Sad They didn't work for you , but we dont ever judge harshly here soy (why would we, and dont worry about lurkers) but no need to post a photo ..x

dontcallmelen · 30/05/2019 12:04

Aww Soy what a shame, don’t be so hard on yourself though some styles just don’t suit, no matter what size/shape we are you are fab😘
Yy also Laska
Dd got us tickets for the Dior exhibition at the V&A beginning of September am so looking forward to it, we went to see the Grace Kelly exhibition a few years ago & that was amazing, also off to see Beverley Knight in Brighton in October (reminds me anyone got any recommendations for a nice hotel in Brighton)

Laska2Meryls · 30/05/2019 12:07

I have tried on my last years ones and still M bottom so that's ok, but the tops are a just ittle small for my liking (grrr) .. so that's why I bought new.. I did buy the matching bottoms also as they were good price but i already have plain ones also for a beach change

ilovecherries · 30/05/2019 12:07

soy. 😟 💋

I know what you mean though, I forget sometimes that there will be many more people reading than posting. I like being here in that it’s nice when new people join in, but sometimes I wish it was more private. Anyway, if the dress doesn’t flatter you, then it’s the fault of the dress.

I tried the Seymour this morning in JL in Birmingham while I was waiting for a train, and it was one of the most unflattering garments I’ve ever tried. Offer people manage to pull off oversized beautifully, I just look as if I’m trying to hide something.

dontcallmelen · 30/05/2019 12:11

Huff Boden do separate tops n bottoms as well I have a few of the tankini tops & the short style bottoms, I’m the opposite I have to size up on the top & size down on the bottoms as I have no hips or bum but for my frame I have quite a large bust, don’t think the mad sizing helps either it’s a blooming mission nowadays.

Ninkaninus · 30/05/2019 12:18

Soy 🌷 those people aren’t truly happy. If they were they wouldn’t have to get their superiority kicks from laughing at others. Fuck’em, truly. They don’t matter a jot!

I ordered the jigsaw espadrilles too and also had to return because they were just a smidge too small for me. The size up is sold out so I’m going to have to wait and see if they come back in. I was so disappointed, as they really are lovely and it’s very hard for me to find wedge espadrilles that are just right (so many of them have heels that look too clunky from behind, or the toe doesn’t look quite right. Or they’re too high or too low where they look awkward.

There’s a pair on whistles, just gone into the sale at £79 I think, not quite right for me but maybe you’ll like them?

SoyYo · 30/05/2019 12:39

Oh THANK YOU all from the bottom of my ❤️ Girls. You know I’m usually quite philosophical about these things and even though I’m a G cup I do like my boobs. For my age (and their size) they’re still a pretty good shape and surprisingly firm all things considered (BF both DS for nearly 18 months) so hey you’re right!
It’s the dress and not me! 💪
I was just sooo disappointed as it is truly beautiful. Just not on me Wink
@cherries yes I feel like that too sometimes, I know very well us lot are old MN friends and always kind/respectful (the reason I’m so invested in the thread) but having occasionally read other threads I know the MN bitchiness and it’s such a pity women can body/style shame each other so viciously...
Thank You again Flowers

@nink I’m off to Spain on Sunday so I think I’ll just look for espadrilles while there while I’m free to browse shops in RL and try in RL too Wink plus I’ll have a lot more choice there too. I’m glad I was not the only one that found them a bit snug in my usual size.

On a MUCH MORE positive note Smile
My black Fantasie bikini has arrived and I’m so pleased! The bra fits beautifully (no double boob/not tight perfect 34G bikini cup) and @laska it’s same style as the ones you posted (except plain black) so I’m sure you’ll like yours on arrival.
I went for Fantasie M bottoms (12) and it was the right call. As I’m shorter than average they come up just under Belly button so effectively high rise on me/and High Leg while covering bottom beautifully which I love. They have a slight ruche round the sides which helps disguise “mum apron tum” really well and of course match the bikini bra black perfectly as part of the same set.
I feel brave enough to bear all on the beach next week Grin

Huffthepuff · 30/05/2019 12:42

@SoyYo sometimes I think the way we shop these days online it's so much more of a gamble. If you saw a dress you liked in a shop and tried it on amongst several other things, we wouldn't give a hoot if it wasn't right or flattering. Back on the rail it goes. But shopping online, paying for something and having it in your thoughts for a few days waiting for it to be delivered, makes it so much more of an investment. I even feel guilty returning stuff! Totally get how deflating it is especially when you order more than one thing and there still isn't something to keep at the end of the process. But we have to take chances or we might just miss that one special piece that makes you feel a million dollars. Such a shame about the dress.

dontcallmelen · 30/05/2019 12:43

Yeahy glad you are with the swimwear Soy & yy what Nink said long live kindness & respect to one another.
Well I tried on the RI khaki bottoms, I look like coco the clown they really stick out on the hips such a shame, they are lovely great fabric nice detail I’m very sad😢

Ninkaninus · 30/05/2019 12:48

Well there you go, that’s perfect -all the stock the high end shops sell is made in Spain/Portugal anyway isn’t it, so you’re going right to the source and you get the fun of actual shopping too! Hope you find your perfect pair! 👍

I knew there was a reason I had stayed away from this thread - just bought a top and blazer in the whistles sale!! But I have loads of stuff to sell on eBay so if I can just get my arse in gear I should sell enough to pay for the bag outright.

Huffthepuff · 30/05/2019 12:52

The gold Saltwaters have arrived and I love them. Could barely get my feet in them at first but followed the instructions and stepped into a shallow bath with them on and now they fit like a glove

Huffthepuff · 30/05/2019 12:54

Thanks Len I think I will try Boden. Have heard good things about their swimwear

SoyYo · 30/05/2019 12:56

You’re so right @Huff! It’s the online shopping, £ investment and anticipation that makes you feel very flat if at the end of the tortuous process you end up with nought. On the other hand plenty of bargains to be had and so much more choice now compared to the old days when we were limited to whatever high st shops we had on our nearest town (unless you live in London). Totally agree. I tell you what upset me most: not being able to show you old friends to end up having a laugh about it but it was the fear of someone mean coming here to ridicule me that stopped me posting a pic.
Anyway Moving On
@Len sad for you too! BUT the hunt for the perfect trousers continues and we hold your hand all the way Flowers

Laska2Meryls · 30/05/2019 12:56

When you live in a small place like me ( one post office only in the whole area) you get guilty even taking the parcels back! ( because they know you, I worry they will judge) . Our posties are v friendly but they often say 'I see you've been buying again!' . I now tell them that I'm doing it for them, saving their jobs and supporting my rural post office!!

I'd be (am) devastated if someone on RL was/is rude to me about what I Iook like, (I am a bit of a sensitive flower and still have to often mentally fight against things my close family members have said in he past about my weight, hair ( having trichotillomania) etc . I suppose they were mistakenly thinking that being critical of my looks was somehow being 'cruel to be kind for my own good' but it has affected my body confidence all of my life (and still does really). But on MN, not so, some people just like being goady/superior and well I dont know them and they dont know me..(I feel like i know you lot as friends though!!) .. But TBH i have never seem anyone be horrid about us on this thread ( and I really dont care if they are elsewhere..)

SoyYo · 30/05/2019 13:01

Ooh have just seen your shiny gold Saltwaters @Huff! Love!
Yes on Boden tankinis! They’ll fit you really well and you can choose different size bottoms too. Plus they’re swift with refunds and always a discount code floating about.

@nink Grin on Whistles! Exactly my thought on espadrilles and going to the horses mouth as it were...now get your arse into gear and go eBay! That Mulberry Shall be Yours

twosoups1972 · 30/05/2019 13:01

@Soy shame about the Jigsaw things. Would the espadrilles work in a bigger size? Disappointing about the dress, totally understand if you don't want to post a photo but you know your Hush friends would NEVER judge you. Jigsaw dresses a very hit and miss I find.

@huff all the old comedians seem to be making a comeback. Lenny Henry and Ben Elton are also doing tours this year!

Swimwear! Is it that time of year already? I don't have the confidence to wear a bikini, whichever one I try, I feel like I'm wearing my bra and knickers. But I might try the Boden one piece that's very popular. Can't remember the name but it comes in loads of colours and has a halter neck tie.

Laska2Meryls · 30/05/2019 13:02

huff Love Saltwaters, ! yes soaking them really works.. I am still waiting for my Olive ones to arrive and I might have ordered the mustard also with the office offer. I am bad, bad, bad

len I am well jel of Dior tickets! are there any left?
I lived just outside of Brighton , so sadly dont know of any hotels ..but all the 'usuals' are there..

twosoups1972 · 30/05/2019 13:02

@nink did you know Mulberry have a sale on at the moment? Wink

SoyYo · 30/05/2019 13:04

@laska Flowers yes I hear you.
Onwards and Upwards this thread has given me the confidence to try many new styles and to not get in a style rut and for that and the kindness thank you again.

Ninkaninus · 30/05/2019 13:05

Heh soups yes I do know that! Grin I think it’s only the sale preview at the moment though? I could go ahead and buy now but I’m trying to wait until JL do their price match so that I can benefit from the more generous returns policy...

twosoups1972 · 30/05/2019 13:06

Now I have a dilemma Hush friends. I went into Daniel earlier today and tried the lovely grey trainers which are £££. They didn't have my size so I tried the next size up (which wasn't even that big).....I loved them. They look great and are really comfortable.

So do I a) buy them now in case they sell out? or b) wait to see if they go down in the sale?

Ninkaninus · 30/05/2019 13:10

Buy them now. Sometimes it’s best not to wait for sales. But I’m quite philosophical about missing out on a bargain as long as I absolutely love the item.

ilovecherries · 30/05/2019 13:10

I’m the same here about the post office, laska - small rural PO with the same two women in it all the time, and the same postie every day. On the plus side, he makes an assessment based on things like dog barking/my car in drive/ blinds being open to decide if the parcel can be left on the back step or returned to the sorting office, or even if he should just pop back later, which he often does. I’ve even done that MN horror of letting him use my toilet!!! At home, the postie barely makes eye contact with me, and certainly wouldn’t get toilet access 🤣.

SoyYo · 30/05/2019 13:11

@soups highly recommend the Fantasie bikinis, I’m super pleased and had same fear as you re looking like I’m wearing bra/panties but No.
It’s all good!
I find Boden swimwear I have to size up sooo much to fit boobs that it tends to then be huge in the body that’s why I’ve given up on it.
Last summer sale I bought a stripy swimsuit with “beach” print which is gorgeously made but had to have a seamstress take it in round hips as it was flapping round my nether regions the 16 was too wide at the bottom and we are a similar shape.
Still happy with it in the end because it was vastly reduced in the sale but at full price it would have been a return. Just be aware if you’re bigger than a DD/E cup you may experience the same...

Laska2Meryls · 30/05/2019 13:12

two soups really you need to ask?!! GrinWink C'mon you just KNOW what we Hushistas are all going to say ,dont you?

So Ill be first!, Yes yes yes!! If you love them and can afford them without adding to any debt , then buy them. Wear them lots and enjoy them now!! Life is too short, and You will regret it if they are sold out or dont go in the sale )
