Sorry to hear your news, never - I am a fully signed up member of the living for today brigade. My Dad has lost so many siblings and all to cancer; my Mum has beaten breast cancer but I know it can hit so randomly that I take nothing for granted.

I am in a lot of pain right now - I though I had toothache but then thought it was actually a sinus infection as the whole right side of my head was in agony, so I went to the Dr on Tuesday last. She put me on an antibiotic plus Difene plus Solpadol. The latter I could only take at night as it makes me very drowsy. Fast forward to the weekend (a BH weekend here) and I did not sleep an iota last night with the pain in my mouth and cheek. The only thing giving me any relief was drinking water. So I took myself to the emergency GP service today and she said that a) my BP is sky high but it is likely due to the pain (at least she knew I wasn't making that up!) and b) it is actually an ear infection which is causing all the pain and discomfort. I am on a second, stronger anitb and hopefully it should kick in by tomorrow. My goodness, though, the pain is intense and comes in waves, not unlike labour!

neveradullmoment99 · 02/06/2019 17:55

OMG @Laska. My twins are 32 today!!!! How funny!!

neveradullmoment99 · 02/06/2019 17:57

..and thanks everyone. It is so very sad. It brings our own mortality into sharp focus and doesn't help when I think my ds are 32!!! @Laska, I know what you mean about feeling old!!

dontcallmelen · 02/06/2019 18:02

Happy birthday to nevers twins as well🎂🎂.
I can’t bring myself to even think about how old Ds will be in August 😱

Ellapaella · 02/06/2019 18:02

Hope you feel better soon @miffy2 - I've never had an ear infection but my DS has and I know he was in agony with it. Thanks

Happy birthday to everybody's DC x

miffy awful awful pain I feel for you, have had terrible problems with one of my ears & yy I reckon the pain was as bad as labour💐

neveradullmoment99 · 02/06/2019 18:04

Yes, hope you feel better soon @MIffy. Sounds painful. I have never had one either and neither have any of my children.

neveradullmoment99 · 02/06/2019 18:05

Thanks for my ds birthday wishes :)

dontcallmelen · 02/06/2019 19:01

Just ordered the Boden espadrilles, got 25% with this code J4H5 down from £80.00 to £60.00 just to have a little look😍

FuzzyPuffling · 02/06/2019 19:06

Yay len you bought something!!! Hurrah!

GinandGingerBeer · 02/06/2019 19:17

Thank you so much for your kind words Gin
Sorry for the confusion @never, the REM link was that I took my dsis to Glastonbury as it was on her bucket list, she too has passed away although not at Glasto. So sorry to hear you've had bad news today too What a terrible shock Thanks
@miffy2 earache is just the worst kind of pain, I feel for you and hope tomorrow brings some relief.
Well back home now, the cat is very pleased to see us and would sit on my head if I let her.
I think you'll be pleased with your tipsy purchase @laska it's one of the nicest dresses I've had in a while and I have quite a collection!
Dresses are the way to go on holiday, only have to think about what sandals to stick on with it, I'm not great at clever mix n match packing, too much brain work required!

You know something I think you are right! I stressed so much at Easter - how many Ts to bring, which shorts would be comfy etc. I was looking at DMBL40's Insta today and she said the same thing, she just brings dresses, sandals and bikinis (in fairness she took away 20! dresses and I don't think I own half that number) and it got me thinking it is a good plan. My only issue is I need to wear big pants under dresses, when in the heat, as the dreaded chub rub gets me every time. Even at my slimmest I always have/had big thighs.

I have taken my 2nd dose of ABs and am really hoping they work sooooooon. I started eating dinner and then had wave after wave of pain, it was as bad as when I had a prolapsed disk 10 years ago. I will never ever underestimate the pain of an ear infection again. I am OK right now so taking advantage to sit down and distract myself on here. Maybe I need to buy something as well, make me feel better!

dontcallmelen · 02/06/2019 19:23

Fuzzy been on a bit of a roll with sandals, if these are ok then I really need to stop.

dontcallmelen · 02/06/2019 19:28

Yy dresses, it’s such a pain with separates on holiday & I always always end up bringing way to many tops & six million pairs of sandals.
miffy hope the antibiotics kick in quickly & sorts out the infection.
I have no hearing in my right ear & very little bone left due to major surgery when an ear infection wasn’t treated quickly enough, so it’s really good that treatment has been swift.

miffy2 · 02/06/2019 19:40

len I have troublesome ears; my ear canals are very small and I get blocked ears on a regular basis (I love having them syringed and being able to hear properly again). I also have post-nasal drip and allergies so they are all connected; have not had an actual ear infection for many years though. Sorry to hear about your hearing loss, it is so precarious, isn't it?

Laska2Meryls · 02/06/2019 20:06

Oh never sorry I missed your post .. I am so sorry about your sad news.. Flowers

butan odd coincidence about your twins Birthsdays though! happy birthday to them Cake

miffy oh no poor you ,ear infections are the worst ( I once had such a bad one once that I was completely doolally with it and the drugs, it was as i think ,as bad as giving birth pain!) I hope the anti bacs kick in asap..

neveradullmoment99 · 02/06/2019 20:17

Can I ask about er chub rub? Anyone suffer? Blush
I am not overly big but I find it totally puts me off wearing dresses. Anyone have a cure?

neveradullmoment99 · 02/06/2019 20:18

And no worries @Laska but thanks :)

NotAnActualSheep · 02/06/2019 20:40

Hello all - sorry I've been away - I have kept up reading you, and kept meaning to respond, but getting distracted with other stuff work and then the thread had moved on so fast!! Thanks huff for thinking of me! Anyway, i've loved reading all the chat and seeing the photos and buys. I just can't go back over everyone, but general waves Grin .

It sounds like you've had lovely weekends with gardens, and parties and birthdays and so on. Happy birthday not so "mini" laska and never! Cake . It's been a bit of a mixed bag here weather-wise here. Yesterday was lovely (DS went to a birthday party in a country park, and given the latter part of last week was ark-building weather everyone had been keeping their fingers crossed...but it turned out lovely_ - today, not so much... Exciting talk about Glastonbury too! each - I'm v jealous of the 80-s fest (though tbf, camping of any form is my idea of a nightmare - so I'd have to have an actual bed).

Sorry to hear about your news never - that is a real shock Flowers. yy living for the day. Sad And also each and miffy (ouch). I have the same thing with the frequently blocked ears. It's happened again in the last week, and I've just given up on our GP and go straight to a private clinic who sort them out immediately - getting them cleaned tomorrow, and oh, I'm so looking forward to being able to hear again! It's really grim - and that's without any pain, so all sympathy for you...

gin - hope you're not suffering too badly from post-holiday blues. I've loved all your pictures, and your lovely dresses (lol @ laska's wine induced pouncing!) - you're so stylish and pretty Envy. I think I've been inspired too by some floaty dresses, like soups (which other stories ones are you trying soups? not had dresses from there so can't comment on sizing). I do have the alvers one (get it libby -its fab!!!) so that should really do..but hey....

soy I think you're in Spain now - lucky you! I'm so glad your DS is feeling better and glad you had a lovely time with him. And also congratulations on your DH retirement!

len - loving your sandal obsession! Hope you manage to find the perfect pair (or two, or three...)

I have to say i've been totally enabled inspired by you. I appear to have bought laska's jigsaw stone cropped chinos (styled so well with the sunnies and pink hair) and also a shortish broderie top with a scalloped bottom from there which may work with higher waisted stuff, like ella styled way way back with the harems. And also the pink and black maxi skirt (and matching top just to see ) that huff has. Such a lovely boho vibe...and should work well with the studded sandals. And also the monaco trousers, again, just to see... I have absolutely no will power at all.

The jamie dress from BA came and it is amazing...I'm so glad I took all your advice and sized down..it's great! (i think it works well with the long kimono too). And of course the gorgeous aurora bag...

NotAnActualSheep · 02/06/2019 20:43

@NotAnActualSheep I love the dress, and your bag 😍
@neveradullmoment99 I don't get chub rub generally but did when I was pregnant and found that talcum powder on my thighs was the only thing that really helped.

Ps we are getting a bit close to the end of the thread...

OP posts:
dontcallmelen · 02/06/2019 20:54

I also read about a spray that you can get on thread sometime ago can’t remember the name of the stuff though, yy talcum powder or stick deodorant is also meant to help.

dontcallmelen · 02/06/2019 20:55

Not dress is lovely & the bag goes really well.
