I never wear dresses, I feel I’m too short 5’2 and at a size 16 I look like a ship in full sail.

DD has convinced me that this looks nice and will be lovely for summer evenings and holidays.

It feel very comfortable but i feel like a lumpen blob. I know I need to lose weight but I also need to look nice while I’m at least trying.

Completely honest opinions please as I’ve kept the ticket on it so far just in case it needs to go back.

Thanks

I prefer the second dress, it emphasises your boobs.

hugoagogo · 22/04/2019 20:30

The second one is much better.
The first one is too long and the pleats are unflattering.
I think you need a petite fitting, how about this?

Floralnomad · 22/04/2019 20:31

The second dress is definitely better , however I agree with a pp to have a look at Joe Browns .

Oblomov19 · 22/04/2019 20:33

Think it's very nice.

OP you tried something like this shape ? The second dress is a size too small IMO and no the best shape for you .

Dowdy13 · 22/04/2019 20:34

Thanks to you all for posting links, I’ve never been able to feel anything than frumpy, I thought it was because I was so short and dumpy but maybe I just haven’t got a great eye for clothes!

I know people recommend personal shoppers but I fear I’ll end up so far out of my comfort zone that I won’t wear anything. I just want to look my age, casual and yet smart.

Those joe browns dresses are really lovely and would suit you op.

MrsReader · 22/04/2019 20:39

I like it, it's very flattering on you. I'm a size 12 (or was before being heavily pregnant!) and i would wear it

arseabouttit · 22/04/2019 20:40

I think the v neck is more flattering for a full bust! I have a very similar figure and struggle with dresses - the waist is a difficult area and always seems to be cut too high - flipping nightmare! I got a v neck belted jumpsuit last year which is good but the fabric is a bit too heavy for hot weather :( Anyway, first dress is OK but I think you could flatter your bust more - draw attention to that to mask the tummy area.

Carolcool · 22/04/2019 20:40

You look great x

Pixel99 · 22/04/2019 20:45

I think that the style of dress is lovely (not as keen on the print on the skirt) and you have a great figure for it.

Exploring · 22/04/2019 20:48

There's a Next dress I got last year after reading about it on here, linen blend v neck above knee, pockets. I'm a 14 to 16 with belly. I hate dresses, hate my figure, tried it on and went actually that's OK. This year's design has short sleeves instead of no sleeves so I may have to go try some on.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 22/04/2019 20:50

I think it looks fine on you but I don’t like the dress at all. I think it’s very old fashioned

LorelaiRoryEmily · 22/04/2019 20:51

I mean I think the shape suits you but I don’t like the print!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 22/04/2019 20:52

Neither dresses are a nice fit but the second looks so much nicer being a V neck. You'd rock a wrap dress,it would be very flattering. Keep trying, you will look great in the right dress.

DantesInferno · 22/04/2019 20:53

the second dress is much more flattering on you

mamaduckbone · 22/04/2019 20:53

The dress isn't my cup of tea but you absolutely don't look like a lumpen blob and if your daughter approves I'd say that's a big thumbs up.

pelirocco123 · 22/04/2019 20:57

No the dress is all wrong for you ..the shape is wrong and it looks matronly
I doubt it would look good on anyone !
You need something more fitted with a v neck and a waist ..and the pattern is awful

Its not you its the dress

ReindeerDream · 22/04/2019 20:58

The dress looks fine, but there's better dresses to suit you out there. I think dresses (the right dress) are actually very forgiving, more so than trousers.

You have a lovely neat figure for a dress. I think in particular you'd suit v-neck wrap dresses. The length is good on you (midi). and the snake print is great. If you could turn that into a v neck wrap snake midi print you'd be onto a winner! But that dress is perfectly fine.

pelirocco123 · 22/04/2019 20:59

The 2nd dress is much better , pattern is a bit busy and it might be better a bit longer

AuditAngel · 22/04/2019 21:02

I think it is a great length on you, but the waist is too high. I’m 5’7” and long in the body so always have the waist an inch or so above where it should be,

I’m size 20-22 and wearing this www.curvissa.co.uk/products/print-flippy-hem-dress/_/A-62W397_22?PFM_rsn=browse&PFM_ref=true&PFM_psp=own&PFM_pge=1&PFM_lpn=6

Ellapaella · 22/04/2019 21:02

I think the first dress is much nicer. More modern and I love that it's pleated. I know what people are saying about a V-neck potentially being more flattering on you but the first dress is more stylish and on trend and I think it looks lovely on you.
Second dress is a bit 'meh'. It's bland and there's nothing much about it (sorry).

azulmariposa · 22/04/2019 21:02

I think it's too long- not keen on the pleats either.

Yayayo · 22/04/2019 21:03

Nice cut, looks lovely on you but personally don’t like the print.
