's ridden up. For D&G I'd expect the fit to be immaculate!
