I never wear dresses, I feel I’m too short 5’2 and at a size 16 I look like a ship in full sail.

DD has convinced me that this looks nice and will be lovely for summer evenings and holidays.

It feel very comfortable but i feel like a lumpen blob. I know I need to lose weight but I also need to look nice while I’m at least trying.

Completely honest opinions please as I’ve kept the ticket on it so far just in case it needs to go back.

Thanks

Yes I love this new dress - very flattering!!!

EnidButton · 23/04/2019 18:12

That one's much better!

The first dress had a too high waist and the top and sleeves were too rounded. The model and professional photographer couldn't even make it look right.

The second dress was good at the top but not the best size in the skirt.

This third one is like the best bits of both in one. If they do it in other patterns you should snap them up.

EnidButton · 23/04/2019 18:13

I'm a size 10 btw and have lots of trouble finding dresses that aren't too high in the waist. I'm forever tugging them down. So it's not you, it's how they're cut.

ittooshallpass · 23/04/2019 18:14

Having a bigger bust often results in the waist of a dress sitting too high.

Try Bravissimo clothes to get the best fit - there is more fabric so the waist sits where it should.

How about this one www.bravissimo.com/products/kimono-maxi-dress-redwhite-pd659rwh/

fluorescentorange · 23/04/2019 18:14

It looks lovely. DD’s always know best, they don’t want you to look silly, trust her, it looks very nice.

ToftheB · 23/04/2019 18:17

I love the Next one on you. Great shape, great print. I quite fancy one myself....

Cocolapew · 23/04/2019 18:19

The Next one looks fantastic on you

ScarlettDarling · 23/04/2019 18:22

The new one is a million times better. Makes you look much more shapely than the first one did and the print is soooo much nicer too. Good choice!

EnidButton · 23/04/2019 18:24

I like that Ittoo. Like it in the orange red colour too.

jellycatspyjamas · 23/04/2019 22:18

That looks so much better OP, how do you feel in it?

Lexilooo · 23/04/2019 22:23

Third dress is much better! Keep that!

It would be even better if the sleeves were elbow length or it was sleeveless.

Also has it got a seam at the waist? It looks as though it does but it could be the tie going round your waist. For a better line just tie the strings behind your back without crossing them in front of you and look out for ones that don't have a seam at the waist as it cuts you in half a bit.

Huge improvement though!

NW2SW · 23/04/2019 22:26

Bit too long for you, could do with a belt to break up the pattern

MrsEricBana · 23/04/2019 22:36

MUCH better shape on you. Now same shape in brighter colour too! (I'm a dress dodger too and always do white trousers, sandals and pretty top on summer hol evenings).

Justkeeprollingalong · 23/04/2019 23:14

The first two did nothing for you at all but the Next one is excellent. Really flattering. Well done!

Bobcut · 23/04/2019 23:18

I like it on you

AsleepAllDay · 23/04/2019 23:21

I would wear it! Similar size/height

AsleepAllDay · 23/04/2019 23:23

One thing to remember about being so short is that shop sizes can be so variable. Whenever I have worn a 12 and above (and I have!), it's made for a taller woman. So a fit like the one you have in the pic is one I would keep

IncrediblySadToo · 23/04/2019 23:30

It’s a shame about the shift dresses, they were my next Next suggestion. Would they work if you took the pockets out?

Offallycheap · 23/04/2019 23:36

Third dress is miles nicer on you than the first two.

3littlerabbits · 23/04/2019 23:42

I would send the first dress back, the second is ok and the third is a definite keeper! It is really nice and you look great in it.

MyloJesse · 23/04/2019 23:48

Add a long neclace to outfit to elongate you further x

slithytove · 24/04/2019 00:02

Just coming on to recommend the next linen shift dresses, I’ve bought some every year since they were first released - gutted to hear they’ve changed the pockets as I really need some new ones

strangerthongs · 24/04/2019 07:39

it is very flattering on you

Too dark though

strangerthongs · 24/04/2019 07:39

sorry just seen your second picture

I don't like it as much, it is not as flattering

BusterGonad · 24/04/2019 08:44

The Next dress looks great on you, but it in all patterns as you look great in it!
